If someone makes a bad play, you want them to continue making bad plays. How ANYONE can think otherwise is absolutely beyond me.

My best guess is people's horrific lack of self-awareness + massive ego's. Which pretty much = asshat.
It's actually massive insecurity. Notice how it's rarely the best player at the table talking like that, it's usually the 4th or 5th best. Break even or losing regs who are chronically "running bad", might say they are playing for money but are really looking for validation from the better regs, when they pick on fish they're saying "see guys I'm nothing like THEM."

I see this happen in cases where the person thinks they should be winning based on their play but keeps losing due to "luck". I had a friend who complained to me about this all the time. For example, "I raised and if the person knew what they were doing they would have folded when I went all in. Instead they called and hit their two outer and now I'm felted. WTF?" These types of people can't handle swings and they are complaining when they're on a down swing (as another poster noted). They don't get upset when luck is running in their favor, though.

I agree with you OP: keep one's mouth shut. I want those fish making those terrible, lucky plays. I always compliment those types of plays because I want to encourage bad play, not stop it.

Mark those players and seek them out!

The point of my comment was not to discuss how "good" or "bad" the game is; rather, it was to mention the overwhelming douchebaggery I experienced from this so-called doctor.
OK, I was just wondering why he said it was a bad game. To me a bad game is one that's tough to beat and conversely a good one is a very beatable one. When he said it was the "worst game" I thought he meant it was a difficult one. My priority as a player is to find games where I have an edge. If there happen to be annoying people in the game I put my headphones on.

Maybe the doctor was signaling you out so he can be the second worst player at the table.

One player -- supposedly some doctor asshat -- goes, "Annnd, hook, line and sinker." I hear another player outright refer to me as a fish.

Now, first off, is that situation not relatively standard? Dude slow-plays AA and traps me perfectly. Lucky for him, I had a huge hand where that would work. So good job, villain.

What ticked me off was the commentary. I'm not the best player in the world, but far from a fish. But if I was a fish, why would you make such a comment? That certainly would make me leave, which I strongly considered.

Thoughts?

I don't play 5-10 that often there, but pretty sure I have played 5-10 with the guy you are referring to and he is not very good IMO. Kinda nitty, weak tight, passed on a couple of good value bet spots vs me because he was afraid to get reraised. Fat balding 50's sloppy looking(sound familiar?). Was somewhat condescending I thought too. Made a few comments where I thought "huh". The real pros at the table was friendly and professional whole time as it should be.

Lotta docs are pretty arrogant as you may know. He's probably trying to fit in with better players and picks on the new guy. Just don't worry about it and play your game and stack his fat ass. Better yet bluff the **** out of him all day.

Oh and as an aside, you probably shouldn't get all in without history there post flop on a rainbow board. SPR is like 17! Not enough draws and no one is getting all in there w JJ TT vs your line and probably not QQ so you are way behind usually.

Mostly sets but I guess AA too(I don't like his play either because he loses so much value by not raising pre and starting with SPR of 17 obv. But I see this play a lot recently at Borg w KK AA from supposed pros regs. It's like a new trend now so watch out for it).

I have stacked a few geniuses Deep when I raised 77-TT flopped set and we got like 500 BB in w my set vs their AA KK. And then they are all pissed at me, whatever.

+ 1 to the strategy
I also am amazed at the trappy play with AA @ the Borgata and how pissed they get when it backfires.

Right now playing $1-2 & transferring to another $1-2 table with around $430 in chips.

Been told by both dealer and floor that the rule is I have to take excess of table max off my stack and pocket it.

WTF?

It's like mandating players to go south?

Shouldn't be the case with a table transfer. You can keep more than the table max if they were on the table (won) before the transfer.

I thought if your game broke you could bring it but if you initiated the change you couldn't... But I could be wrong.

No you can't. A transfer u have to buy in for 300 or less
If ur table breaks u can match largest stack at table

Transfer is voluntary and you are looked upon as a new player (have to post, come in with min and max), table break you can come in with whatever you have say $2, but the max is only the stack at the table which I do not like too much.

always been the rule at borgata. table transfer you're a new player. table breaks you can match big stack.

it is a good way to rathole if you want, but i've never noticed it to be a big problem.

My guess is there isn't one, considering that Borgata has their own online poker site.

borgata online poker IS party poker... same network... you can enter through the borgata labeled website or the party poker labeled website... but it's the same thing.

they say you'll be able to deposit at any borgata cashier window soon.

right now you have to do it with credit card on the site. if your credit card won't allow you to deposit, you can first put your money into a borgata prepaid card, and then use that card... also through the site (it'll just take 2 steps instead of one)

For those of you who play cash games, assuming any brick and mortar players remain at Borgata there is a good promotio . Running the next two weeks, play ten hours a week cash games get invited to play in a free-roll, exludes play. On Fridays and saturdays, read the. Fine print.

How many do you think will show up to play on the Tuesday?

Website says it'll pay top 20.

Yes, cash games share the same pool. I am not sure who has more MTT traffic.

Anybody know if there's a weekend poker rate (for March/April not the summer if that matters) and if I need to call ahead? Can I just ask in the poker room the day I'm there and book a room for that rate?
