I was wondering more if there is a finite time limit, or for instance, if the BB had led out can my hand be mucked if I do not act quickly enough? Does the dealer have to say, "Seat _, it's your turn to act?"

I also thought it was weird that the dealer did not say anything both times I mentioned I did not check, if I was clearly in the wrong shouldn't the dealer be telling me why I auto-checked?
I would say that it's the dealer's responsibility to run the game and in this case the dealer essentially allowed the action to pass you without getting (from what I can gather) any sort of response from you. That responsibility included prompting for action and other attempts to get intention before mucking. It has happened though where I'm just sitting there and somehow the action skips me - typically when I'm first to act in SB.

The dealer may have ignored you to cover up the mistake. Either that or everyone was frustrated by your momentary obliviousness.

Like you said, not a big deal. And don't be THAT guy again. "I'm in a hand" should be always ready to use.

Just curious, and don't know if it has been asked before, but is there a possibility that the Borg would spread a PLO8 game? Or maybe a Mixed LO8/PLO8 game?

The PLO game will sometimes mix in a little PLO8 during the really late hours. Played some this past weekend, in fact.

However, we've been told by Shift Manager Steve that the game is actually not allowed to be spread.

Would love to get some clarification on this. If PLO8 is a CCC no-no, then wouldn't want to get anyone in trouble.

Even if allowed, a PLO8 (or mix) game is only going to run if you bring 6 of your friends, sit down at a table and ask for it. I bet they don't even have an entry in the system now to create a List of Interest for it.

Prob too much of a headache... trying to get a dealer to 1/4 a pot two ways, with a side pot, etc. In limit o8 tournies, it's a pain even then.

By the end of the week. I will say that they will be very similar to what we have done in the past.

you should never be "auto-checked" because checking is an option. same as calling or raising. they would never auto-call or auto-raise for you. i can assure you that isn't what happened. either they thought you checked, didnt know you had cards, or the players after you just acted out of turn. either way, with 3 people acting after you, there's too much significant action to go back.

ive done with you did, just never for 30 seconds straight without paying attention. maybe for 5 seconds or so, but i always get someone tapping me or telling me it's my turn so i cant imagine they just went through you.

like you said though, you were leaving soon, so it was probably right not to make a big stink about it, but i can assure you this wasnt a normal thing.

Had a great time at the Borg playing SNGs last week. I am coming back on the 26th-28th. I know that is the weekend before the Spring Open so all tournies are normal or is that weekend used for setting up in some way?

Stan, you and your team run a great room. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me if Borgata offers a poker rate on the weekend and what the rate and requirements are to attain it? I am going to be spending more weekend time in AC after only going down on the weekdays for the last 2.5 years. Just wanted to know if anyone can fill me in and I'm sorry but I am too lazy to search such a huge thread.

Hey Stan,

I was playing yesterday and two hands in a row I called a bet on the river in a HU pot, my opponent showed, I conceded, and he asked to see my hand.

The first time I just rolled my eyes and didn't say anything. The second time a floor man was there doing a fill and so I said "Wait, is he allowed to do this every time? I thought the rule was written such that it couldn't be used in every hand?". I argued a bit with the floor (not that seriously) and he said he'd bring me the rule book so I let it drop.

Sure enough, he was right and the Borgata rule is just that any player dealt a hand can ask to see a hand at showdown - with no caveat about collusion or abuse. There was a note in the poker etiquette section saying it was bad form, but nothing else.

My question is that, if a player were to ask to see every hand at showdown in every pot, would the floor eventually rule against this or would it be allowed?

Personally, it doesn't really bother me because I feel like I balance my hands enough that the "Information" other low limit players gets seeing my hand at showdown isn't that valuable to them. It just seemed like a bit of a strange rule.

If something like this ever comes up again...a sure fire way to stop this shenanigans is to wait until you have the best hand but act as if he has the best hand, and of course you'll act as if you're going to fold (like you would normally do, like in your above examples etc.) and as soon as he says, "I want to see his hand", you'll table it, and at the same time of tabling it, you can make pretend like you're annoyed that he is "embarrassing" you, and then you'll say, "Wait! I didn't see it! I have you beat and thank you so much (emphasis on "Thank you") for telling me to show my hand. Whew, I don't think I would've seen it had you not prompted me, so thanks again, buddy!"..

As long as everything was equal action at the river, if the *winner* of a hand (or the potential winner of a hand) asks to see your hand and you wind up having him beat, then you'll take the pot.

Although I've personally never done it...I can see someone doing it once (an amateur perhaps) because hey, maybe you really play your hands in a way that make you difficult to get a read on...maybe you were winning more than your fair share of uncontested pots. Those are the exact reasons why players ask to see hands. But, doing it over and over? No, that is just being a prick.

Anyone asking to see a mucked hand at showdown is ignorant of proper poker etiquette, unless cheating is suspected. Anyone who says, "But I want to get the free information" overestimates their abilities to use that "information."

You could ask the person who wants to see a mucked hand at showdown who they respect the most in poker. And, when they tell you who it is, you can ask, "Have you ever seen Ivey, Antonius, Dwan, Negreanu, etc. ever ask to see a mucked hand at showdown?"

I'm curious to hear Stan's opinion of this with regard to the way that things should happen at Borgata.
