If men can enter the ladies event, then why cant a sub senior enter a seniors event ??

All events should be open TO ALL players...period !

Can we get a ban on anymore of the "Who can enter what events" debate on this thread?

And to give this reply some legitimacy...

What is the Borgata Poker Room policy on laptop usage?

If not total ban, then can I use one at an empty table? Sitting in the waiting area? At a live game, but not in a hand? In a hand, but not slowing down game? Looking up player's online stats while pondering an all-in call on the river with bottom pair?

And why is wi-fi reliability so spotty in the room? I get full strength signals, but my ipod touch and phone keep "stopping" transfers to the point where I just turn off wi-fi? Are there good areas of the room?

Men can enter the ladies event. However Borgata does not encourage it. The law allows it to occur.

If you don't understand, no logical explanation will suffice for you.

This +1. My itouch doesn't get strong wifi anywhere so whenever I want to post on here and/or stalk people on facebook I have to get up from the table. If nothing else it should at least be stronger in the high limit room imo

Because we don't want people slowing games down trying to read their itouches and eventually some clown is going to try to have a laptop in the room.

It's not about you.

It's about finding something that the fish feel like playing.

It's not about the limit - per se.

It's about finding something that the fish feel like playing.

Yes, the chip structure/color does matter... to the people WE want in the game.

IMO, pink chips games are more of a novelty then anything else.
The novelty of the pink chip game at the Trop lasted almost 7 years.

IMO.. laptops should be banned from any poker table, empty or not.

I also think that iphone/blackberry/cell use policy should be: Use your device whenever you want, as long as you are not seated at a poker table. If you want to use your device, stand up and walk away from the table. Then, talk/text/surf to your satisfaction. If you use the device while seated at a table, you should receive a 20 minute penalty for 1st offense and banned for 24 hours for subsequent offenses.

It's getting pretty ridiculous how we, as a (loosely defined) society, cannot do without some form of constant online activity.

I heard on the news today that the Congress is considering passing a nationwide law prohibiting cell use while driving a motor vehicle. About god-damn time. Pity, we have to legislate against stupidity.

Put down the phone... you're not that important!
(not directed at the OP - just a general rant)

Exactly what problem do you have with someone checking Twitter/Facebook/Email/2p2 etc from their iphone, etc. while not in a hand?

In more cases than not (at least by my personal observations), people doing that, tend to not be ready to act when the next hand is dealt, or continue to do it while participating in the hand.

And why is it so hard for people to NOT multi-task all the time?

Do you really need to be electronically connected to cyberspace 100% of the time?

If so, that's sad.

Even more sad is the constant disregard for others around them. You know, people that came to actually play poker.

For me personally, I can use my phone and not hold up the action. I text in between hands and never hold up a game. I browse 2p2 after I've folded my hand set my phone down when the dealer begins dealing. I wouldn't play somewhere that punishes that. However, I agree that those that are not being responsible and are holding up the game and abusing the privilege should be subject to various penalties. But an outright ban is a poor idea, imo.

I had a guy today tell me he thought 20 something guy playing in the seniors event was worse than playing the ladies event. I would never play either till I'm a senior but Id imagine the ladies are worse and would also play back at you more giving you a better shot to win the thing if you dont bust early so I dont exactly agree

Cell phones should NOT be banned. Just make it stricter on players holding up the game. I can see if you hold up the game then you get it banned but there are many people who can do both

Pink chips matter in a 7.50/15 game, since then the blinds are 2 chips and 3 chips instead of 1 chip and 2 chips. THAT changes the game - not the color of the chips.

But it's my understanding that they couldn't stop him on the basis that he's black/white/gay/straight/Muslim/Christian/man/woman/etc. (Age is a little trickier.) It would have to be because they don't like his hairstyle, they feel that allowing him to play would be tantamount to endorsing the use of illicit drugs, etc.

I deleted posts in between hands this weekend.

The pace of the game is slow and some of us have alot of things going on in our lives. Personally, I use my phone constantly but, never while there are cards in front of me. Even if I am planning to fold. But, as soon as my cards hit the muck, I resume whatever I was doing online.

I layed down on one of the white couches in the event center and plugged in my charger to a nearby outlet to recharge!

It'll be very soft, but I hope they get dealers who've dealt omaha and stud before.

Well, if that were 100% true, then 15-30 (or 30-60 with $10 chips) would be a better game than 20-40. But, the 20 game flourishes, while it's almost impossible to find a 15 game (on the east coast). I'd prefer 15 to 20, because of that exact blind structure - yet apparently most people do not. They prefer MORE CHIPS in the post.

That's exactly why I feel that 5-10, with pink chips would appeal to that mentality. More chips in the pot.

The reason the Trop pink game was so successful (I played in that game almost every weekend) was that people saw the size of the pots (chip count, not raw $) and viewed it as an action game. We got so many fish in that game. Those same people had virtually no clue about how to alter their play in a 2/3 chip blind structure, let alone that it actually made a difference.

Don't give people more credit than they deserve. While many 2+2'ers are willing to discuss and debate this concept ad nausium - the average recreational player does not understand, or care about it. They just want to "gamble".

That's why a 6-12 game, if played with $2 chips would also work. And, the advantage to better players there is the 2/3 blind structure. This is moot, however, since the $2 chip is not CCC approved.

The only hope of sustaining the 5-10, IMO, is to keep the game pink. The game, played with red & white, has all but died.

10-20 is a 2-4 chip game....with reds.

This is a 2-4 chip game....with pinks.....Same thing.

All (or most) limit games are played with a 2-4, 3-6, 4-8 (chip) structure for a reason.

1-2 limit games just aren't attractive.

This game DEF has to stay as a pink chip game.
FWIW 10-20 is considered a 1,2 chip game and 15-30 is considered 1-3 chip game.
