Best they'll probably be able to do for you is poker rate. That's if they aren't already booked, and its going to a Friday night so probably likely you won't be able to get that good of a deal.

If you are a fan of the former TV show "house" then you know how he got the idea of flushing stuff down a toilet.

the tourney temps are horrible. i can't imagine players paying so much rake for the serious tournies and have to put up with the junk they are placed with. one dealer was hand shuffling, while the others used the machine, he said he's been hand shuffling for all 3 weeks he's been there. when we told him everyone else was using the machine, he said he doesn't know how to use it. another dealer was falling asleep between hands.

What's the poker rate? Most we're willing to pay is 60

I think Fridays and Saturdays are 100+. Best deal would be a hotel in absecon. Obviously not casino quality but there are a few that have recently been renovated and are fairly clean. For a Friday it'll probably be about 60-70 and its only a 10 minute drive to Borg tops

Could you PM or post the names of the motels that you found for $22-24? Also, did you book with them directly or found them on Priceline?

Yeahhhh I'd be careful as to which ones those are lol. In my experience, I've stayed at a few during the week and the decent ones ran anywhere between 25-30 a night. I can only imagine that those rates close to double on the weekends but this may not be the case since this is the off peak season for ac.

Another option that you may look into is borgata allows you to pay for your room with comp dollars. If you get a poker rate and then use whatever comps you had to save more money, it may be worth it. Anyway, gl at the tables.

Try the Day's INN, clean WiFi and has a restaurant that makes good breakfast.

I'm a little upset the the Borgata poker has a tab for "casino". It makes it too easy to spend your poker stack on roulette, slots, video poker and table games (although I won $40 at ultimate-texas-holdem on $1 bets).

I think people will lose their poker stack on the casino side, reducing the poker pool.. unfair (but convenient!)

It is the only reason why Borgata cares about poker, if we didn't bring other people or wasted money out in the pits, there would be no poker rooms, they make peanuts off of it and its a real hassle sometimes.

"Peanuts" is sort of relative. Machines generate far more revenue than all table games combined. Since machines are fairly automatic, there must be a staggering gap in profits.

Do you think Borgata offers blackjack so that friends of blackjack players play slots?

Props to the Borgata floor people for an incident I encountered. I was playing early Friday morning hrs 1-2 NL and ran a stack from 60 to almost 900. I got up to get a Fatburger and about 15 minutes later when I came back up, I saw my table had broken. Spotted one of the floor guys and told him and he brought me to the desks in the back of the room where there was a guy on my table and 2 security guys around him. Long story short (because I don't want to get in trouble with the admins, PM me for the details), I got my chips back.

I have heard way too many bad stories about these kind of situations and in the back of my mind I was pretty sure my chips were gone. Ever since management changes were in place I've had nothing good to say about Borgata but I'm glad in this case, they came through for me.

I don't know what stories you heard, but in all my years playing poker in borgata/AC i've never heard of a player picked up and not returned his chips. When there is a pick up, it's verified by the floor and dealer bagged and taken to a secure spot.

I think she was implying that one of the other players tried to steal her chips.

Borgata reported "win" of $1,365,263 for Dec 2013. SOURCE: DGE Website

I assume "win" in that report refers to rake.

Annualizing the 1.3M for December, I would agree with Dark Elf that "peanuts" is a relative term.

Isn't that gross intake though? How much of that is actual profit once you factor in all of your overhead? THAT would be the number that's most relevant.

Don't you think BJ has far more overhead than poker? The house is really concerned about cheating BJ players, since they would be cheating the house. Hence, much human and eye-in-the-sky surveillance is needed. BJ players probably get better comps as well.

yes, that should be gross revenue from the cash games, 80 tables, and I would expect that it includes at least the regular daily tournaments, and probably includes the major series as well.

in any case, they expect (at high end of their guidance) 42 mill in operating income for the 3rd quarter for the whole casino, so lets just say 14 mil a month, and I've seen that 1.3 mil figure from poker quite often so I think we would all be safe to assume that poker is directly responsible for 10%, add 5% for luck, so lets call it 15% of their revenue.

What the hell kind of math is that?!?!?!?

Poker generated $1.4 million in win in December. Borgata's total win in December was $44 million.

You forgot to add 5% for luck.

Gross win is not how much money they make, that's why I used operating income for the quarter

You seem to be sincere in what you are trying to do, so I will give you a sincere reply. You don't measure revenue from poker, which excludes expenses, against operating income, which is after expenses, to calculate percentages. You have to measure like items. Such as poker revenue divided by total gaming revenue or poker operating income divided by total gaming operating income. With the poker data available on the DGE website we can only compare revenues (or win as it is called).

You also should look at periods of time, not just one month, for comparisons. And you can't take one month and multiply by 12 to estimate the annual number. And you don't get to add 5% for luck or any other factor to the numbers, unless you have good reason.

The data is publicly reported and available on-line if you want to do the work.

Well if the idiot tried to steal the person's chips and then stayed to play poker that day, of course they will get caught, there are cameras and stealing somebodies whole stack is stupider then flushing chips down the toilet, now if he stole a couple black chips its hard for the camera to pick that up.
