Yea j9 i feel u tho i folded pocket jacks last night when the flop had two aces..why on earth did he bet half pot on the flop i dont know..but i fold and show and he shows quads..like ******...runner runner was comin lol.. His reasoning? He wanted me to pay incase i was drawing bc if i got to see turn and river for free and didnt hit then i wouldnt pay him off anything extra...i gave him one of those blank stares while blinking back to back...racked up and went home.

Interesting Questions/Comments for Northeastern: Please respond with your feedback.

I come down to Tampa a few times a year. I have some questions and comments about the "new" poker room.

I was still wondering if they still have the same rake and jackpot collection policies. That being 10% up to 5 even if there is no flop and $1 jackpot collection even if there is no flop. It is pretty bad but normal for FL.
Is bottled water still free? Alcohol, yea right, but maybe?

Also are they still using the same large picture stud cards/blackjack cards? They are horrible for the game. I understand that some older people may prefer them, but when you look at your hand you need to lift them higher and hence your neighbors may see your cards.

I also find that the dealers often deal very sloppy and flashing cards left and right. Im all for a fast dealer, but not when they put way too much air on the cards, which already have print much easier to see when they pitch them. This doesn't expose the cards, just flashes them. It happens at least 20% of hands dealt. People in the one and ten seats are especially vuenerable to it. I refuse to sit in those seats for more than a few minutes for that reason.

I now use it to my advantage after the following:

This African guy from Benin (forgot his name) who deals at night especially does that. A few months ago he flashed the one seats second card so I honestly said I saw a black paint card. Wow that was a mistake. The idiot dealer said so what does that mean. Implying that a it was insignificant. Well you moron the chance of him having a black paint card is 6/52 = 11.5%. The dealer was very rude and made some comments to me. I had two guys at the table verbally attack me along with that dealer. He did in fact have the J of clubs. Which he showed after the hand completed. Wow, so much for keeping the integrity of the game. If I hit the bad beat jackpot (I wish it never existed, big rip off for 2-5+ players) I would tip that guy monopoly $ in an envelope. He really caused me to get it to altercations with other players, when I was trying to do the right thing.

That brings another point. I have played poker in basically every major poker room in the US and many in Europe. I have never seen such greedy, spoiled and unappreciative dealers. THEY GET OVER TIPPED LIKE CRAZY. They don't understand that a person who plays often, basically full time such as myself is tipping poker dealers about $5,000+ a year after tax $. If I ship a $400 pot in 2-5 NL and net $250 there is no reason for me to give more than $1-$2 tip. GET REAL. Well I would say 75% of the dealers would drop the $2 tip hastily and not say thank you. Well that's it no thank you, no more tips. I have about 5 dealers in that room I will never tip for various reasons, not cause I didn't receive a Thank You. I may mention them in later posts, quite interesting and funny stories.

I honestly think the dealers have it way too good. When they pass you a pot they make sure there is no $1 chips, trying to force you to tip $2. Most rooms don't even have $2 chips outside of FL. DO NOT be embarassed asking for $1 back. People say its only a $1 but over the course of the year it is hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Also people win lets say a $400 pot in 2-5. They think one chip is not an acceptable tip so they are throwing many: $4 $6 or $8+. Wow you guys are nuts. What about when you lose that size pot, does the dealer take care of you. These dealers are making in upwards of $90,000+ a year. That is insane for this type of work, in Tampa where the cost of living is fairly low compared to NY where I live. I all for taking care of the dealer, but it is based on their personality.

Anywhere I've played, whether Vegas, Cali, AC, Biloxi..... the dealers almost always say thank you even if deep down they are not pleased with the tip. TAMPA dealers make you know they are not pleased.

Last bit. This older gentleman was getting hammered in $2-5. He finally doubled up with his last $180 turning into $360. He gave Amy from Kansas who also works at night and is a @$!#% a $1 tip. Amy really showed her dissatisfaction with the tip, which she often does. So another regular who is friendly with Amy gives her $5 and tells the older gentleman next to him, this
is how you tip. The gentleman was very embarassed and shortly left. WHY SHOULD AMY MAKE HIM FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE, BECAUSE SHE DID APPROVE OF HER TIP. What about the over tips she gets on other pots. You take the good with the bad, but always be professional. I KNOW AMY WON'T EVER GET ANYTHING FOR ME.

I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR SOME FEEDBACK. I HAVE A NEW WORLDWIDE CASINO POKER ROOM REVIEW WEBSITE COMING SOON.... It will have rake, buy-ins, comps, drinks service, discount hotel rates, dealer quality and lots more. STAY TUNED!

Rake is the same. It's 10% up to 5, and $1 jackpot. Rake is rounded down, unlike many other Tampa rooms. Bottled water is free and soda is free. Alcohol is not.

Not sure, but I'm pretty sure they're using the cards you're referring to.

Careful mentioning names. If you mention names of dealers, it's likely your post will get deleted, or censored.

This is true, but isn't really the dealers fault. When a pot is over $50, they drop a red chip, and then break another red chip into 2 purples and a white. The white one goes down the BBJ drop, and you end up getting the 2 $2 chips back. That's just because of how the rake structure is.

There are a lot of bad dealers at THR, but also many good/friendly dealers as well. Just don't tip the dealers who you feel are being rude. EZ game.

I will make more comments on this later but Yes you are right greedy unappreciative dealers for sure at Hard Rock. You are incorrect on the 90K+, even in the good days a few years ago closer to 50K with 4 day schedule. Much less now tho.

And alot of the dealers do color up whites in the pot in any game to make it $2 chips the smallest. which is bs.

Yeah after you left I had a couple good hands with pocket Qs and one solid hand with pocket Ks and cashed out with $50 profit.

After my dreadful big blind special of 2 pair that happened to run into a higher 2 pair on the turn that took out a good chunk of my stack, I was happy to be up for sure. I dropped down to as little as like $20 at one point.

I'll probably head down late tonight, too.

Regarding the $2 chips, I noticed this the only time I played at Tampa HR. At the 2-5 tables, they are used heavily by the dealers. I play at Hollywood HR sometimes, and I notice that they will VERY RARELY used $2 chips at the 2-5 tables (and if they do they only do for a rake or jackpot rake). I even commented to a Tampa dealer about it and he said that "players here like the $2 chips" or something to that effect. All that said, it's really not a big deal to ask a dealer to change the chip into 2 whites. I've never seen a dealer pissed when that happened.

I did not know this.

Is free water/soda only at certain table stakes or any in the poker room?

Dollar tip on a soda or water is good enough, yes?
