On Friday evening around midnight - Aces full of eights were beaten by aces full of Kings. The jackpot dropped to just over $ 170,000 and the mini-jackpot was reset to four duces.

The Jackpot went over 200K (the mini reached 50K) on Monday - so on Tuesday the mini bad beat will start it's climb down the ladder.

I'm also curious... Can you telephone the poker room before heading over (for example, from your room, or from another casino) and ask to be put on the waiting list with a "lock up"? Works the same way?
You can call from anywhere to have your name put on the list; you don't have to be in a casino to do it nor do you have to be a hotel guest of the Borgata. I usually call from my car.

It was a 1/2 table, and it was the quietest BBJP hit I had ever heard. They just stood up, and did a small round of applause, and that was it...

Heard more noise in a $100 donkament final table...

Edit to add: just to be clear, the ^ information obv pertains to the call in along with the request for a lock up.

Good to know. I heard you couldn't call in from off property.

So you can call in but not 'lock' ?

So if your name comes up then you auto drop off the list if you aren't there yet?

what number do you call? i forget where i read it... might have been in a room... but i know there written policy was that only hotel guests could call in to get on a list. of course borg is pretty good in terms of short waits to get called outside of tourney series.

Yes, you can call the poker room, *even if you're off the property*, to put your name along with a lock up on the waiting list. When they call your name, you will automatically be given a 10 minute lock up whether you're in the room or not. Now, upon arrival, first, you should go to the sign-in desk to see if your name(Tm77) is still on the list. And, if you're still up there, then you'll just wait until you're called, like you normally would. But, if you notice that your name is no longer on the waiting list, then obv. you were called for your seat and you'll want to track down a Floorperson who's working the area where your game is usually played, and ask them if they have your seat. They'll know if your 10 minute lock up has expired or not, and you'll be taken to your seat if your time hasn't expired and you'll be instructed to put your name back on the list if you didn't answer to your call within the 10 minutes that you were given.

The phone number that I use is: (609) 317-8261

No problem.

(Only bad thing is now there's going to be a lot more "77's" on their sign up board, so let's hope not too many people notice this).

We really should be using the Cone of Silence for these kinds of conversations.

Well, the positive thing is most lurking and reading this are regulars at the B so I don't think it will be an issue. But we shall see in the next couple of months.

Tbh, most of the players that request lock ups, play in games with a very small turnover, or, they play in a game that only spreads 1 or 2 tables at any given time.

Example: I play mix games and the player pool is quite small, and there's usually only 1 game running at the limits that I feel comfortable playing in, so, if I were to put myself on the list without asking for a lock up and I happened to miss my name being called by, say, three or four minutes...it might take me three or four hours before my name gets called again. So, having that 10 minute cushion makes it a lot less of a headache.

If you play $2/5 NL, its definitely a bonus to have the lock up, it's not nearly as imperative because players are continuously getting up, moving around etc. as the turnover is rather high. And, of course, for anyone who plays $1/2 NL, imo, they shouldnt need to use the lock up(77) because there's just so many tables, that even if you were 9th on the list, I bet the wait wouldn't be real long anyway.

No it's not, I have put my name on the list for 1-2 stepped outside the room walked to Wolfgang's and back, my name was called taken off the list and had to be put back on. All that took like 6 min. All together. I was sitting at a table in another 5. Sometimes I just go in, find a floor person ask if anything is open at a 1-2 more than half the time I am looking at 7-2o or k-2s in a couple of min. Wondering why I posted....

Couple of gripes and a question...

Bad Beat fun: 3 aces on board and a player asks the table or anyone listening in general, "Hey I'm not sure what the bad beat rules are, can anyone explain them?" I begin to explain, and the dealer cuts me off and says "You can't say anything in the middle of a hand." I say something along the lines of "I am just going to tell him how the BBJP works, not what to do with a particular hand or anything." And he says that the bad beat may be invalidated if I keep talking. Unreal. I confirmed with the floor person that nothing I was doing was out of line. They really need to educate their dealers better on this ...total BS that could have cost me and the table thousands (player had an eligible hand and mucked).

In-room Dining fun: So I may or may not have placed an order at 3am from my room, I really do not remember. I was either asleep or not in my room to receive the order. I get a voicemail in the wee hours of the morning on my hotel phone that I will be charged for the order of $57.00, even if I do not receive it. I called them the next day and asked what the deal was, apparently they charged me $16.00 for an order of chicken tenders and the girl couldnt tell me if I had ordered anything else. I said that I had received a message that I would be charged $57.00. She said, "Well, if you were supposed to be charged more, we will have to do an investigation." So not only did I get charged for something I never received, I got a threatening voicemail that I would be charged for $57.00 and after calling them, they could not even tell me what I ordered but would do an investigation if it were necessary to charge me more for a service never received. Now thats what I call A+ service from the number one resort in AC.

Granted, I was probably wasted and made some stupid order and fell asleep, but where is the common sense? Where is the "Hey let's box this up and give it to him later" or "Hey he ordered $16 worth of perishables and the rest was booze/soda/etc?" Unbelievably rude idiots running the show down there at In Room Dining. I spent over $400.00 in the week I was there and they treat me like this? Sweet.

More Bad Beat fun: If you have quads with one card, and your kicker is higher than the board, meaning both of your cards technically play, does it still qualify? Nobody in the casino knew the answer to this question...

Borg has done a terrible job of informing players and dealers about the BB Frenzy. Everyday there are players who are unfamiliar Frenzy rules because the signage is practically nonexistent.

"If the winning or losing player has made a four-of-a-kind, that player must have a pocket pair to qualify."

there are tons of chat about this in the atlantic city regional thread.

dan is right, hitchhike!

but in other options... china town bus will be cheapest but hard to get on if you don't speak chinese (or at least look chinese). then buses from port athority. academy on the lower level of the south building is $40. greyhound from the lower level of the north building is $44 weekday and $49 weekend.

greyhound has nicer buses and a more frequent schedule but the lines are also long so get there well ahead of when you want to depart.

all buses will give $25 in slot play once you arrive at a casino. learn video poker strategy and you can turn that $25 into $20+ cash.

Maybe the floor person was incorrect, and the dealer was correct?

There's a good chance of this being the true, especially if, as is often the case at Borg, the floorperson was merely a dealer filling in as floor for the day. The OP included the dealer's name in his post and he has a solid understanding of the rules.

I've taken the China bus out of NYC numerous times before and never had any trouble boarding. How much is it to AC?
