5k max is pretty ridiculous, it should be 500 -2k or 3k, when people here 500 to 5K buy in the 5k part is a real turn off cause people don't want to look silly back there sitting with 500 next to someone with 5k, just my opinion. Also when the game sucks back there, it makes it even worse when you raise to 35-40 pre and take the blinds and they still rake 3.00. It's an absolute joke.

I agree that is one issue. 1k min 3k max is what i would go with. They also need to improve the look and feel of that area.Upgrade the chairs, put in larger tv's,maybe upgrade the tables, remove one table(replace with sofa etc).

Changes:
1) Teach the floors how to play poker so they can make proper decisions
2) Eliminate the silly $600+ buy-in needs floor approval rule (entire room)
3) Get a real freaking rule book and stick to it.
4) Make 5/10 a $1,500 min-buy or drop the 2/5 to $800
5) Allow Racener back
6) ?
7) Profit

I kid, I kid..... kinda.
Good Thoughts. I would go with 1k on the min buy in. I think $1500 might delete the pool of 5/10 players too much.

Upgrading the TV's and the service to HIGH DEF like even the most rinky-dink sports bar you can find, would be nice.

Can't get over how terrible that Royal Flush promo is, LOL. My $200 gas card barely lasted the month and I'd be thrilled to have that again every month they don't have the WPT dollars.

They're probably saving up their reserves for a really good July/Aug promo related to the $10 milly.

Not sure on 1 yet, and no on 2...but 3 is a yes, you can use comp money in addition to the WPT dollars earned in May toward buyins for the WPT tourneys.

The board said 140-something I think (not sure if that counts people that have already registered for day 2 though). Pretty sure they played down to 23.

Welcome to the thread, Scott!

A lot of us regulars miss the $150 per week gas card and similar value promotions. Can you tell us if there are any plans to have those again in the future, or can we expect the recent single $200 gas promotion from here on out? And in case you're interested in feedback, I know I can speak for the entire board to at least be against the promotion involving $5,000 Royal Flush payouts a few times per month. ;-) Thank you for joining us in the thread!

Appreciate your presence her, Scott. What has happened to promotions at the Hard Rock that reward regular players with assured payouts for specified numbers of hours of play? There are been no such promotions this year other than the $200 gas promotion that was 1/3 the amount of previous ones. Why not study the Hollywood Hardrock promotions, which are far more regular-friendly than Tampa's? Instead of a bad beat promo which randomly awards a tiny number of players, why not put the promotional dollars back in the hands of the regulars that produce them? Gas cards, Visa Cards, on-going high hands each month, etc not bad beats and tournament credits that attract no players and don't reward regulars.

I agree with most, but if I'm a regular and also play tournaments the 3 $ wpt credit is a nice promo. I've used mine to play a few single table satellites, didn't fair well, but still a chance to freeroll into a 515 or ME isn't horrible.

I do agree that if Tampa Hard Rock would look at the promos that Hollywood and if you haven't seen Coconut Creek runs some great promos as well and see how to incorporate some of them. Hollywood takes 2 $ jp drop, and seach back about 200-300 pages and you can see the arguments that took place about that.

I for one am happy to someone from the room make it on here. I know they've tried in the past but if Scott you can come on address concerns and see about finding compromise, this could be the best room in the area.

Nice to see a poker room rep for THR become active here! Welcome, Scott.

I've noticed a lot of positive change at THR lately, especially in providing full disclosure of all terms and conditions for promotions, etc.

Certainly providing a better range of monthly promotions, like those offered at the Hollywood property, would be an improvement.

Could you tell me if all of the money which goes into the Poker Promotions fund is used exclusively for promotions to poker players in the THR poker room, or do some of the funds go to promotions either at other Seminole poker rooms or to promotions outside the poker room at THR (such as the jackpot prizes on the slots floor)? The wording of the sign at the poker room which addressed this was a bit ambiguous on this point.

$3 for wpt is fine once and a while, but these promotion do not bring in people to the room. Also, if your don't play tourneys then 1/3 of the year you miss out.

Running a $5k royal for certain days of the week is a pathetic promotion.

Or a gas card that the regulars earn in a week is not thought through very well. That promotion should have had a step system to earn larger ones. After the first couple of weeks in that promotion the room became less and less busy.

Make promotions that are geared toward bringing people into the room and keeping the money in the room.

Spinning the wheel was a good try at something different and the visa card a week keeps the room busy.

Bottom line is it seems the people making these promotions obviously don't spend a lot of time in the poker room finding out what actually will enhance their poker room.

Very encouraging that we finally have a THR rep for this thread! (Aside from Jack of Rock's four or five posts back whenever that was, of course.)

Welcome, Scott.

Naturally, I second everything that's being said (well, has been said for a long time) about the weak promos. Also, it's gotta be time to upgrade the chairs.

I'm guessing the poor promotions result from (1) the promotion decision makers have little poker experience or (2) they have the requisite experience but just don’t care or (3) the over-riding promotion priority is to minimize employee time spent administering promotions (as opposed to rewarding regulars or attracting players). Spinning the wheel, for example, took quite a bit of employee time. Bad beat jackpots, on the other hand, rarely happen and one supervisor can handle it.

Welcome Scott. Glad to see you on this forum. Hopefully you will take time out each day to read the forum and provide comments, information and feedback. In the past, many poker rooms have had someone sign up as a rep only to quickly vanish. Hopefully that will not be the case here.

Hey Scott, hopefully you really do end up having an active presence on this forum. I really think it could help your room out a lot.

While I understand that what is best for the regs promo-wise may not be best for rec players or the room as a whole, this 5k royal "promo" garbage has gotta stop. Even putting that money towards a future promotion and having no promo for a month would be a better idea. All it is good for is getting everyone in the room complaining, talking about where else to play and the promos other places have, and I guess having some extra o8 tables 4 days a month.
