I played 10/20 LHE at the main table from 8am to 6pm yesterday. At least 4 times while we had a "full" table we were nonetheless down to 5 or 6 active players - once to 4. Too many players use the game as a base to play the slots, bj, ponies, take long smoke breaks and/or eat. I don't expect people to be chained to the table but some abuse it over and over again. I thought the Bravo system was supposed to help this by not giving the walkers credit for the time they are gone. Once when we were down to 5 I asked a dealer why he didn't have them blinking. He said they were told not to (????). They need a 3rd man walking rule. I would have stayed another couple of hours but we got down to 5 again so I left. End of rant.

I think the fear is that the annoying nit regulars would complain about a 3rd man walking rule and you can't lose them if you want to keep the game going I guess. Then again, 10/20 players really have no where else to go these days. I've suggested it to dealers as well and they usually agree that it would be a great rule to have.

Walkers should absolutely not lose their credit while away in time charge games. Raked games, yes.

3rd man walking rules are awful. Two guys take a break to go to dinner, not wanting to pick up and need to get on a waiting list when they return. Now I can't take a break to pee and/or smoke? Because a couple of nits have a major problem with temporarily playing 6 handed? C'mon.

Just take your nit pants off and learn to enjoy playing shorthanded.

Nit regulars are the ones who clamor for 3MW rules. And any dealer who'd rather deal 10 handed over 6 handed needs to have their head checked.

He was just agreeing that it would help the game. Also, many people don't tip from small pots, so on the whole it probably comes out to being the same.

You get 5 minutes in a 3MW situation, that should be enough time to pee. The guys who leave to eat dinner should put themselves on the dinner list, that's what it's for. OMG they might have to wait a few minutes when they get back to get seated. If there's less people walking around with chips at the table, and more people utilizing the dinner list rule, more seats should open up faster (ie for people coming back on the dinner list).

Borgata should really encourage use of the dnner list more and be more vigilant about picking people up when they are gone for an hour. Having a bunch of absent stacks isnt unfair to the people already in the game, it is unfair to the people on the wait list. The waits for 10/20 and 20/40 can sometimes be very long for exactly this reason.

Yeah, I know I've talked to people who are NOT regulars who get upset/frustrated seeing stacks at the table and no one there for a long time while they are waiting to play. Obviously don't want to discourage them.

From talking to people when I was there (dealers and players) I was told it was the regulars who would complain about a 3MW rule, but I'm not a regular and I certainly could be wrong. It makes sense because they complain about everything.

I think a good example is the following:

Say in the current system you have 3 tables with 10 seats each. 30 seats total. Currently there are probably 6 of those 30 seats that are empty (ie people that should be on the dinner list) at peak times when this is an issue.

If you create a 3MW rule, you end up with say two tables of 9 and one must move of 8 (because on average some people will still stand up and walk around). There should almost never be a waiting list to play 10/20, which is good for the game but also any of those people who come back from the dinner list should get immediately seated which should alleviate concerns about having to wait to get seated in the current system. You can even give players come back from the dinner list the OPTION of moving to the main game if that's where they were before.

Stan, how many runners on average do you usually get for Wednesday's 11AM $120 tourny?

This was my third time at the Borgata this year so I hardly qualify as a reg - maybe a nit but not a reg. I will play shorthanded but others won't - effectively the game just stops at 5 - either that or we just pass the blinds around. Besides I didn't drive 3 1/2 hours to sit and chat with the dealer while I wait for a walker or two to wander back to the game so we can start back up - and even then they won't think of posting. IMO its just not enough of an excuse to say they paid their time - so did I and it is costing me to sit and wait for them to return. What gets me is when the walkers return to a broken table with this look of disbelief on their faces - "what happened to the game.?".

The problem isn't with playing short-handed. I'm happy to play shorthanded when there is no wait list, or to start a new game shorthanded.

The problem is that people who aren't playing are denying the opportunity for other people who want to play by taking up seats that could otherwise be open. This isn't a big deal at a game 2/5 NL where there are so many tables that seats are opening up all the time. But when there is one table of 20/40 open, it is very frustrating to be 2nd on the list for three hours, and to see four absent stacks every time you walk by the table.

Also, usually the problem isn't me, it's other players (regulars) who don't want to play short. Having a 3MW rule keeps the game going.

Saturday was absolutely packed. 991 entries to the tourney was paying >$75k to first! Every table being used for cash or tourney.

Played some 10/20 O8 before seeing Stone Temple Pilots (awesome show). Was a great game, but was looking like it was going to break when I left at 7pm. Was on the list for 10/20 LHE for the longest time, and lost my place on the list because of no or mis-communication between floors and podium. Oh well, worked out well as I made money at O8, but still...

Nits would rather make everyone play 8 or less handed for an hour than have to wait even 5 minutes when they get back. Plus, since they're not "blinking" walkers, they have no incentive to go on the dinner list.

I've noticed the 50/100 HORSE (HOSE) is becoming a regular game, very good to see. How many days a week has it been going.

I may have to make a trip to borg specifically for this game.

It'll run every day if you show up, Loosen.

Thursday-Sunday usually it'll go every day. Mon-Wed we can usually get a 30 or something going.

This isnt really true since absent players still have to pay full time. Being absent for an hour costs $10 at 10/20 (but gains $2 in comps), and cost $14 at 20/40 (but gains $3 in comps).

a joke that player can leave for almost 1.5 hours (leave after dealer change and play 1 hand.) I think that after 30 minutes you should be picked-up. 30 minutes gives you time to grab a quick bite to eat or do whatever. Anymore then that you should pick-up and go on the dinner list. There is no justification for leaving a seat empty for 60-90 minutes.

3MW rule is good idea and would be even better if combined with 30 minute pickup rule.

played friday night. saw charles barkley. not much to report other than a lady that kept crackin me up. she was not social at all, visibly annoyed at anyone that raised her or won a pot off her. but the funny part was every time anyone made a comment about their holdings, and i mean EVERY time, she would say to the dealer in an aggravated tone "he has to have what he says or he's cheating right?!". so two guys would be heads up, and one would bet, and the other would say "can you beat a set?", she would jump in immediately with "he has to have a set or he's cheating! right?!". every dealer ignored her except one who laughed at her and told her obviously the guy wasn't declaring his hand.
