im planning on flying there next week. whats a good area to stay in preferably close to beach and cheap transportation to the hotel. not planning to spend much on a room doesnt matter to me how many stars it has and what type of games are usually spread there during the week. thx

Back to complaining. The promos for next month suck.

Yup. I just got the email and they are repeating the high hand promotion, and tweaking it based on the time of day you hit it.

Seems clear that they are thinking two things. #1 they are not interested in rewarding grinding because they figure those players are going to show up, anyway, regardless of the promotion #2 they are trying to increase business during off peak hours.

The thing that sucks is that they are taking the jackpot drop $ from the base and using a ton of it to try to appeal to their non-base of players. I guess I understand the promotional theory of it, but its not very endearing to regular players.

If Ron's promo report for march is true, it's around 10% as good as the gas card promo, but much better than the "ZERO percent as good" February promo, which kept me OUT of THR all month. Maybe I'll go a couple times in March.

Lol this assessment is spot on. Would be nice to have some free roll incentives like they had last year for WPT held in Hollywood, even nicer would be gift card promos. Alas let us see what spring/summer bring for the Tampa players.

how are the players are they tighg or weak, both. i play at horseshoe in louisville and it has gotten rediculously tight. hardly no action at all anymore

I'm much more of a high hand chaser rather than an hours guy but even I think these promos stink. Is rather go to any other room and chase there then grind at THR for subpar promos. Was really hoping the tournament idea was happening I'm gonna try and play a few more this month, starting with the 550 on the second.

No, there IS money in that tourney. $20,000 guarnateed to be exact. And I have yet to play a tourney in tampa where I've seen more than 25% actual good players

which casino gets more action tampa or lauderdale? i work for a airline and im deciding on flying out to one. also what one would have cheaper hotels around. ty

Head to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood for more action. I don't know much about the hotel situation, but I think that the cheap Tampa motels that are nearby are sketchier.

Sketchy, really? I have not stayed at these but they seem pretty nice, 1 mile away is red roof inn, holiday inn express, la quinta and comfort suites.

If your talking the skid row cheap motels on hillsborough then yea those are sketchy and they are pretty scary in hollywood for sure.

IMO Ron should get paid by the room for all the time he puts in on this board and for his willingness to provide info. to people.

What amazes me is that a guy who is just a player at THR is so helpful and willing to answer questions while the room manager doesn't bother to post here or address any issues. When Jack of Hiding Under the Rock did post he (they) posted under a fake name and used this forum to promote their tournament without addressing any substantive issues.

Compare the Hollywood promo PDF with the crappy e-mail Tampa sends out.

Here's a rule of thumb: If the promo is too difficult to explain on a poster/PDF, then it's not a simple enough promo to attract business. The Tampa flyer just says "Rewards based on hand ranks" and "Rewards based on time of day..."
