Stan,

Are there any poker rooms left for this weekend?

I too am wondering this stan when you get a chance. Is this a go for sure? I'm assuming the first two days are re-entry possibilities and that the 3rd day is when the two fields will combine, correct? Thanks!

So I wanted to use my first post on this forum (been lurking for years) to just say how pleasant of an experience I had in the Borgata. I left the country last year only a few months after turning 21 and I simply haven't been in NJ long enough to get "comfortable" in AC. I love playing poker, but my other experiences at places like Caesars have been disappointing. I hate sitting down at tables and seeing the other players start salivating. I got the feeling at the Borgata that I wasn't just playing with regulars. They also sat me with my friends, which went a long way towards making me comfortable.

I feel that saying an experience was "nice" or "pleasant" isn't a strong glowing term, but in a town like AC a pleasant and relaxed night has been hard to come by for me, especially when playing cards. The card room staff was excellent, too. If I ever do become an AC regular it will be at the Borgata. Also Noodles of the World was dope.

*edit

Also I remember reading about a 3/8 seat issue with chips but none of the dealers I saw in about 8 hours worth of playing gave anyone any grief.

Hi everyone, just had to delete a bunch of bbv-type posts. Please use the Beats, Brags, and Variance forum for bad beat stories. Thank you.

My original thought was to just type "LOL" or +1?, but then I remembered that the forum moderator doesn't like short and to the point answers, so I have to type all of these extra words and add something of value to the post. So here it goes...

The Borgata is the class poker room of AC, and possibly the second best room in the country behind the Venetien in Vegas. I'll be there in about 14 hours. I want to thank Stan specifically for helping with my seemless transition from Harrah's to the Borgata. Looking at a few 12-14 hour days in a row at the 2-5 and 5-10 tables. GLAD to be back where I belong!

At this point is anyone allowed to play the 1/1 game, didn't even get close to running on a saturday night, think I saw 4 or 5 at most on the list, and Sunday and Monday I saw at most 3 on the list.

I think there were only a max of 4 on it on Saturday. I was watching it all afternoon.

I'll put my name on it again on Saturday if I drop by.

The rake, if it ever runs, will probably be the same as all the other raked games: 10% up to $4.

Stan would know if it was BBJ eligible, but presumably it is, unless they have to get separate approval from the CCC.

How often does 1-2 PLO run? I tried it on Saturday as my first time playing PLO, and it seemed fun. I really didn't know what I was doing in the game, though.

Here at the borgata playing 1-2NLHE. Table 5 seat 5 won $2000 at the 10 pm drawing. Most thought it was weird because the last few contest winters have sat at like table 10 seat 10. Same table number and seat number.

Man.... and I was in table 5 seat 10.

In the mean time, still waiting for 1-2 PLO to go. 5 players including me.

Don't think Borgata would be getting much business if that were the case haha. Standard is 10% up to $4 so you are likely right in assuming rake will be standard.

PLO mostly runs on weekends. It is usually full from 8-9PM(not sure, this is the earliest I usually get there so it might start earlier) to 2-3 AM many times(people start busting or a fish leaves and game starts to break) but sometimes lasts much longer like 6-7 AM.

I asked "did I miss something?" because I didn't realize why she was staring at me and she responds in a nasty voice "push it up" while looking at my $5 chip. I moved it closer and she finally tossed the $3 towards me.

I solved the problem by taking a 30 minute break whenever she sits down to deal. She tilts me too much
"Push it up"? I associate that phrase with [name removed]- who I'm actually generally fine with.

Now thats funny and a good question all in one.Maybe i can stake my 7 year old in the 1/1. All joking aside.I think 1/1 is a great idea for people that want to start playing live NL but might be a little intimadated by the ring of 22 year olds with the over sized watch, the Ed Hardy shirt, the head phones, the glasses and saying standard every other word.

This last part is exactly why I believe speaking should be banned from the poker table.

Back home and at work. I tell you with the recent strings of going home broke or leaving with some money from cutting losses, I found it FINALLY refreshing to walk home with a not-too-shabby net-profit last-night and this morning. After staying overnight and investing $120, I walked off the casino floors with a net profit of $112 after combining hours of $1-2 NLHE, $5 and $10 blackjack tables and my mom's favorite slot machine near Wolfgang Puck. Hahah!

While PLO didn't go, I stuck around on table 6 with 1-2 NLHE for three hours and change. The experience was EXCRUCIATING when I would win one modest-sized pot and went through 30-45 minute periods of being card dead, being dealt pathetic offsuited hands, like 9-4, 7-2, J-5, 8-2, etc. This vicious cycle repeated while my chipstack absorbed the wasted big and small blinds.

Then around midnight, my luck turned when the table got a sweet, black female dealer (I forgot her name). Ten minutes in, with $72 in my stack left, she dealt me K-8 and flopped me 8's full! I slow played to perfection where I sucked people's money off the flop, turn and river and doubled-up to over $150.

Since I had a hunch that my “card dead” period would return, I walked-away the same time the dealer did with a $32 net-profit. I don't do it often, but I gave the dealer a hug! :-)

Other Notes:
- The dealers were dealing bad-beat quality boards
9PM Hour:
J-8-9-8-9
Q-8-Q-8-2

Midnight Hour:
A-2-Q-Q-4
(One person made the the straight-flush, while the other didn't have anything since he took too long in deciding after a post-river bet. )

I had a fun time, especially making money back from my meals and gasoline from my earlier business trip. My next visit to the Borgata will be the night Friday, July 30th and I bet for sure PLO will go. Otherwise, I'll probably be doing a 2-5 NLHE half-day marathon since I hope to stay overnight along with my company. Hopefully my fellow 2+2ers will me get the game going!

You hugged the dealer? And for $70 pot?

Sweet lord.

LOL, I know. I know. But I've been in such a slump in my recent sessions. Anything to get back on track mentally. That's why I'm dying to get into PLO. More hand choices and more action.

And she was cute, too!
