If someone lives in Boston and doesn't own a car, they don't have much of a choice - the "rake" they'd have to pay in order to rent a car/take a bus/Uber to NH/FW/MS is far higher than playing at EBH

You guys are forgetting everyone who lives close who can register on the app, then leave their house if and when they make it to the top 20. Encore is in a very densely populated area, with an abundance of poker players both good and horrific. It's not like having to set time aside to go to NH or CT. I know dozens of people who jump on the list as plan B C or D for the day without setting foot in the casino.

I was at Encore yesterday. Wife likes to play slots and Encore is closest to me. I signed up for pokerlist about 12:30 PM. from home. Arrived about 1:30, checked in and was called at 3:45. Didn't play as wife said we'd be leaving within the hour. ( she was losing.......again).

So, if you choose to wait several hours I guess you can play there. By the way, I rec'd a questioneer from Encore about my experience and I told them that we now go to Mohegan/Foxwoods/MGM more often due to the poker situation at Encore. Not sure it will help, but...

While this is true, depending on where you live you still need to make it to EBH in 60 minutes so that you are not removed from the list. But then I checked just now to verify that it was 60 mins and it now says 90 (45 on the list for 1/3 at 11:45am, but 7 tables are going). I could have sworn it was previously 60... does anyone know when this changed?

4:30pm update. Maybe people are getting the hint? Only 7 on the 5/10 list (1 table) and 7 on the 2/2 PLO list (2 tables).

29 on the 1/3 list which is low for this time of day typically. But only FIVE of them are actually checked in person.

More likely they are going broke from getting raped errr I mean raked $10 per pot...

For the ones that have yet to go busto their demise will be assured soon when they implement $10+$2 which is coming in the next 30-60 days... (from a reasonably reliable employee source)

Say it with me: "$10+$2+$1 tip= WHAAAAAAAAT?"

Typically seems to be a drop off when Lent begins. Not sure why and not saying there is a relationship. Of course it makes more sense here in LA but really Mardi Gras and esp Fat Tuesday don’t seem to drive poker or casino traffic. Might be diff in NOLA.

Or could just be the fad is wearing off and rake bleeding them dry.

Call me a dick but I'm not tipping anything whatsoever. They're taking over $100 extra off the table every hour and not giving an extra $50 or even $20 of that to the dealer? They're still expecting me to pay their employees? **** that

I don't want to run afoul of the rules here, but I don't see what punishing the dealers for the company's lousy decisions accomplishes. If your favorite restaurant jacks up menu prices by 20% do you stiff the server?

Yea right now you can "try" to justify it by saying you are getting $2 worth of value (BB and HH) for free.....kinda like $8+1+1 now. I played there 2 times but I won't be back. I can't imagine $10+1+1+tip.....goddamn robbery.

Last I was there this past fall I believe it was a straight 10% up to $5. Don't remember if there's a promo drop.

Yea I believe it’s the same as Bellagio and Aria. 10% up to $5 no flop no drop.

It's nice having a monopoly. You don't have to be competitive.

It's a straight 10% up to $5 max at 1/3 NL. At 2/5 NL the rake is better than straight 10%. The casinos don't take the 5th dollar until the pot reaches 120 at Aria and 100 at Bellagio/Wynn. If I remember correctly:

Aria: 1 at 10, 30, 50, 80, 120
Bellagio: 1 at 10, 30, 50, 70, 100
Wynn: I believe the same as Bellagio

None of the above rooms take a promo drop.

It isn’t that bad if you look at the high rake as a distraction from high gas prices.

IMO $10 rake is beatable in $2/$5 1K max and $5/$10 $1,500 max, but yes it is unreasonable to expect a player to be winning at any decent rate in $1/$3. I'm used to playing $6+$2 $2/$5 1k max, so higher rake isn't really new to me.

Punishing the dealers who are completely out of control by this upper management decision by not toking to compensate however, seems to be a bit out of line in the US where we all know they rely on us for their bottom line. Arguing for/against tips in general however is a completely different topic in which a full-blown debate can be started, and I'm not really looking to open that can of worms.

That being said, I'm visiting from Michigan/Las Vegas and will be playing the $5/$10 tomorrow. The limited tables/hours does suck though, likely is discouraging a lot of funplayers looking to play after their 9-5...very likely that $2/$5 and $5/$10 will start off with a high concentration of regs as a result.

You are not merely paying dealer employees. You are also paying for millions of dollars in severence packages per casino executive, who are devoid of conscience when it comes to not hiring or not paying employees. Obviously, you have established your own personal limits. That's OK. Corporate greed as exists today, has reached new immoral heights.

The record high gas prices play right into the Encore's hands.

Yes they are. For a brief second I almost considered signing up for the list today because there’s no way I’m spending $20 in gas just to play 1/2 in New Hampshire which is better rake (although still high.)

I opted to play 4 tables of 25NL online instead lol.
