It still looks like idiotic machismo. The edge is pretty small at high stakes, and will certainly take a dent when you can't even stay awake.

That's funny. I specifically remember him mentioning them on Poker Road, and he said something to the effect of "They are my friends, not just some random fans that follow me around. I have known them for a long time." And also, I think [he] mentioned having dinner with them (or something).

So essentially you're wrong about this one thing and I am going to call you a name because you don't revere Phil Ivey as a god among all other mere mortals of poker.

Phil: patrick is up...... 315
PA : sweeeeet.

Ivey : so when we gonna move to 400 / 800 ?
Durr : why don't we skip and just do 500 / 1000
Howard : hold up guys we just moved to 3 / 6, hold up we can't just go up already

I would rather watch Bob Safai, who himself acted like a jerk last time he was on PAD, in Ivey's seat....
I'm not sure you recognize the irony of your post. You seem to frown on Phil because he's a degenerate, who is bored with the game as it is being played. You are irritated with the lineup, despite the fact that out of six players it features three of the greatest NLHE players in the world, and would prefer to watch a loose action player like Bob Safai, who is actually interested in playing poker and rightly considers prop bets an unnecessary distraction. Quite ironic.

Despite that the fact that props take away the "pure" play of the poker, I still enjoy watching three of the best NLHE players in the world. If you'd prefer to watch Bob, and let me throw in the name of Jamie Gold since I didn't really understand your point and so mistakenly concluded that you just wanted to see any old action player, and the like, then I think you're just watching to see careless action players. I prefer to watch the best, whether they actually care about the game they are playing in or not, as long as they occupy a seat and pull off a couple of good bluffs. The prop bets actually seem to keep Phil from being so incredibly boring to watch as he has often been in many past televised poker games when the prop bets didn't exist. I think his play has shown that to be the case: he isn't interested in just playing great poker, he wants to gamble for big bucks with 0EV in meaningless, distracting side action; otherwise he would consider it a waste of his time, and he could hardly be bothered with the effort to concentrate on just poker.

You want Ziigmund to do a well thought out analysis? It's gonna take a whole episode I think, because he no good english speak!

Btw. Howard said "He might've made a wheel on the river" in a clearly joking way.

Anyone know of a post that explains the props?

I understand they each pick a few cards and if they hit they win.

1) How does doubles get activated? If two of the same card hits like JJ?

2) What if you are playing 10 5 3 and the flop is 103x is that doubles too?

3) Do you hit triples if it comes JJJ?

4) The doubles seems to be active for the hand after it is hit is that right?

5) How are suits involved?

I don't know why anyone analyzes any hands they played when they aren't even playing poker. These action junkies are betting 50k EACH on the outcome of the flop and these prop bets are literally influencing play. Although many hands were tainted, Zigmund's was the worst. He went all in for almost 90k into a 7.8K pot (and lost to Dwan's jacks) just because he had 2 red cards and didn't want to see the flop because he bet black. For those of you who don't know: Before they see their hands one person takes black, and another red, and then on flop whatever color shows more that person wins. If theres no flop then its a tie. It's no different than literally flipping a quarter on the side. 1.5 million on the line isn't enough for these feins, and so they wager more on coin flips than they do in the actual game. None of them do drugs(maybe rarely) that i know of, but they sure show similarities between them and an implusive cokehead. Imagine if they did some drugs and what would happen next: "What you got aces? All in? I call whatever....anyway lets bet 500k how long the waiter takes to get our drinks, and another 500k on the camera mans age. Nah thats just insane....so we better make it 2 million and a 1 million bonus if you get it exact. Also, and more importantly, loser buys the coke!!...........who are we kidding we'll both buy it anyway!!!!"

This is right. Note also that because a player with 2 of the opposite color has a .06 edge on a 50K bet, simply seeing a flop with any two black cards (if you're red) is worth 3K in EV. So Ivey's limp/calling up to 3K (or even a bit more since he can win the pot sometimes) is actually +EV.

On a similar note, I think Ivey has a pretty good edge over ziigmund in the red/black prop. Since he acts after ziigmund preflop on 5/6 hands, he has more control over what card colors see a flop.

Just from the lineup, I think Dwan/Eli are the most likely to win the most, but I think Ivey/Antonius have better E(V).

Didn't durrr agree to giving a small spot to Ivey? I don't railbird anything online. I do watch most of the TV stuff so I don't claim to know what is what. But I thought Dwan was considered the NLHE king. I thought Ivey's big edge was when he got others to play diffwerent games.

Don't get me wrong I assumed that Ivey was definetly in the top 5 of NLHE. I think whoever is the best has like a .05% edge on the other tops.

Yeah everybody hates tight players lol.

Howard appears to be much better at NLHE than Eli or Ziggy.
