Astonished at the Borgata 25k gtd today. Last to act checks the nuts (quad nines) for a sizeable pot.
He actually says "I don't want to take his money".

I call the floor who in no uncertain terms tells me "we don't have that rule here. Complain to Tab if you like but he'll just tell you the same thing".

So watch out, BPO players - this rule to prevent soft play and collusion is not in operation at the Borgata. What other rules to protect the integrity of the game do they not implement?

Hope for some kind of reply from Borgata officials.

Thanks

People should never say, "My manager, supervisor, tournament director will/will not..." You should have complained to Tab/called his bluff.

Tab would have issued a penalty.

Does anybody have the lowdown on room rates at the Borgata? Looking to come sometime this year, and I've heard that if you come & play JUST POKER for a day, they will give you a couple nights (Non Fri, Sat) free or lower the Fri, Sat price.

If you not counting Fri/Sat, they will have plenty of $79~99/night after the Labor day for anyone.

More or less 8 hours and here is the math:

http://www.theborgata.com/assets/PDF.../Wednesday.pdf

1) Levels will last 20 minutes in length
2) 20 Levels
3) Ten minute break after Levels 6 and 10

20 (levels) X 20 (min per level) = 400 minutes

plus 2 Ten minute break = 20 minutes

400 + 20 = 420 minutes / 60 minutes per hour = 7 hours

Who knows how long would the final table last could be anything.

I was playing next to a guy at Sands who lives in NYC like me. He said he consistently get free rooms even weekends. He says you only have to play a long session (14hr for a day). He believes it's because Borgata is trying to entice more players from NYC. I do get free 2 night Su-Fr from Foxwoods but never anything from Borgata. Has things changed?

Plus anyone recommend a good Chinatown Bus with vouchers to get to Borgata? It costs me close to $90 in tolls, parking and gas for 2way drive there. If I can reduce that "rake", it might be worth taking the bus.

Not a bad idea, assuming the guy has a car. The next town, Galloway, is the same.

I've stayed there a lot. I've gotten rooms in the low $30's before. It seems to have nothing to do with whether it's way in advance or just the day before.

Every one of those motels is terrible, but hey, we just need a bed and a bathroom, right?

If you are not getting rooms from the Borgata, you are the only one. It does not take that much play. Go there and then check the week afterwards and you will see the rooms. If not then check with the ptbs.

What do you guys think the cash games will look like next week during event 1? I'm sure there will be a lot of 1-2/2-5 NL or whatever, I'm more curious about mid/high stakes limit games that don't usually go much during the week.

One long session will for sure get you SU-TH night comp rooms and may get you weekends as well.

For bus - best bet would be to take a bus to a hotel on the boardwalk and then take jitney shuttle bus to Borgata for $ 2.25. Not sure on best/cheepest bus with vouchers from NYC - I'm sure others can provide you with advice.

There are a ton of buses from NY, just search on the internet and I am sure you will find several.

I was doing 85 mph on the Garden State and two of them passed me.

They'll get you there fast or they'll die trying.

If you look back thru this thread (last Sept or Jan '12) you will see what these games were like. One of the items I miss with Stan no longer running the room. He use to post game reports just for this reason.

I wish the new group would do the same. I know you can get an app for your phone but you just can't check history's of the rooms play.

The wait list for both 1/2 & 2/5 will be +45 players even thou they will be using the upstairs (I'm guessing here) for the tourney. Expect a very busy room with over flow hitting all casinos in AC.

I did a search, nothing substantive. Would appreciate a recommendation. Ideally, highly praised with a dealback that almost covers the cost of the fare. I keep decent record of my poker winnings and travel expenses. If this makes a dent, I would definitely start doing Borgata again.

Greyhound and Academy get you $20-$30 back (potentially...nobody gives actual money any more) on a $35-$40 fare. I don't know how low the Chinatown fares go, you might find a lower fare that's closer to the bonus, but with a higher chance of fiery death or unscheduled stranding.

+1 That is so true

And yes Greyhound and Academy are the 2 I know of...and one that takes you directly to Borgata but is more expensive which I forgot the name.

I took a bus from the Cheesequake rest stop for I think 32 bucks? Came with a $25 slot play though.

Greyhound costs between $37-46 and gives $25-30 back. They go direct from Port Authority to various casinos on the boardwalk. All tickets are open return and there is basically a bus back to NYC every hour. Academy is a little cheaper and gives about the same slot play. However, I always take Greyhound anyways because Academy's return buses are much less frequent and often make stops in NJ on the way to Port Authority. There are also no bathrooms on Academy buses. I don't know much about the Chinatown buses. No bus goes directly from NYC to Borgata. You'll have to cab ($13) or take a Jitney ($2.25)

Thanks for the replies. It seems it's the Lucky Streak (owned by Greyhound) bus that does the $38RT with $25 play. They seem to run hourly.

Yelp's Lucky Streak reviews

Can I use the $25 play at Borgata?

It seems like a bit of a hassle. Go to Port Authority. 2.5hr trip to AC. Long wait to redeem card play on card. Take Jitney to Borgata. Do reverse to get home (except card play).

Honestly it's more money for me to drive my truck down after gas and tolls but the convenience of having my vehicle there outweighs the price difference since I can also drive straight to the Borgata and not have to take the jitney.
