fwiw I think playing is better than not playing and using the room.
I went down with my brother in law about a month ago. He's not a huge poker pkayer but he does play. I played some pit games with him for a while. I kept it to the minimum because i just know it's negative -EV. I played spanish 21 for a little under two hours at a $15 table amd played the bonus bet every time for between $1-$5. So $16 minimum for 90+ mininutes. The next day i did the same thing. After that trip I started getting Fridays. I'm a 1/2 and sometimes 2/5 player. Only play 2/5 on new tables. Average session is 8-10 hours on a bi weekly basis minimum. I'll also play video poker when i go out to smoke.
That long ass formula gives me a black card and two rooms a week Sun-Fri. Hope it helps.

The 1st day i lost and the 2nd day we actually did well believe it or not. Not the forum for BJ theory but pounding my bet with the winnings and constantly increasing in small increments seemed to do well. Idk off the top of my head. Broke even when it was all said and done more or less.

Absolutely, staying in the hotel counts towards your average, clock in 0 hours in the poker room, pits, and slots, and your offers will probably disappear, or at least your weekends. Just always swipe in your card. The casino knows you are in the hotel if you use comps on anything including parking so might as well get comps as well.

I always say this, if you book 2 nights, and leave on the 2nd night, your average gets hurt as they count it as 3 days, people say no, but I am pretty sure it does, I did that this weekend and will see tomorrow morning if my offers are hurt.

Does anyone know if actually paying for a room has any effect?

I got Memorial Day weekend Friday through a comp for free, Saturday was like $220. I'm assuming I have to play both days but I'm just curious if paying for the room does anything.

The only way it wouldn't count is if the Saturday night was in a separate reservation and it was the rack rate, not a discounted rate due to your status. I.e. your player card wouldn't be attached to it.

I agree with lattimer, the rack rate is likely $399 or $499..so getting it at "half price" is likely to be considered like a comp.

Take one for the team, go down when you have a wed/thursday comped play a TON and once you get 7 days comped then make sure you don't screw around too much and put your time in...$300 to stay at borgata is insane imo for a poker player.

oh definitely a great price. 220 for 2 nights, i'm def not complaining!

the wife even said i can play once the kid goes to sleep and some random other times... so i'll try to get as close to 7 hours at 2/5 as possible each day.

thanks for the info guys.

Whats the most nights you can have booked at once? Not consecutive, but over a 3 month span.

I have 2 per week already booked for the next 3 months. the most you can do is probably just however many you can book per week for 3 months. don't really get your question

i believe the answer is 10 booked comped night reservations at one time. once you use a night you can book another.

oh I guess you're right it does look like 20. I had 18 nights booked (2 per week) then I just went on and booked another one to make 20 and then all my days after that went to discounted rate not free.

confirmed 20

eta confirmed 20 COMPED at once. if we are talking comps I'm sure the answer is 90 or so

Yes 20 is the most you can have, but most people are limited to 10 nights.

totally depends who's around... If I had to quess, o8/stud8/badacey/triple draw and maybe baducy or razzdugi.

You can always call Borgata and ask.

CPA convention will be down there June 10-12. So if you see a bunch of uber-dorks at the tables, you know who we are.

Depends on the firm. If you are Big 4 its a tougher sell. If you are next tier...PM me the firm and I may have a contact that can help. But try checking out these and see if they help at all. I've been going for about 7 or 8 years now.

Went to the Borgata on Saturday after not having been in 2-3 years. For whatever reason, I had weekends comped all that time, but after playing a 14-hour 1/2 session (2pm-4am, left then, didn't have a room booked) I basically have nothing now. C'est la vie. At least I got one weekend booked next month before Saturday.

I know there's no magic formula, but... anyone think I'd have a decent shot at getting even weeknight comps back with another similar session? Was planning on going a few times this summer.
