Anything owned by the borgata is 1:1 so all the restraints on the casino floor + hotel room/charges. The Starbucks borgata gift store (doesn't make sense to me but apparently it's rented out) and the food court places are 2:1. I might be wrong about 1-2 places but generally I think that's how it was.

Makes sense for them. Someone who is local will give the same action regardless of room comps.

I live in MD and use to go up to the Borg. once every three months and I get comped 2 nights any day of the week and sometime a Fiore suite for just playing 2/5. This is beacuse I live far away and also when I am at the Borg. I tend to put in 20 hrs during my 3 day visit.

I just canceled my Borg. reservation 2 night comped for the labor day weekend due to the grand opening of MDlive which is 26 miles from me vs. 170 miles to the Borg. I don't think I'll up at the Borg. for a long long time.
When Stan posted in this thread, he said that distance from Borgata did not matter.

I think it does. Otherwise, why would "MaxRhino" room comps disappeared as a local and I get 2 nights per week even thou. I only go up once every three months? I still have comp room showing in my calender thur. November if you needed proof. I just have to copy and paste it here if allowed. I also notice my comp room changes on a daily basis.

It's just the further you live, the longer your sessions tend to be, and thats how people get good room offers. And if you're local, you probably have many shorter sessions, which means you wouldn't get as many room offers.

Exactly, if I am staying overnight I tend to play from 7 PM after dinner til the 3AM in the morning and repeat my 6 - 7 hrs session a few more times since I don't go outside the hotel. I do hit the crap table once a while with the 15 min for 20 mins the most just to get away from poker.

The local tend to put in shorter session I guess it's because they have errands to run, kids to take care and meeting the wife's curfew. Therefore, rooms are not being comped as to those who drove hundred of miles and got nowhere to to go or things do in AC except staying at the hotel and play all day. Also, the Borg. got a lot more competition with casinos proliferating every where around the east coast with the latest in Charlestown, WV, and now the grand opening of the new poker room at MDLive in about two weeks. For the Borg. to stay competitive they must offer comp rooms to the out of towner or ended up closing the poker room like the Revel.

I'm pretty local and play short sessions. I still get Sun-Thurs comped. It certainly isn't everything. I also tend to spend consistently on meals when I stay though.

Interesting, some local like you are being comped and local like "MaxRhino" are not. Wonder why?

No idea. I don't play pit games besides 20 bucks at video poker now and then at B Bar. I also tend to visit on the slowest days of the week. Tuesday is always my day off so maybe they like that. Who knows how this stuff works?

Average sessions, not sure if Rhino is putting in too many day trips of only a couple hours a day or if Borgata just gives different offers to different people. I know a lot of people who get 3-4 nights a week playing 2-5 with no other play, if you put in your 9 hours a day for 3 days a week and do it every week they take care of you

I do 4-5 sessions a week for about 3-4 hrs avg at 2/5nl.

When i used to live in dc, id do 7-9 hrs for two or so days per trip. So it's almost definitely me stretching out play over more sessions for shorter times that has affected my comps.

+1

And somebody asked about the comp 2:1, it is very easy. Downstairs is 2:1, all stores are 2:1, starbucks is 2:1 rest is 1:1.

Groupon has a deal fo $179: 1-Night Stay with $100 Dining Credit, Comedy Club Tickets, and Spa Toccare Day Pass. Not too bad for those who aren't comped or reduced.

Even with comps, it's a pretty good deal if you planned on going to dinner anyway. Though I have been there for these groupon deals before and it can lead to some looong lines at check in and getting food.

Does anyone else think Borgata fills the rack just a little bit too often?

If they turned down the frequency about 30% I think the rack would still remain adequately filled while disrupting the game less often.

What do you guys think the impact will be of the new Maryland Live poker room on AC? I'm guessing not much as far as the Jersey/NY/Philly crowd, but it should take some Delaware/central PA right?

Wouldn't people who lived in Maryland have been going to Philadelphia casinos anyway?

+1 not only that, but the floor could use the time much more productively by seating players...don't know how many times I have been standing around waiting and waiting, while the floor is doing numerous fills. Then the floor assigned to the other side, who is idle, and flirting with the cocktail waitress, saids it is not his job...

Nope, The closest poker room for those who currently live in MD is the Hollywood Casino in Charlestown, WV which is also about 50 miles from DC. The grand opening of MDLive poker room next week will definitely reduce the traffic flow to the Borgata for those who live in the DC metro areas.

I really don't understand the thinking. Aren't the floor people capable of observing themselves that the rack doesn't really need a fill?

Making it even more strange is that doing the fill is extra work for them so I would think they'd try to fill as scarcely as possible. Maybe there's some fills-per-hour incentive in their pay? I really don't get it.
