Did anyone confirm December's promos? I heard something about double hourly comps ($1.20 for 1/2 & 1/3 & $2.00 for 2/5? every day of the month) and a high hand giveaway (not sure of numbers) starting when Derby runs their WPT tournaments? Do you guys think these, if accurate, will attract the casual players?

Any chance the Hard Rock will allow the Bravo App to start reporting the current games?

Busted from today's WPT Event #1 a short time ago.

The TD made a rule change after the tournament start that was eminently unfair, imo. Tourney was sold out at 350 seats. Re-entries were available for bust-outs during the first two hours. Just after the start, the TD decided to allow alternates to buy seats - if anyone busted and didn't re-enter, the seat was sold to an alternate. This meant that the tourney cap jumped from the advertised 350 players to over 450, new players kept coming into the tourney, and no seat went empty until after the end of the re-entry period.

What a joke.

Could the alternate re-enter if they busted out within the same 2 hours? And if they didn't was there an alternate alternate?

So then for all the events there really isn't a cap, but how many they can cram in during the registration period?

This may be a really stupid question, but I've rarely played MTTs and never a rentry tournament so here goes. What is the unfairness/downside to allowing an alternate buying in versus the original player who busted? Or of the cap size increasing? Is it just that it potentially makes the tournament last a lot longer than originally planned, or does it have something to do with stack sizes, etc?

Just wondering. Thanks.

Two problems. First, they changed the rules of the game after people had signed up. Same as changing the levels or anything else. Simply no kosher. People bought in and paid their rake based on it being "x" and then the house changes it's mind just to make more money? Not the way to run a tournament.

But the actual problem is the second issue and this is that the two options are very different and result in different play. If someone busts and re enters, they are in for 2 buy ins obviously. They may play tighter. They may play looser trying to get to the money. Whatever, they have a different starting point and outlook than a new person who is only in for one buy in. Plus the players at the table now have to learn the style of a new perso. When they bought into the tournament they did so being told that they wouldn't have to do that - they would only have to learn "these" people. Then that changed and they had to learn how a lot more people play.

The argument that they had to beat more people is a bit weaker, because they knew that they may have to "beat" more than 350 "stacks" but it is stil also a difference.

Overall, just very bad form what HR did here.

IMO, HR is just new to having a tournament series and just didn't think about alternates becasue they didn't know that many people would show up.
So with 200 people standing there ready to play after 350 were seated then why the hell not make them alternates. I was happy to have 100 extra people get in the tournament and make it 458 instead of 350.

I really don't think its that big of a deal, if it had been on the main event or something then that might be different but HR learned and they will likely have alternate lists from now on.

BTW, I think they did a good job of running the event, especially with it being their 1st real tournament.

For anyone who was there today, were there huge lines/wait times for the cash games due to all the tables being tied up with the tournament? Is it worth coming down to play cash the next two weeks, or do you think it's best to go somewhere else?

Thanks.
