Is this the best casino to play at in Tampa? And would you recommend Tampa over Jacksonville?

Yes for sure the best place in Tampa area to play and its the only real casino in central and North Florida.

Its been a year or 2 since I have been to Jacksonville, its a decent place but my vote is Tampa hard rock, better rake and more foot traffic.

Place is a ****-show right now...been waiting an hour and my name just reached the screen. 1/2 has 57 and counting on the wait list. They've opened 3 tables while I've been waiting, none of them 1/2...ugh

Gotta juice the brushes pockets, Only takes a red bird to get a seat pretty quickly. Also good to know the brushes for when u need to transfer to juicier table. The table transfer system there is sub par to say the least. $5 usually gets the job done quickly enough.

You swipe your players card at the poker tables and the computer keeps track. You can check your hours at the kiosk next to the cashier by swiping your card and it tells you how many hours you have for promos and how much $ you have in comps.

Going to the website only tells you about slot points.

It doesn't sound like anything that ever runs at hard rock. Sounds like what runs at Tampa bay downs(silks poker room).

The THR has a separate comp points system for the poker room versus the slots. So when you log into the website with your player card, you will only see slot points that have accumulated.

To see how many comp dollars you have from poker, you need to swipe your card at the machine across from the brush stand.

This is the same reason why you have to get a paper comp slip from the poker room to spend them, compared to slot players who can just give the cashier their player card and have the points deducted directly.

There is also I think 25/50 private game at Derby Lane. I believe that runs on Thursday nights.

There was a 5/10 NLHE/PLO going on Monday night while I was playing the 1pm on Monday. It broke sometime around 7ish.

It has been quite a few months but silks is where I played in it. I had heard that it was going to start taking place at derby but they needed the floor to let them run the game first. Not sure if it ever got off the ground or not.

10/20 has been running there very regularly, I can confirm there hasnt been 25/50 all week, Ive actually seen a few horrid 2/5 old timers that are "considered 2/5 regs" sitting in that 10/20 game , it looks amazing to say the least!

10/20 nlh? I typically don't play that much hold'em. Are they doing PLO/nlh?

So tonight they had their $400 20k guaranteed tourney at 7 pm. Registration is open through first 2 levels in this tournament. So with 4 min left of late reg I went and signed up. When I got to my seat, some one else was there playing my chips, as they had accidentally sat at table 47-5 instead of 44-5.

No big deal really but they moved the guy back to his assigned seat and transferred the Chips over from that seat to mine. Ok so here is where I have a question.
I'm immediately dealt into the big blind of 100 and I take my dealer add-on. There are a bunch of limps and I check/check-fold flop.

My original plan of the night was to go back to my 5-10nl game and play it out for another hour or 2 and then head back to the tournament once we were in antes.
As soon as I sit back down at my cash game, the floor guy tells me I'm not allowed to play 2 games at once. So I tell him that I wanted to play cash for another hour or 2 and then I'd go back to the tourney, to which he refused to allow me to do.

There was no list for the 5-10nl game I was in and there were open seats. He goes on to claim that because I looked at my cards in the big blind and checks, then theoretically I've "played" a hand in the tournament already and thus can't play both games. If I wouldn't have looked and acted on my hand he claims to would have let me stay in cash game. (but I'd get a penalty for folding out of turn)

Am I in the wrong here or was this floor guy really just being a deuche?

You don't really need us to tell you how stupid the floor guy was, do you? I'm sure some Ahole will chime in here to argue on the guys behalf about what the rules are, or some goddamed thing. But your common sense should be able to override that. Obviously he wanted to use his supreme powers to MAKE you play the tourney, since it's the logical thing to do for you at this point. But suppose you just refused to play the tourney until Ante time. You would have to just stand around doing nothing? lol. That's what I'd've done - and just starred at him the entire time, no matter where he is in the room. At some point his pea brain would have to realize you may as well be sitting at the cash game.

I especially enjoyed the part about getting a penalty for folding out of turn if you decided not to play your hand. Lol, hard rock so stupid.

I was seat 4 on the 5/10 when this went down. I was always under the assumption you could jump in between cash games and tourneys your currently playing I think durrrr did something like this at the wsop maybe it was 2 tourneys. Nevertheless I don't see the harm in letting you play both simultaneously even though you weren't trying
To do that. Floorman obv just needed to show who was
Sheriff in this spot.

They did the same thing to me at derby when I made day 2 of one of the recent wpt's. It's a strange rule that is never enforced consistently. IMO, if someone wants to juice up a prize pool and then blind out they should be allowed.
