July 19th Sunday-Thursday 10am-2am will be the next set of hours.

Room was open busyish but not packed. 2 more tables added today.

Seems like room is starting to empty out a bit as the night goes on so you get some short tables and I’m generally you aren’t waiting as long for a seat if you aren’t there on time.

Well that's a step in the right direction. Another 7 weeks before it happens. Too bad no changes on Rake or Friday/Saturday but maybe eventually.....

Ya that is more "wishful-thinking". I expect the rake will remain brutal for the foreseeable future and it might even creep into other cardrooms. Bummer.

The rake situation really bites, but with the expanded hours I might just bite the bullet and start playing the 2/5 regularly after work.

I’ve mostly been driving to New Hampshire to play the 1/3 500 cap at Boston Billiards but that rake is 5+3 as well. I have to imagine that even with the 2bb capped rake at 2/5 that it will be a wash and even save me money between the wear and tear on the car and 30 extra miles both ways in fuel cost.

Sucks this is what it has come to for such a big poker market.

I play chasers a lot but even at 5+2 a lot of what I’m saying about fuel cost/wear and tear I think holds true.

When I’m in the area I’m in the same situation I just play 2/5 encore the rake is worse but the extra drive to NH in gas just makes them even. Need twin river back desperately

Yeah I’m with you. As terrible as the room is it’s a better drive and the rake is $5 flat. Not asking for much here lol.

Unfortunately according to the Poker in RI Facebook it doesn’t seem like they’re anywhere close to getting their **** together.

Dealer just told me they have July 18th as a loose target date for the expanded 10am-2am hours, with the poker room also operating on Sunday as well

No they sensibly used that useless empty space in front of the cage. They could even fit 3 more there

Don’t know where else to ask: does anyone know what happened to the South Shore license the state originally planned to award? Is that still held up by Native American land disputes?

No that isn't the holdup really. The State hasn't found a reason to pursue it due to demand. There are plenty of casinos in MA/RI/NH/CT and the market is flooded already.

Not that I’ve seen on a social media platform. They did say it in a meeting with MGC but left caveat opening that it depended on staffing

It’s happening. All the dealers, floors etc have confirmed. Have you been in the room at all? People talk about it every time I’m there. Dealers even speak about which shifts they are taking

I have not been in the room at all since 2020, due to the aforementioned hours and unable to get there after work+wait lists and play for reasonable amount of time.

Went there for first time today and asked floor, who confirmed SUN-THU 10am-2am starting in couple of weeks. He also mentioned that the website had updated for it, but I had really only looked at social media for updates

No problem. We will see. Over time the list got more manageable with the old hours and I think with the extended hours it'll be okay but who knows as we still have only 15 tables.

I will say, Poker Atlas allows you to sign up 90 minutes ahead of time for all games which helps a ton. I don't think and hope that will change.
