Anyone expecting to simply move up to 2/5 and never look back will usually have a rude awakening in fairly short order. first person i've ever seen say that. i've heard nothing but how beatable that game is.

Is the Borgata tied in with any Las Vegas casino/hotels?

I have been very unimpressed by CET as of late and had always played in their AC locations to build up my player rating for the occasional trip to Vegas. Lately they haven't been rewarding that loyalty as much as they used to and I would prefer to spend my time in Borgata as it is the best poker room and casino in AC.

I tried to do some research online but didn't really find anything definitive. To be clear I am not a high roller, I am a platinum member of CET and I generate that rating on probably 1-2 Vegas trips and 7-8 AC trips yearly.

As far as I know, Borgata is still 50/50 owned under both MGM International Resorts and Boyd Gaming. The rewards in Borgata is vastly different from the rewards from any of the MGM and Boyd gaming properties in Vegas. As far as I know, both of them have their own comp system: M Life for MGM and B Connected for Boyd.

So much stuff written about how easy the 2-5 game is at Borgata and others implying it's sad that others to have to work at a real job because they don't make enough at 2-5 like They do...

In AC no 2-5 game is "easy" to beat (thanks to rake, tips, bbjp). From the beginning of the "poker boom" circa 2004 there is hardly anybody left from the 2-5 pool. Same from '05, '06, '07 and even '08. If this was so easy, there would be more players remaining than there is. The very good ones stick around for a while but seem to disappear before 3 years. The very very good or great ones have moved up or are still around.

Run-good can last for a long time but not forever. 3 years tops from what I have seen. You last 3 years or 4000 hours plus consider yourself a successful 2-5 player. Otherwise.... if you think the game is sooo easy to beat (and I guess one needs to define "beat")...you could be in for a rude awakening like most everybody else who thought it was at some point.

And if you are one of those people who've stood the test of time... Congrats! Hopefully the players pool doesn't get any better and thinner. But ever year it does.

people move die get jobs have kids etc
the games themselves are easy to beat
its a ****ing grind though
ive said it forever in many other posts but any idiot can play well when running well
a lot of people have zero discipline, game selction, money management and spend money like its on fire, go to the pit like idiots etc

i know most people get free rooms at the borg but thats a a realtively recent thing
in vegas you see players stating at the aria, venitian etc by themselves pissing away 150 bucks a night on rooms, people used to the do the same thing at the borgata

a trained monkey could be fundamentally skilled enough to beat 2/5 nl- its all the external **** that gets in the way for most people to do it for years

Boyd Gaming (NYSE:BYD) effectively owns Borgota since MGM walked away and no buyer as yet has bought the 50% previously owned by MGM that is now held in trust (long story...) but it is not included in the B Connected comp in Vegas. It is kept separate in their books as well.

I mostly play at Borgata, my girlfriend usually plays at CET (slots) in AC, and we get the comps in Vegas from CET.

You will probably not want to stay at a Boyd place in Vegas-I like them but they are a step down in hotel class (Orleans, Gold Coast, Sams Town, ....)

In the mixed games, who sits out a hand when there's not enough cards to deal everybody in?

Most don't do the 2/5 for years. If they are doing it for their living they are bouncing from the 2/5 to 5/10 to 10/25 depending on the best games available. It would be a grind to play for a living. I have the luxury of playing for fun/extra cash. And yes the 2/5 is beatable. I would say the 1/2 is harder to beat than the 2/5. At 2/5 people can fold.

I forgot about that program-cause I never used it.

All this does is let you pay for the room in Vegas using Borgata comp dollars, instead of cash (or comps you earn in vegas).

Liked the Orleans when I stayed there a few times, but haven't stayed there for about ten years. All the trips were in the March time period.

Stan:

Please tell me the rule re: the games that are spread in the 40/80 mix game.

If the game is in progress and someone suggests to either add another game, or, to remove an existing game from the mix, can you please tell me what has to happen for this to occur? Do you need more than 1 player to object or is it based on the majority?

Ex:
8 handed game and I suggest adding badugi but 3 players object. Well obviously, that's not the majority(because it would take 5 players for that obv.) but, it is more than 2. So, what's the rule? And, whatever the rule is, is there a way to make sure it sticks? It seems as though the Floor doesn't want to get involved re: this matter and I really wish they would.

For as long as I can remember its always been: of two players object to adding or removing a game, then it stays the way it is. Now, suddenly I am hearing it's the majority.
I'd be interested in the response to this as well...
