There was, probably several points. It was heated and Bruce made some bad posts.

When Bruce did start seeing the error of his ways he sought to move things to an end. That include Bruce offering to shut up even while the other mods were free to keep on having a go at him. Budging less than an inch from the other side would most likely have brought a much better outcome for Bruce and 2+2 but it now seems clear wookie at least had no interest whatsoever in finding a reasonable way forward - I had assumed it was just a continuation of things that had got out of hand but now wookie has made clear it was what he wanted.
