My friend played in the HOSE tourney, and he said the dealers were just horrendous, especially in the omaha and stud games. Also dealers were not able to grasp sidepots and no double bets with a pair in stud8 on 4th street.

I'm half kidding, but I can deal much better than your temp guys, and I'll gladly do so for your big tourneys where it's absolutely unacceptable to be charging a $50 fee on a $350 buyin and have literally dealers who have never dealt omaha before. I understand the difficulties and all of keeping or providing competent dealers, but sometime has to be done. I'd be very angry if I paid into the tournament.

I played some 10/20 2-way Saturday night. It was a minor issue (major if you ask certain nits at the table) that the podium just didn't get around to calling new players for us. There was a seat open for about 2 hours with a substantial list that went unfilled. It didn't help that the computer system looked like it went down, and they were calling people off pencil/paper. Also 1/2 NL was a complete zoo, with a list a mile long. Many people were running around trying to get into 1/2 seats, and I saw a floor person who just couldn't care less about his job that night. He was literally leaning against the wall, staring into space, while people needed help, which included me at one point when I needed to get seated at the must-move 2way seat (couldn't find the table!).

Otherwise though, action was good. No surprise there. But when there's a big tournament event series going on, and the place is filled with people, the flaws do appear.

Yup friday night the waiting lis computer caught a virus. had a big trend warning up about a worm and a trojan covering most of the screen. sucks for stan and them but it was kinda funny i have to admit.

punkass is right about dealers. i played thr O8 event. dealer sits deals 2 cards. we ask for more cause its omaha. dear in headlisghts. says he never dealt it. whole day was entertaining. had a drunk guy at my table tilting everyone and he made the money. in 8 hrs he folded 3 times prelop until we were at the bubble when he was short stacked

I saw that. They couldn't get people clocked in or out for a long time and were writing everything down on a piece of paper..yikes.

What was funny was that for a while the Trend Micro screen was up on the computers, including the big screen at the sign in desk at the front of the room. I must admit being an IT guy I was a little surprised that those machines would be that vulnerable. Trend is really a horrible app for mal/spyware.

So played Saturday night, the place was a zoo! Previous posts we talked about the gap between 3/6 and 10/20 and the desire for a game in the middle possibly with pink chips. Well Saturday I got there with just one person on a list for $5/10, so took the leap and played $10/20 for a couple of hours before going to check in. When I came back the $5/10 game was going so I sat down and literally bled pink chips for the next two hours. Realizing it just wasn't working for me, I went and had dinner and came back and played $10/20 instead. The result--it's $10/20 or higher from now on.

Also, good to meet you Stan.

Trend is terrible but like my old hotel, they sign deals with the major companies and become the sole "malware" solution.

Which isn't always the best solution

Oh yes, I did walk by the 5/10 pink game, and it had about 7 players going. I didn't recognize most people too. But if it takes one of the busiest non-holidays to get 7 players to play a PC game, I think the idea is dying.

Yea Sat night was freaking stupid - I put my name on the 1/2 NLHE list and I ended up playing for 5 hours in 2 sng and I was still like 30 down on the list - that and the evening staff looked like they just didnt care what the hell they were doing - not even a sorry for the F'd situation.

Played @ the Borg on Friday and somehow managed to sit at about 5 tables total as each table i went to eventually broke. Couldnt believe the open list at 11:30pm on a friday night. Ah well.

Towards the end of the night some 20-something yr old "im so much better than everyone" dude eventually comes by the last table i was at asking about the "action" and "who raises the most" and eventually sits down SS'ing the 1/2 table claiming he's only there to double up so he can play 2/5. Sure, sir.

Actually drunk guy's antics were really out of hand near the bubble and when we were playing hand to hand the one floor person told him if he said anything other than check, bet, raise or fold he was going to be out of the tournament. Needless to say he quieted down until his bustout.

