Re: The question of the day thread

What time of day do you think is reasonable to begin disruptive yardwork (think chainsaws) on your own property in a subdivision?

Is the time different for weekdays vs. Weekends?

For me (as the disruptor), reasonable is late, like 11 am.
For me as the disrupted, I can live with 8 am, but i don't like it.
Weekends seem to start earlier, when they should, in fact, start later.

Are you about to do some aggressive earthwork, or are you about to have words with the knucklehead that's been running his leaf blower since 6?

Some HOAs have covenants regrading nuisance noises, as do many municipalities.

Re: The question of the day thread

I passive-aggressived all over my disruptive neighbour by walking out in my pajamas and robe and saying good morning. He stopped his racket and went back inside.

I try to abide by the construction ordinances for cities. 7am - 7pm weekdays, 9am - 7pm weekends.

Ish anyways, can't have construction related noise before/ after those hours.

Re: The question of the day thread

Idk if this is dumb, but it annoys me less if it is a professional...idk arborist OS... who is making the noise. They're just getting their job done. A neighbour --especially one who is constantly bitching about other people's loud vehicles, firepits, etc. -- doing this just lifetilts me.

Re: The question of the day thread

I think 9am to 7pm seems fair. Maybe 7pm is a little early, but I guess kids go to bed around that time..?

Re: The question of the day thread

I love doing really early starts when working in high-end neighborhoods. There's nothing like the sound of a 2 stroke gas cutoff saw at 6:00 AM, although any heavy equipment with a backup beeper is fine in a pinch.

Re: The question of the day thread

In my old life I use to have a reverse beeper on my ute. Neighbors weren't happy when I use to leave at 3am (it didn't have an off switch) and had forgotten to reverse into my driveway.

Re: The question of the day thread

Why would you have a backup beeper on a ute?

And no, that is not the QOTD. This is a Very Serious Issue that needs to be addressed so to hell with thread rules.

Specific site rules. Any vehicle on site needed to have a reverse beeper that couldn't be turned off.

Serious question (not QotD):. What does the sign by car 2 mean?
Looks like a warning. Are there Panzer tanks in the area? Ze Germans!

Re: The question of the day thread

I think it says, "Warning: Hypothetical Traffic Pattern Is Ludicrous And Will Never Occur In The Real World". That's a bit wordy for a street sign so the print is small and from a distance may resemble WWII armored vehicles.
