List were long in the early afternoon but tables were quickly opened as tournament tables busted. There were 5 1/3nl games which is more than I have ever seen and PLO was running. By 7pm it slowed down a quite a bit with open seats around and not much lists and then by 8pm it was busy again.

Back when they had buttons, a red chip would do it every time.

Why should it be a different depending on whether it was the main event or not? A tournament is a tournament. Maybe for some people who can't afford the ME, this was their only shot. Why treat them differently?

Look, it's not the end if the world. There are bigger issues in the world. But I just disagree that this was ok for any reason. You (HR) should either do something correctly or just skip it until you learn how the hell to do it correctly. (Although I guess if they took that advice..... )

What is the unfairness/downside to allowing an alternate buying in versus the original player who busted? Or of the cap size increasing? Is it just that it potentially makes the tournament last a lot longer than originally planned, or does it have something to do with stack sizes, etc?

Just wondering. Thanks.
If they hadn't change the rule, after 2 hours the tournament would have been down to 192 players (158 eliminated who didn't re-enter). Instead, there were 458 players seated at the end of 2 hours to play through. Makes a huge difference in the value of your stack at the end of the two hours. It made the tournament like an uncapped rebuy tournament rather than a capped re-entry tournament. Plays much different.

2+2’ers – First, thanks for the tremendous support shown for Event #1 of the WPT Winter Poker Open Regional Series. We had 459 runners with a prize pool of $80,325. Congratulations to local player Natasha Barbour, winning the tournament with an announced first place prize of $20,451 and a $2,250 seat into the Winter Poker Open main event! We opened it up to alternates after recognizing the large number of people that were not able to get in. Having learned, we will continue this process for all events, with the exception of the main event (#7). As of this moment, there are 122 tickets sold for today’s $690 + $60 No Limit Hold’em DEEP STACK tourney, starting at 11am. This is a two-day event, starting with 20,000 in chips and an optional dealer add-on for $20 getting you 5,000 in chips. As for changing the structure of the main event, the only change we are able to make this close to the event is that we will stop play on both Day 1’s after Level 15, finishing around 11pm. Adding the one missing level or changing the levels to 60 minutes will not allow this event to end on Day 2, and that is a goal we must keep, based on approved rules and more importantly, for those that have already bought tickets with that understanding. We have listened to your comments and have been in discussion with Matt Savage and WPT and will make the appropriate changes in our next main event, coming this spring! Just announced – all entrants into the main event (#7) will get a $25 Free Play voucher for you to use on your favorite slot machine! Don’t forget, you are already earning 2X Bravo Rewards all month long for live action and check out the 12 Days of High Hands, starting December 12th at 12 noon, giving away $1,200 every hour for 12 hours for the high hand each hour. WOW, that’s a lot of 12’s! See the posted rules for details. Thanks again and make sure to say “hi” to us (Henry and Russ) at each of the events. Also, we want to take a quick second to thank the entire Poker/Casino Team for the awesome job with Event #1. Their dedication and teamwork is greatly appreciated!

I'm glad Natasha beat me for the seat HU, she will look a LOT better on promotional material than I would :P.

Jack it was a pretty good tournament. I know you had computer trouble but the criticism I have is that the floor managers need to be a little more on the ball about announcing the blind changes. I would think that because of the computer problems you would have taken care of that a bit better.

The dealers were all excellent yesterday.

And quite honestly.... I didn't mind adding more entrants to the pool... probably because I pocketed that money...

Congrats to Natasha and PokerZombie for their 1 – 2 finish in yesterday’s tournament! Thanks for the kind words about our awesome dealers. Plus, our computer issues are fixed and we are glad we could get more tournament clock screens out there for everyone. Today’s $690 + $60 Deep Stack tourney has over 240 runners! ~ Jack of Rock

Actually Ron i ran really really bad yesterday. In one two hour period I had the following hands against the same person:

AK vs KK (called his 3bet pre, check fold flop he showed)
AK vs KK (called his 3bet pre, check fold flop he showed)
TT vs KK (I folded the turn on a 9652 board he showed)
KQ vs TT (set vs top pair he showed it)

If it hadn't been for that super sick A8 hand I told you about I wouldn't have made it through those two hours even though I lost the minimum each time, and unfortunately those hands tilted me enough to lose 1/3 my stack in a trivial fold spot where i had JJ against someone who obv had AA but I just went ZOMG A PAIR SHIP.
I had AA 0 times, KK once and it was a walk, and only AK twice (see above).

I only 'ran good' in spots where I was all in with the best hand and it held. Does that count?

It was the same guy who was a... lets call him a casual player. I went from 150k stack when avg was 30 to 50 in those two hours. It hurt.

I try to create a 'fun' game when I have these types at the table with a lot of joking and table talk so they will show me when I ask/ it's easier to get reads on people when youv'e been conversing.

It works more often than you would think. Not much on the nitty old men, but the sociable casual players.

I don't think I saw PLO today, Sundays are kind of slow sometimes.
Last night they had 2/5PLO which is rare.

I should be by tomorrow for some cash (maybe 2/5), and to buy my tickets for wednesday and thursday.
Feel free to say howdy, snowman/brown jacket.

Are there pictures of Natasha everywhere yet? I expect them to plug her (being an attractive woman whose picture they don't have to pay for) pretty hard in the next few weeks before the popularity dies down.
