It's a choice encore made. It's nothing else.

Initially was straight incompetence. Like every "high end" casino opened since Caesars opened in LV in the 1960s, management thought that by attracting high rollers only they could make the casino profitable. Like every other time, they figured out eventually that casinos are a volume business in order to meet the monthly nut. The holloi polloi were supposed to come by bus if they even dared to enter the property. Therefore, they didn't need a lot of parking.

Since nobody going into a casino thinks they are "the masses," everyone coming in was filling the parking lot. Poker players are the bottom of the masses in terms of value to the casino. They would gladly get rid of the poker room at this point, except that their license depends on having a poker room. At night and on weekends, there isn't enough parking for everyone to park in the garage. Therefore, they discourage poker players from coming in on prime hours so their more profitable clients can park.

Neither. By design. They are intentional holding back poker. That is obvious. The question is why are they doing this.

Does their license actually depend on providing poker? Not saying it doesn’t but I have heard this said but never seen any support. Definitely agree the don’t want poker players there in prime hours.

I’ve also heard to remain a 4 star resort casino they need to offer poker. Not sure if that’s true either lol

looked up chasers and billiards club, not about driving through heart of boston traffic all the way up there for a quick session

It's a little ambiguous legally I think. The Gaming Commission believes they should have poker, but EBH says they are allowed to "offer varying table games that may differ based on popularity" based on their contract with MGC, and "they value maximizing revenue so Mass receives the maximum tax returns from EBH" (typical PR spin). The gaming commission kinda strong-armed them into opening Poker at ALL this year in my opinion. EBH doing everything possible to minimize the impact while also getting the MGC off their back.

March was their highest month to date overall and their biggest slot win. That’s probably why they are doing it.

Longshot but anyone been able to get their compdollars restored or transferred from before the pandemic?

I haven't been back since March 2020 things shut down and had a decent amount of credits built up.

Yes, simply go to regular Red Card customer service and explain your situation and it will take 2 days or so but they will come through.

With a $10 rake, I don't care what their hours are, or how many tables they run.....

With a $10 rake I wish they ran zero tables.

Encore seems to be operating on the PT Barnum approach to running a poker room. The fact that they can get games going makes me think Barnum's maxim was right.

mgm springfield is 10% 6+2 for 1/2 & 2/5 and time rake for anything higher

I’ve been 4 times in the last month and each time the games are better than the previous. High rake means no nits at the table. The games are blowing away Mohegan and Foxwoods but the hours, or lack of hours, suck.

What stakes are you playing ?

if we are lucky we will have a few more tables and a second shift with late night hours at least Monday. thats the next likely step.
