Actually, higher rake means it pays to be nittier. VPIP% should be way lower when the rake is higher.

Now, in reality, it probably means that good "pros/regs" decided to not come and play because it is harder to beat as a rake, leaving more fish at the tables.

Everything you said makes sense. The reality is these games blow away the other casinos. Tons of action and tons of horrific players. It's a goldmine if you play well.

What makes a game great in your opinion?

Going for the first time since re-opening on Memorial Day - should I get there a little earlier to ensure a spot? Is 8:30am too early? I have no idea what the lines are like (if they exist) anymore for the 10am start.

Lately, you can get there right at 10 and there won't be an issue if you just want to play 2/5 or 1/3. I believe for PLO that's fine too most days. For 5/10 you will want to be there at 9:15 though at the latest to ensure a seat.

That's on a normal weekday though. I have no idea what the increased demand on memorial day will be like. You might want to get here before 9 for that if you want to be safe.

I have not been there since Dec 2019, but I can imagine insane demand on memorial day. I'd go there super early if I were you. All the folks who can only play weekends will finally get a day off to play...

Don’t laugh. They could very easily consider a holiday Monday as a weekend for poker purposes. I’d call ahead if I were you.

A table not littered with pros but full of recreational players who are there to see flops and are calling stations.

Interesting topic, namely what makes a cash game great. While I don't disagree with what Rhody said, games like that are agonizingly slow at times, with so few hands an hour. In those cases I definitely don't play my best. I prefer a table with 2-4 maniacs, 2-4 people so scared of said maniacs that they become de facto OMCs, and me, with at least enough buy ins to handle the possible swings.

MGC questioned EBH on the poker room again yesterday on their call. See the 1:09 hour mark on this video link below. I continue to email the MGC on this issue and they are at least putting a little pressure on EBH about it. Keep complaining guys (and gals)!

I couldn't agree more. Good on MGC for grilling them, and for us to continue to pester them to do so. Do I think it'll move the needle? Sadly no. And at least EBH didn't shy away from admitting that parking is the but for.

Keep on contacting the MGC and asking them to open the poker room more hours. I would also mention the fact they are taking advantage of their monopoly and gouging on the rake. It will work in the end. The MGC has slowly been losing patience with encore management from the very start. Wynn management has a very cavalier attitude towards the MGC about a number of issues. You could tell in the man's voice when he told the wynn woman it wasn't just about revenue but also jobs that he is losing patience with her. They delayed the installation of keno at the casino for months when they first opened and had no good excuses for the delay. Needless to say the Mass lottery hasn't been too happy with them and the MGC has heard from them mass lottery. Eventually I would expect the poker room to be open about the same hours as mgm springfield with the same rake as mgm. Eventually, may be a few years away but we'll get there.

Yes, EBH rep confirmed two additional tables next week. But that really isn't the problem if they don't change the days/hours.

All the talk at the room yesterday was expanded hours Sunday-Thursday 10am-2am ish mid July

Obviously not official but the right people are saying it. Seems like things are moving in the right direction and our voices are being listened too.

I just wrote them for the first time, as it does seem to move the needle and despite the fact I'd be unlikely to play there much, if at all. It's the principle and all of us as New England poker players should continue to voice our displeasure for the sake of those who want and deserve a return the poker room that was touted as part of the process of EBH getting its license.

Room was open busyish but not packed. 2 more tables added today.

Seems like room is starting to empty out a bit as the night goes on so you get some short tables and I’m generally you aren’t waiting as long for a seat if you aren’t there on time.
