By the time I get there (70mi drive) I'm ready to sit and play, and once I'm done I head straight for the door to get back on the road, so I don't fool around enough to find this stuff out.
If you get 25mpg in your car, you're spending seventeen bucks on gas to play 1/2. That's a big chunk out of any profit you could be making, no? Maybe you're playing for fun and/or trying to improve for larger stakes later?

"Profit" lol. Poker is entertainment for me. I've got a full time job I'm happy with, wouldn't go pro even if I binked a tourney and could comfortably afford it (although I'd certainly play higher). Gas prices being what they are, a trip to THR costs me $35ish cash outa pocket. I've got (a little) poker money that is strictly for the tables. I don't even tip the waitress from my stack, I give her a buck outta pocket. Trying to build it up to where I can comfortably play 1/2, as thats the lowest game available (sure Silks spreads 1/1 but thats another 30mins past THR).

My car gets 30+ mpg. I'm the ass driving 55-60 mph in the right lane going there on I-4 just to not cut into the winrate.

Have you done EV calculations to figure out your most +EV speed getting to THR? I mean you need to compare your $/hour win rate to the rate your car burns gas at different speeds so you can find your optimal strategy.

Because you could just idle the whole way there and burn the least amount of gas but that would cut into your opportunity costs of winning $X/hour.

Lol. Please do the calculations and get back to us with what the optimal speed you should drive is.

Prolly headed up tonight. Enough interest for me to ask them to throw together a 6-seater $100 tourney for 2 + 2 community?

I'd be for it but problem is that nature of the beats is that it never closes and people are going to want to leave at different times. Month or so ago a friend convinced me to drive with him for short session, leaving to come home no later than 10 p.m.

He drove. Got stuck and tilted. We left at 3:30 a.m.

Why not get together near where you live for some heads-up private game?

I'm not sure I'd want the empty seat at my juicy 2/5 game occupied by a 2+2'er when I could take my chances of getting a donk from board.

Ahhh read the fine print. They covered themselves. Even so, they're the Seminole's, they can do as they please.

Just when you thought things could not get more mickey mouse at THR, they instituted the best new rule of all time.

Brushes can no longer color up players.

Options:
1. play with a mound of chips in front of you
2. color up your chips yourself

Yes, I just said that right. Players are required to rack up their chips, and walk up to the cage and color them up themselves. And then bring them back to the table.

No room for messing that up right??

This place never ceases to amaze me...

Dealers are apparently not in the loop on this, and as if they did not have enough going on, they now have to remember how much a player left the table with and also make sure they come back with the same amount. What a joke.

buy in for $100.... win a small pot and "color up" during a dealer change easy game imo.

And miss up to an entire orbit because the lines at the cage are ridiculous.

What's the rationale for doing this? Are the brushes really that swamped? Puhleeze.

One of the brushes made a big error when coloring someone up so instead of dealing with it they just say no more color up from the brush. lol

Whats been bugging the crap out of me lately is that somehow part or all of some decks are made up of the old style cards that had the number on the cards much farther from the top edge. So you might be looking at an 8 of spades and 8 clubs but one has the number near the top edge like it should and the other has the number 1 inch farther down. Its annoying as hell. When will they run a room like professionals.

How do the brushes feel about this? Don't most people tip when coloring up? I would think they would fight against this rule

How big of an error can you make? It isn't rocket science.

On the plus side, coloring at the cage will speed the game up.

Other than that, I don't like the change at all. People will be going south and adding random chips at will. It's hard enough to keep track of some of these scumbags when their chips have to stay on the table.

They are actually pretty pissed about this. It is less tips coming this way...

From talking to a couple supervisors and brushes, I could say more and name names, but a certain person here would get their panties in a wad. Basically it's the poker room manager's rule at this point. (cant name him, you know who he is)

It's just another reason THR is fantasy land when it comes to professionalism and customer service.

Even MANDALAY BAY doesnt stoop to these levels, and they are about the biggest rule nazi's of any poker room I have ever played in.

And they would probably charge you for a missed blind too if you did this.

This is coming directly from H, the brushes are not happy. Something about his interpretation of Title 11, even though that only applies for transactions over 5 grand (lol)

How do you figure? I have never seen a brush coloring someone up slow down the game. Never once.

One can usually do multiple partial color up's with the dealer, assuming you don't want anything over 25's. But I have played 2/5 NL with $2K in almost all reds, and it was not that big of a deal.
