No, it was on a 1/2. One of the guys at my table said he had moved from that table. Table 23ish.

And he probly thinks he would have hit Jackpot if he stayed. lol
Most people think like that but not true. If 1 hand was dealt 9 handed when he got up then all cards were different from that point on.
Also the slightest difference changes everything such as him playing a hand that the new guy would not of etc. It would change the mix of the cards for future hands.

Unless he was replaced. Although I guess it would have to be without skipping a single hand.

parisron, as lame as it is I was randomly just thinking about that situation last week. Not really for the BBJ, but for pots or cards people would have won, when one kid said "damn I would be kililng it if I just stayed in that seat", where another young kid was raking $100 pot after $100 pot.

I thought, actually thats not true, even the slightest thing to alter the timing of the hands, would make the shuffle and cards totally different. Therefore, it is totally an illusion. If the cards are shuffled even one milisecond after, they are going to have a totally different order.

Then again, I am one of the guys who actually got up to use the phone 3 years ago and came back and my table had hit the jackpot when I was gone. Of course, that doesn't happen unless I leave either.

This makes me think of a funny story that happened a few years ago at Tampa Hard Rock back in the $100 buyin days. It was the spade royal flush jackpot then not the badbeat, real nice number at the time around $300k i believe. Two guys switched seats for whatever reason and one of them hit the bad beat. The cards were in the process of being dealt when they moved so the other guy would have hit it forsure. The winner had the courtesy to throw the guy he switched with $500 lol. Dont know if i could live with myself after that one.

I heard the Friday nite tournament usually has a big overlay. Is this true? How many players are normally in the tourney?

Not entirely true. THR uses two decks and a shufflemaster. So the one hand with only 9 players would not have affected the jackpot hand since there are two decks, the one that dealt the bad beat, being shuffled as the 10th player is being seated. No butterfly effect on this one.

Wrong. The action of the two players being seated will make the dealer twitch his hands slightly different, thus effecting where he cuts the deck at before he deals.

Yea the new player would have given the dealer their player card to swipe in right before the deal and that would tweak the dealers hand motions enough to change the cut location.
The point is that most people really believe that if they changed tables and 1 hour later the jackpot hit on their previous table that they would have won. When you can see how the slightest thing even on 1 hand can change everything.

Same way people think when they move seats and their previous seat gets hot that they would have got the same cards as the other player. Not true because playing some hands when the other player would have folded will change the cards completely.

Yep, I was thinking of this at some kid hopping around to the hot seat. In reality there is no hot seat, and the cards are going to be different because the timing, cuttiing, etc. are all different.

Na, that would kill their 2/4 game, which unfortunately is their bread and butter. They make the most money from that game and it's unfortunate the BBJ gets hit at 2/4 when you consider that at least half the drop (or more) comes from no limit tables...

Anyone interested in stating a 25/50 game here sometime this week? would be nice to get a regular 25/50 off the ground. Plus the outrageously stupid floor at HR tampa might let us pay time rake if we start a big game, I doubt it but its possible.

Not only do I think this game will never go off at THR, (because no one wants to put that much money at risk from a floor decision), but also because of the WSOPC events south starting up tomorrow. I was down this last weekend and we got a 25/25/50nl/pl game going. That and the 5/10 plays bigger than most 10/25's. If you want a game that's where I'd head. I know if I'm not in a tournament ATM that's where you'll find me

Better question: Did the players actually agree to paying $5 a hand?

Was it that new fish in town with the long hair? some blonde kid is always pushing for straddles or to bump it, and he always wants heads up at the end.

If u see some blonde kid with long hair he sucks/will play heads up. Hes really terrible and says he owns a porn site, but i heard his dad owns costco.

Are there any casinos that DON'T use card shufflers in the Tampa area? If so which ones, thanks!

Long story but shuffle master shufflers operate on an RNG just like online, and I don't think they run true to real world hand shuffled odds. I know they cut the deck but if you think about it, no matter how you cut the deck the bottom is always on the top...
