Regarding the kill, Stan has said somewhere in this thread that a player who wins a kill pot may choose to leave the game, and he can't be forced to put the dead blind in the pot.

And I can't resist adding, that if/when the rulebook is ever revised, rule #1 should be: NO SMOKING IN THE BATHROOM.
You could say it's "fair" because the broke player who misses the BB is essentially defined as a "new player" Yes, that player does get some sort of discount compared to a player who just happened to miss both blinds. On the other hand, the player who just went broke did just go broke. *other items about "right/wrong" not mentioned to keep this simple.

I don't really see it as a "fairness" issue. It just a rule that has some thought to it, and it could have gone a different way without it being a big deal. It just needed to be made a particular way so people could follow it consistently. A lot of rules are like that.

FWIW, the rules requests I made weren't really about "what" the rule is - I can tell you what the rule usually is. It was more like a "seems like something that could be written in the rule book."

Can't wait until this smoking thing becomes a non-issue that never gets mentioned here again.

I often smell it in the entire bathroom especially on weekends but it's strongest nearest the stalls because that is where the smokers sneak their smokes.

Kvitlekh.....Would love to see a new rule book clearly state that there is no smoking in the bathroom. The tiny sign when you walk in is definately not working. Great idea!

Borgata Rule Book, Page 13 2C

A player who goes broke and wishes to to re-enter the game shall be treated as a new player with regard to the blinds, once he had missed his big blind.

This would mean that if a player UTG goes broke and wants to re-enter the game, (missing the big blind) he/she will be treaded as a new player and the player shall post the BB or wait for the blinds to come back around.

Mods, can we please start a Borgata bathroom smoking CONTAINMENT thread? The amount of posts that are devoted to this stupid little issue is ridiculous. It has already been said: if the smell of smoke is that offensive to you, go to the bathroom by the music box. I would also like to add that if it was such a legitimate health issue, you probably should not be going to the Borgata at all as you are likely to encounter smoke in many places.

What's up Chris, I assume you are the same Chris from last weekend who wore the WPT hat and helped me get the game started short handed on Sunday

Anyway, I should be down for some PLO action at the Borgata when I come down around Friday/Saturday this weekend.

Understood.

What about the player who goes broke in the BB and misses his SB? Does he owe it? If yes, why wouldn't you make the UTG player who missed both blinds post the SB as well behind button?

This IS the official Borgata poker thread, and since the smoking complaints are about ILLEGAL activities that occur within the domain of the official Borgata poker room, this certainly seems to be the most appropriate forum for the discussion. Telling people to avoid the issue will not help at all. It actually is more useless as a post than the original complaints.

And anyway, do you really think I've never smelled cigarette smoke in that bathroom? I think I've detected smoke in almost every bathroom on the property. The complaints here are only about the poker room bathroom, not the equally malodorous ones throughout the building. There are still a few bathrooms that most people don't know about, in relatively quiet locations, that are still unadulterated. Obviously I must keep the locations a secret, lest the instigators infiltrate those last vestiges of clean air.

The complaints here will magically cease if/whenever management decides to do something about it.

Yea, because once the rule is officially in the rule book, that should do it.

I'm not saying you can't complain about it, I would just like a separate "official borgata thread" to allow you and your brethren to continue your incessant bitching without having to waste everyone else's time. Look, for whatever reason, we know management is aware of this, and they have not eradicated this ILLEGAL activity. There are also plenty of people who possess ILLEGAL drugs in the poker room and who make ILLEGAL sports bets in the poker room and nothing is done about this either. Believe it or not management cannot assure adherence to every single law by every single one of the people in the room. They are not cops. Its a casino. People smoke in places where they should not. If you simply cannot get over this, lucky for you there are 8 or so other poker rooms where you can play.

Because there is a rule specifically excepting this player from being forced to post a dead SB in this situation. If you are looking for a rationale, it seems perfectly obvious to me....the casino doesnt want to discourage people from rebuying. Nor do I think anyone at the table would ever begrudge such a player this courtesy.

Hey Stan

Got a rule question. Why aren't players in a timed game allowed to run it twice??
