Came directly from the poker manager at MGM National Harbor that he will be going to Borgata in less than 2 weeks to lend his experience with the reopening of the poker room so it's going to be very soon!

Found this on Twitter from the tournament director. They are definitely trying to open ASAP. It could be any day now they make an announcement

It might be 8 including the dealer but 6,7,8 don't matter

I'm curious how fast the rest of a.c. will fall in line with opening poker. I'm not sure how much Borgatas choice will move PA back to poker but it can't hurt.

7 seems like a decent middle ground vs 5 or 6. 30 tables on weekends is going to be a bit tough, as I see a lot of the "regs" from all player pools fighting to get into games early, vs an all day lock out. It's not ideal when you can't start a second or third game and have people wander off but what can ya do.

Unfortunately I've been playing at MDL and Nat'l harbor 7 handrd for a few months theres still lots of nits. They ask to chop in 3 handed games or stand up when the games 5 handed but still a good mix of action players though.

wha? 3 handed games???
at mgm nh, they dont even deal when it's 3handed at 1/3 nl.
bad beat jackpot/high hand promo needs a minimum of 4 players.

probably same with mdl

Yes it's the same but if there are no more players it's either play or break the game and play 1/3 that was for 2/5 the 1/3's there seem to be more full but in a 1/3 next to me last week the guys were complaining when it was five-handed they wanted to stop playing... Borgata will be packed at all times so this shouldn't really happen.

FWIW, any rumors stemming from plexiglass tables in the poker room, those were actually blackjack tables they had set up for a Noir BJ tournament they had last weekend

Unless they used poker tables instead of the normal tall blackjack tables, this current discussion is about something different. The photo is clearly a poker table.

Person above you didn't see the picture. There were BJ tables in there, might still be there, not sure. Vinny also warned us they'd be there and it's not a sign of anything.

Everything being said by poker employees at Borgata is that they're waiting on approval from the state, and it shouldn't be much longer. Johnny Grooms, the poker room manager from MGM NH confirmed that he is coming to the Borgata shortly to advise them on how to reopen and operate going forward.

Obviously when reopening happens depends on the state, but it looks like we'll have poker back at the Borgata sooner rather than later.

What I saw from Johnny was very specific that no timing was set or known. I would contend your “shortly” not supported by known data. Maybe it will be shortly but we don’t know at this time.

I'd love to share everyone's optimism in regards to poker room reopening, but the reality is that the number of cases keeps creeping up and it will get worse

we might even see casinos shut down again before we get poker back. I'd be very surprised if there's any poker in 2020 at all. my guess would be closer to Memorial Day '21

Someone had mentioned that he confirmed in the next two weeks.

I concur with Alpha Fish, though. Closing down the casinos again before poker reopens is probably just as likely as poker opening within the next month. We'll have to see what happens. I'm just excited to be excited about something for a change

Actually some posted he was being temp transferred within two weeks. When he was asked to confirm he said no transfer but was going to help. He was very clear that no time frame existed. The two weeks was politely squashed.

Unfortunately I have to agree with you. We are more likely to see casinos shutting down than poker opening up. I would be shocked to see casinos open for X-mas.

True but he did say he had no idea of an opening date. So if he's going in a couple weeks, it might take another week or so to rehire/train the team, so we're still looking at less than a month. I'll still take that in a heart beat.

They had spikes before, both in the south and in Florida and it didn't last too long.

The latest, from Tab.

I think we can anticipate an opening of the room around early November now. Whether or not it stays open, or if the casinos stay open is really anyone's guess

NJ rules updates, looks good if applied to poker:

All indoor practices and competitions are limited to 25% of the capacity of the room, but not more than 25 or less than 10 persons. However, if the number of individuals who are necessary for practice or competition, such as players, coaches, and referees, exceeds 25, the practice or competition may proceed if no unnecessary individuals such as spectators are present. Even if this exception applies, the number of individuals at the practice or competition cannot exceed 25% of the capacity of the room, and such limit cannot exceed 150 persons.

comment: this should be an easy argument to make
As high risk sports require heavy breathing, and most
1-2 nl players don't even register a pulse...even the
Cocktail waitresses walk by the tables without stopping
To inquire if we want a drink, as they look as though
They are walking past a cemetery.
This is perfect for the poker room
As the capacity is 600+
