OK cool, thanks, I'll check again tomorrow. Hopefully I'm getting weekend nights again.

Yeah it was a weird spot at that point. It went from me thinking he was confused and thought it was his order to WTF is going on? I'm still trying to figure out if there was some bigger con that I am missing. Selling phone numbers to spammers can't be that lucrative, right?

I used to get scam calls saying "you qualify for a lower rate on your credit cards" and then they try to get your card numbers. I don't think the calls are related to the weirdo but who knows.

I wish it was me he did that to. I woulda pulled out my phone and started recording him then ask him wtf is he's doing... and I'll then have enough info and video to show security/law enforcement (if it gets to that point).

Maybe he was legit trying to make some kinda prank video, or maybe if he wasn't caught he was gonna call and ask for a credit card number saying it didn't go through. I don't think he can do anything with a players card number, but in another property I used to play in they fired one of the bartenders for scamming people's comps (if the bill was 20, she would charge 40 in comps and pocket the difference).

Don't always go by the calendar on the website, over valentines day weekend it was showing I had to pay like 250 for sat but when I called it was still comped. I would suggest calling to see if your rooms are comped.

Yeah in hindsight, I should have gone to security. I think I'm going to reach out to Borgata security tomorrow and let them know what happened in case they want to go back and look at it. I talked to a friend about it tonight and I'm starting to think it was potentially intended to be a lot more sinister if I didn't spot this guy putting my phone number in his phone.

I get those calls too, but I've never gotten seven of them in four hours or whatever it was - and for that to happen ~12 hours after this went down is really suspect.

Asking for a credit card number is definitely a possible scam, that makes sense. Given that he tried to follow me for a bit, I'm concerned it was related to trying to rob me in the garage or something, but your thought here makes a ton of sense. Especially since I was getting calls from spoofed numbers today. If they managed to call me from a call ID that showed up as the Borgata or Noodles and asked for a credit card number, yikes. That'd be a dangerous scam.

Yeah I played in a property where they fired several waitresses, food runners, and bartenders for a couple scams like that. The poker room gave like $3/hr in comps and there weren't really high end restaurants, so all the regs had hundreds in comps. Alcohol wasn't free, either. So if someone ordered food or alcohol and paid cash, and someone else ordered something and paid in comps, they were pocketing the cash and running it all on the comps from the other player. Most people never checked and noticed, but eventually they ran the scam on a nit or two and got caught.

The bartenders were taking cash for top shelf liquor, pouring top shelf, and ringing up the cheap **** to pocket the difference. A brilliant scam in a casino with a gazillion surveillance cameras!

Oh cool, thanks. I'll keep that in mind if the offers don't show up on the site.

Finally got to play a little live at Borgata, exactly a year since the last time lol.

1. I 100% underestimated how much the masks and the plastic affect sound. It was fine for me in terms of following the action but I legit couldn't hear anyone, people were making friendly table talk and I was just smiling, laughing, and nodding...they didn't seem to mind but I had no clue what they were saying.

2. Jumped on the 1/3 and 2/5 list around 6PM Saturday night with 7 people on the 1/3 list and 4 on the 2/5 I think. Popped back to the room for a quick smoke, my brother who was behind me on the list got the text and I didn't but when we got there I asked what happened and they said there was open seats for both and was seated immediately so all's well that ends well?

Definitely seemed chaotic but I think the whole casino overall is doing okay-ish given the restrictions, wish I was able to start going regularly already lol

Ha the dealer at that casino stole like 40k of jackpot money before getting caught...also had a bartender refuse to pour me a 20 dollar shot and wanted 50 bucks for it...same parent company as Borgata as well

next time you sign up, give them your email instead. I also never get texts from several bravo properties but I do get emails from them (I have verizon, with a strong signal in the poker room).

sorry for the naive question but are live tournaments being restricted by the governor or are the casinos making that decision? Hoping to have some tournaments back in this area by the summer, probably wishful thinking though

When they first opened no table changes were allowed. In tournaments multiple table changes are necessary so I'm guessing that's why they can't happen yet.

They recently started allowing 1 table change per 8 hours so once that gets relaxed further we might start seeing tournaments again.

Just in case anyone else is in the same spot, my room offers started showing up. A few days slower than they would have in years past, but the quality of offer is in line with what I was expecting (all Sun-Thurs, most but not all weekends, all subject to availability of course). I didn't try to book more, but I assume capped at two nights a week as in the past.

I wouldn't think tournaments will return until capacity limits are gone. With limited seats and strong demand, they're not going to tie up multiple tables for a tournament.

Cash games are probably better for the room revenue-wise. And the player pool probably doesn't have a lot of interest in 7-handed tourneys.

How many hours did you put in before you started to see your offers, and what game ?

In my experience, to get Fri/Sat rooms comped, you have to average 15 comp dollars per day that you are officially at the Borgata. So any day that you have a room, swipe your card anywhere (including the garage), etc, counts as a day, and you need to average 15 comp dollars.

It shouldn't matter which game you play to hit that target, as long as you hit it. So if the rates haven't changed, that'd be 10 hours of 1/2 or 7.5 hours of 2/5 or 5/T, etc. I think the OP in the thread has all the comp rates for various games.

I don't know how many days you need to hit that average on, but three was enough for me.

I remain unconvinced of this bit. I've been there numerous times that I played 10+ hours of 1/2nl on a Saturday, and then on Sunday checked out, maybe bought breakfast on comps, used my free parking to leave, all with no ill effect.

The poker room's system isn't really integrated with the wider system, so it doesn't see those things. Its only point of reference for whether or not we're there is swiping into Bravo. If you play more than poker on your card, then yes, maybe the general system is taking note of such things. (Although my inclination would still be to think that things like checking out and leaving the garage wouldn't set off a new day, since you're obviously on your way out.)

You could very well be right. It's been so long that I thought that was the case that I can't remember if I just heard it on here or learned it through experience, and even if it was right several years ago, it could be different now.

I know we're still a ways away from getting rid of the glass but does anyone have any idea when they might be able to get rid of it? What kind of benchmarks we'd need to hit, or if there has been any comment in what would need to happen for it to happen?

Poker with the glass just isn't the same to me and I don't really enjoy. I am wondering if playing without it is even possible at some point this year

Based on state health guidance, and how draconian measures have been in the northeast, I wouldn't expect them to remove the protections until mask wearing is done, so I am in the camp that it won't return to true normal until 2022. Gosh, I hope I am so wrong on this timeline.

You may be right about 2022. Personally, I think the glass is about as effective as face shields, in that it really doesn't do anything. Air can move around surfaces.

Let's hope that it happens as soon as possible, and that they don't go back to 10 handed games when it does happen, lol

I tend to disagree with the thought people wouldn’t be interested in 7 handed tournaments. Look at what the Venetian is doing tourny wise. Easily smashing guarantees and continually raising them each mtt series as more people play.

Will agree about the revenue. Borgata probably has no interest in taking up cash tables for tourny play. Cash games yield a ton of money while tournaments are probably terrible for casinos as they pay wages to dealers, don’t get continuous rake, and block potential cash game space.

I’m also wondering if anyone has thoughts when tournies will be back? I would say maybe late summer or later but who knows. I find it odd the northeast can’t have tournies but Vegas is crushing. Looks like Vegas for 3rd time this year for me in May. Would much rather play at the borgata but tournaments > cash for me.