I got lucky saturday night wandering around the poker room after putting myself on the infinite 1/2 list, I happened to make eye contact with a dealer who was like "seat open, want to play?" I did an involuntary "who me?" Thing and sat down. She even let me buy chips from her. I felt like I just lept over an hour-long hurdle

Their is no way you were on the list for over 5 hour and still 30 down. I got there at 5:30, on a 1/2 table by 6:30. don't know who it was, but at the back podium he called probably 25 names on the 1/2 list and cleaned up the 2/5 list at around 6:15. Great job. Actually the first time in the past year that I had a wait of over 10 min. On 1/2 or 2/5. I thought they did a great job when they wacked that list down.

IMO, I believe the 5/10 LHE PC is really only going to be a big holiday/Saturday game. I think we all pretty much know that the odds of anything going between 3/6 and 10/20 anywhere in the city during the non-peak times is slim and none. However, albeit small, there is some demand for a game within those limits. You get the word out there, you keep promoting it, you keep it a constant time and location, and you should be able to get a full game going every weekend.

Just like a few years ago with the 7.50/15 game at the Tropicana. If you wanted to play around those limits and you knew what was going on with the poker scene in the city, you knew Tropicana was the only room spreading that game, and if you wanted to play it, that was where you went, regardless of what your regular room was.

A full game for several hours on the first attempt without much advertisement is not a bad start. You just continue to get the word out there, hopefully some the people at the Taj looking to play 5/10 get the word and come over to Borgata, and you continue to pick up some 3/6 players that are just looking for the easier footstool to 10/20.

I mean - when I put my name on its was like 40+ deep on the list - so I just played a couple of SNG - didnt check again - maybe they called me and I was to stupid to hear my name. Either way I will be back next weekend to try again - terrible card dead weekend.

I played Friday night and it was a real mad house. I started at a 2/5 table and had my name on the 1/3 and 3/5 6 max lists. I jump out of my 2/5 game when I hear them call the six max but can't find the game anywhere (guess I was the only one to show up). Now I'm stuck cause my 2/5 seat is gobbled up..lol

there is no board for 5/10 so I tell them to lock up a seat and I go to get chips. When I get to the table there's only a dealer there cause the table broke (these were the two tables right in front of the ATM machines by the telephones) so I tell the floor guy and he eventually gets me seated. I'm there for a short while and they call me to the main game but when I get there the seat is gone (wtf?) so they move me to the third table just outside the high limit room. I sit down and get AK on my first hand and win a small pot from a woman at the table when the floor comes over and tells me I HAVE to move into the main game..lol

The the table kinda complained but there wasn't much I could do. Took my seat in the main game and played till around 2:30a. Booked a nice win and went to sleep for the first time in 45 hours.....

I love tournament time at Borgata!!

Hello all. Just recently moved down to NJ from Mass for work, and was hoping to get some insight as to the games down at Borgata, which i have been told is THE poker room of NJ.

I have been a bi-weekly play (not regularly but on average) at Foxwoods and probably an every other day player at pokerstars. I will generally play 1-2 or 2-5 at foxwoods, and generally 1-2 online, with the occassion 2-4/3-6 play. I was wondering from the people who may have experience playing both in CT and here at Borgata how they would compare the two games to each other (i.e. the 1/2 in Ct to the 1/2 at Borgata, and same for 2/5). I have heard that NJ does not allow players to put on a live straddle, which is freqently done at foxwoods, esp in the 1/2 games. In general terms, are the games equal in skill/play. Would people say in generalities either Ct or borgata are tighter/looser games, with more or less nits/grinders/local regulars? Also any heads ups on average wait times people experience on the weekends would be most appreciated. From what i have heard the Foxwoods room is bigger/has more tables, but as generally the only room in town, you can get some long wait times for these games. Alot of questions i know, but any info for the new kid in town would be much appreciated

Is there a specific reason why we can't buy the button in AC?

It would have to be approved by the gaming commission (as would straddling, adding new games like 2-7 that aren't currently approved, etc). If they proposed it, I would think it could be approved, but I'm not sure what kind of time or energy would go into that.
