Does the $7.50/$15 HORSE game still run? I'm coming down Monday night and staying until Tuesday evening. If not, the $10/$20 Omaha H/L game should be going.

I feel the need to make a rant about Borgata.

Not about the poker room. I love the Borgata poker room. I feel it is run well. Stan, Mabel and most of the poker room staff do their best to make it a good experience. My rant is with the front desk of Borgata and Water Club. Its only August and for the 3rd time this year I have noticed multiple charges to my credit cards for most of my recent stays where either no charge should exist or comp dollars were never applied. I will have a 2 hour plus phone call tommorow with accounting to straighten this out for the 3rd time. The most frequent problem that has occured is that I go to the front desk to check out and tell them I want to use my comp dollars for charges and they always say no problem. Yet on at least 10 stays this year my comps were untouched and the charges appeared on my credit card.

A bigger problem occured recently where I booked a 2nd room for 1 night with friends at the water club. A friend gave his credit card to pay for the 1 night and for hold, and the front desk was told that his credit card was for all charges. The stay was extended for a 2nd night and after taxes each night came to $148. Somehow they charged my credit card for one night and the friend for the other. I dont have this friends phone number as we recently met, so either Borgata fixes it or I have to do a bit of work through friends to get the money back.

The worst of the worst is when you have your rooms comped, either by Mabel or through casino services, you checkin and they say "3 nights complimentary" then after your checkout all 3 nights have been charged to your credit card or amazingly sometimes comp dollars for the full hotel cost of the room.

This all creates a hassle. I am either forced to spend my money when comps should have been used or work with accounting for the long period to fix, which can be a problem if I have used my comps for other things and my balance at the time I talk to accounting doesn't cover, which would not be a problem if they charged my comps the first time as requested and agreed to. Also since this credit card is one I never use for purchases I end up with interest and late fees (I guess its my fault for the late fees for not activley looking at my statements). The part that irks me is that most of the front desk seem like smart enough people but you tell them to do one thing, they say no problem, then do the opposite.

If you stay at Borgata or Water Club, always confirm everything is correct at both checkin and checkout. Always checkout in person. Always get a receipt. ALways check your credit card and comp dollar balance online a couple days after checkout. And my new policy, charge nothing to your room, always use your comp card. If your order room service, tell them to charge your comp card and not your room.

I have had similar instances with this situation. My advice is to never use video checkout, goto the front desk to check out, and always ask for a receipt. Video checkout = Charge any balances from the room to my Credit Card.

Here is a post I made on how to remedy this...

Using comps for room reservations:

(1) When you make the reservation over the phone let the person
know you want to use comp dollars
(2) When you check-in repeat the process.
(3) At about 6am on the day of check-out confirm comps will be used
(4) When you check-out at 11am confirm comps will be used.
(5) At one o'clock day of check-out inquire your comp balance to make sure the $5 was taken out of your comps and fix any errors at that time. Good news is you can resolve this matter rather quickly and you'll be back to the table long before the coffee you requested before you went out to sort this matter out arrives!

Fwiw, the phone call to fix this type of error shouldn't take more than 10 minutes, ever.

That is to bad. I like mixed games but the $40/$80 is a bit steep for me. I'm sure we will get the Omaha H/L game going

I thought the Bravo system was supposed to help this by not giving the walkers credit for the time they are gone. Once when we were down to 5 I asked a dealer why he didn't have them blinking. He said they were told not to (????). They need a 3rd man walking rule. I would have stayed another couple of hours but we got down to 5 again so I left. End of rant.

At one game in atlantic city I used to play at every day it was custom and practice for four to five players to go to Geno's Steaks for lunch on Saturday. It was fun to see the expression of shock in the faces of these prime donnas if they were given as much as one absent button when they came back from their afternoon excursion.

So my question is, would it be ok if I take a short visit to the in-laws in Hong Kong? As it is the in-laws I'd like to make the visit as short as possible and the possibility of receiving an absent button would give me a well-founded and credible reason to make the visit as short as possible, and the Borgata does have more of an international crowd with very specific tastes and habits, so it seems more than reasonable to honor such a humble request...
