Stan, they did this in a MN casino.. what do you think of this idea?

300+35 dollar buy-in. NL poker. Blinds at 1/2 w/ no rake. unlimited re-buys, but you must be completely felted. the 'tournament' part is that all players must play for 3 hours. unless you are felted and do not re-buy. of course, you can sit out and just get blinded, but you're not allowed to cash out for the full 3 hours. they buy-in and get $5 red chips, just like a cash game. the last hand is called at the 3 hour mark, and everybody cashes out.

So you can't reload unless you are broke, and at the end of the 3 hrs everyone cashes out their "chips".

Maybe dumb, or whatever, but they did run this at a casino...

Hi Stan,

I'm a poker room regular and have been receiving the comp room / poker rate combo for a while now. I just called up and I can't seem to get the poker rate for the next couple of weeks and no comped rooms through all of April. Is there a way to check what's going wrong? My offers look correct online now (we actually spoke in person a couple months ago when they were displayed incorrectly).

I'm not sure I can PM yet (not enough posts).

Wasn't that done to circumvent laws concerning no limit cash games in Minnesota? Obviously no need to do so in NJ.

I am working on your reservation and will PM your confirmation number when completed. There will be dates that the offer or block of rooms will cease to exsist. The only two days in April that i see right now that are not available for comp room offers (sun-thu) is Apirl 14 and 16.

What limit(s) were you thinking ?
I'd definitely play a SE (stud/stud 8) game, but I'm pretty sure I'd be in the minority.

Now, a stud 8 game might have a shot, but it would have to be at the right limit/ante/BI, and start out as a Saturday @ 1PM-type of thing.

$7.50/15 pink chip stud 8 went on some random Saturdays in the past 8 months. It just never gained any momentum though.

This seems awful to me. I mean, I agree that the dealers deserve to be compensated for their efforts, but the money in the prize pool belongs to the players and it should be up to them to decide how much of it to tip.

I'm guessing that dealers have been tipped in an unsatisfactory manner and that this is an effort to make sure that they are equitably compensated.

If you were going to cash and, if you were going to tip anyway, what's the problem? You probably just don't like being told what to do. This change makes it easy for everyone.

It does work but u REALLY gotta crank it up to get anything out of it. Go way higher than it looks like should be required then leave the room for a bit and you should see an improvement.

I'm a smoker too and find the same thing a lot (all over not just B).

It went passed mid-night last night and it was strong all day today as well. Why? Becasue the game stays full. No walking. Two players went to eat together today and the game stayed 8 handed. It's after 10pm now and the game is FULL. This would never happen with O.E. If players want to play Stud 8 or better, we will spread that game. We just won't put them together.

This is a bit better than 1 hour O/8 half hour S/8 that the B switched to sometime back. Having said that .... I want to cry... I loved that SE part and was looking forward to the 4 hour drive from VA just to play it this weekend. Anyway already have a paid for room so.. this weekend I will be there in the O/8 or PLO games.. stop by and say hi to the old asian guy rebuying and trying to make nice with the dealers.

SE is the best game (well Razz maybe better) at getting monies from bad players (an extra street of free rolls and dumb calls).

I don't think you are expected to tip on top of the 3%. Of course, if you want to, then they will accept it.

You save money then, so why complain?

Did you know some dealers are tourney only? So you're only taking money out of their pockets by not tipping the normal 5%. But it's you right.

ah yeah i think you are supposed to use the thermostat thing seemed pretty standard. don't know what is up with the rooms but i was there when they did not have heat and the rooms were not super cold and the ballroom area was extra hot. but yeah i know zero about heating and cooling except that they do have thermostats in the rooms you can try to work with.

This is truly the wat to go with the SE game. Let it stand alone. Why force people to play a game that they don't want to play. I will make sure to start a list for Stud 8. Let's try to start the game on Saturday at 2pm. If you want in Chime in.

Is everybody aware that tourney dealers get paid an hourly rate much higher than regular dealers?
