That is correct. Both parties must complete the transfer at the Tampa Poker Room.

I heard they were giving 6 seats away on Sat, so 60-something entries. The Saturday before that it didn't run.

Scott

Can you bring up increasing the buyin for the 1/2 PLO? Since everyone straddles anyway make it a 1K max.

I think the way to make this happen is to make the straddle officially mandatory. Without doing that, the argument from management will be that it's only a 1/2 game (technically), and if you want higher buy-ins you should start a 2/5 PLO list.

So Scott, how about a true mandatory straddle? And with that, bump up the min/max accordingly and (this is something we should have already) make it a $1/hr comp game. It's ridiculous that a game that plays bigger than 2/5 NL is only $.60. Thanks.

Oh, and since it's now the biggest game that runs in the room on an everyday basis, can we please keep the game in the back? We certainly need the deeper wells. (And also we froze our asses off on Table 13 yesterday for no apparent reason.)

Don't play PLO, so it won't affect me, but I was wondering if someone could explain the advantage of having a game with a mandatory straddle, vs just making the game 2/5 PLO? If everyone wants a bigger game, why not just make it a bigger game, which would then make the min/max larger anyway? Or what about a 3 blind game like they had for a while, where I think it was 5/10/20 NL?

Is there some reason/advantage to go with a mandatory straddle versus the other structures?

Thanks.

2/5 with an optional $10 straddle is a much bigger game than 1/2 with a $5 mandatory straddle, since someone puts the optional straddle on in PLO almost every hand.

I am all for increasing the min buy in to atleast 200. 100 is a joke and it slows down the game when someone is rebuying every 3rd hand. I also agree the comps should be $1/hr for that game as well. The Omaha game should be played in the back section. That will attract more people to play the game and maybe even spread another table

Exactly what PokerX said. 2/5 PLO always ends up as 2/5/10 the majority, if not every hand. It's fine when that game goes on Friday and Saturday nights, but it wouldn't be a sustainable everyday game in the long term in this room.

Also, for some reason, the jackpot $ is such a huge driving force as to why the 1/2 gets started every day and not the 2/5 from what I've gathered. There is a small group of players, that are great for the game, that will not play 2/5 with the time rake specifically because of the JP drop.

I'm ok with it being a mandatory straddle game. And .60 cents a hour is a joke even if it was just a 1/2 PLO with no straddle.

This is basically the 2-5 PLO game we already offer.

We generally put it back there, but I cannot guarantee it will ALWAYS be back there.

2-5 PLO can be played with a regular rake and JP drop.

Question for the tourney players among us. If you had just one chance to play in the satellite, given they all will pay 1 seat per 10 entries, is any size satty better than another? Disregard the turbo v non turbo aspect; i get that part.

But is it "easier" or "more likely" to say win first place in a 10 man satty versus 10th place in a 100 man satty, or say 5th place in a 50 man satty. I get it's always top 10%, but was wondering if thre was a difference, sort of like if you are in the top 10% academically in a school of 100 students versus making the top 10% in a school with 1000.

Hope the question makes sense. Thoughts?

The more the merrier. You don't have to win all the chips.

In a 10-man satellite, only the biggest stack at the end gets a seat. In an 100-man satellite, you can have the smallest of the top ten and still get a seat. OTOH, the more players there are, the longer the tournament lasts and therefore the longer you have to last. Still, a bigger satellite is usually the better choice imo. (And, in fact, due to the turbo style and smaller field of this month's satellites, I'm planning to only play the August ones.)
