I wonder if Vinny will have an input for the online poker side?

I wonder if NJ is a big enough market, with big enough liquidity pools, to attract a lot of Black Friday expats to return to the US to play here. Unlike Nevada and Delaware, New Jersey has really significant population. And that's without compacts. If NJ could sign compacts with other states quickly, why wouldn't players stuck in foreign lands relocate to NJ? They'd be close to Manhattan and Philly, they'd have access to both live and online play. Seems like a natural.

That is a good point, but for NJ to be good, we will need a huge player pool. I am playing on Juicy stakes (old Cake) currently 2359 players, there is only 1 1/2 game running now. Poker Stars has 103,259 online now! Now for Vegas Sites, between 100 and 200 players online! We will need NJ, NY, CA, NV, and like 5 other sites to get a decent 20,000 player pool. So just look at Juicy, that is what the Borgata online poker site will look like in 2 months, now if we add all 3 states maybe we can triple the traffic to get 3 1/2s going, maybe not that bad.

I'm so curious as to how comp dollars would be awarded! Getting a black label card would be much easier with TONS of poker hours.

Awesome, right? Forget the white miasma known as the cafeteria, let's head down to Amphora!

I know you are in NJ Marc, but having lived in NJ, I lol'ed at the bolded.

Good luck to the Borg getting this up and running though. Sure hope that they can make this work and the momentum carries to other states.

Thanks to all who posted. I suspect I will continue to get them. I have four fridays, and one Saturday coming up, along with a monday tuesday. So if new rooms do not show up after next week, I will call the poker host.

When I called her she did note that I would still get two rooms per week.

Looks like the date has been confirmed. I guess this tournament will take the place of the Borgata Spring Poker Open but better!

Whats up Guys,

Just got back from the Borgata (Sunday - Tuesday in a discounted Fiore Suite) Pretty much played Slots and craps. Im coming back in December since they've comped me free rooms as my first stay and I wanna hop into live cash games finally, probably play mostly 1/2 since my BR will be around 500ish (i've played online and house games) any suggestions? Also how do you guys do on comps and comp dollars compared to Craps players? (Took 100$ and 4.5/HRs of play to go from discounted rooms to Comped Classic rooms up the Wazoo, a few Club Rooms Comped and Discounted Fiore Suites again)

Thanks for your input.

Mike

500 is not enough Mike. You want to buy in for at least 100 bigs, so $200, which means you are sitting with 2.5 buyins. You are likely to go broke, as the 1/2 game plays pretty swingy since the usual PF raise is 5x to 9x.

If I were going to play with such a small bankroll, I'd minbuy for $60 and consider the $500 to be 8 buyins. From there, ultra-tight and get it all in asap with TPTK or better. A very boring and predictable approach to be sure, but with such a small bankroll there is not much choice. Try to double up twice, and then you have some room to play speculatives.

I see a 15-30 mix running on bravo right now. Seems pretty cool, wish I was there playing. Hope it goes again.

Any report on what games they're playing?

Thanks Marc for the response and advice.

I have no problem playing a tight boring game just for the pure experience and any sort of comps I would get over the period of time I plan on being there.

No doubt I could probably bring 1k with me but I would feel more comfortable starting smaller.

Lots of good players play sessions with 3 buyins but chance of going broke goes up considerably. Buy in for 80 BB and that gives you 3 decent buyins(with some room to play poker) and play TAG/Nitty(ie: don't shove a bunch of semibluffs)and you can do OK.

If you are there for 2 days I might bring a bit more as it would suck to have to quit/go home. Comps are $2 per hour and if you put in 8-10 hours you should get some room comps too. Comparable to BJ at the stakes you mentioned. Good luck.

Oh the experience is going to be great. The Borgata poker room is one of the best in the USA, very comfortable chairs, plenty of room, and the food court is right below. Maybe up it to 80 bigs like crackle said, then you play 89 from LP every now and then. Just keep it Harringtonian for the most part and you should be fine.

I think $60 is too low, like you said most people raise 5-9BB, so you will be facing a $12 raise most of the time with that $60 stack it is not enough, I think $100 would be good enough, $125 is optimal.
