What kind of stuff are you looking to learn? Do you mean like when they have a craps table set up where they just explain the game to people and how everything works? Idk of anyone doing that for poker but if you are super nervous before hand maybe just watch a table for a few mins before you sit down to get a feel for how everything works?

ask to play 2-4 texas style limit hold 'em, the dealer will let you know when it is your turn to act, and the other players at the table will be happy to help you as well...

Stan,

So sorry to see you go. Ever since I found out about this thread, I knew Borgata would get my first casino business. You've been such a great asset to the poker room and to the players, especially the 2+2ers who play there. (The Event That Shall Not Be Named was great) I can't imagine the number of people you helped out, including myself, regarding rooms before the comp changes and I'll never forget how you responded when I said, in another casino's thread, that I paid for parking at Borgata. I played almost every weekend at Borgata for 2 years for the great games, atmosphere, and customer service. Have only been to AC once in last 6+ months, for a friend's birthday, and still made sure to play a few hours at the poker room the following morning. The Borgata really is the place to be for East Coast poker. I'm sure the Isle will be up there soon enough. Hope to drop in before you go, but if not, hope to cross paths again in Florida. Go Blue!

Alan

I have a few questions about Event 5, the modified shoot out. I've never played a shoot out before so forgive me for my ignorance.

#1. I'm pretty sure I know this one, but a shoot out is basically a group of one table sit and gos where the winners advance to the next round, correct?

#2. How many people from each table advance?

#3. Do you take your chip count from round to round, or does everyone who reaches round 2 start with the same amount? (meaningless question if only one person per table advances.)

#4. Are all rounds the same format or does round 2 (or 3, or 4) turn into a regular freeze out?

1/2 PLO gets off fairly frequently at the B. Always on weekends and most weekdays in my experience. Occasionally 2/5 PLO will get off too.

This is a modified shootout, so rules little different. On the first day there are three flights of single table SNG. The top three this time on every single table advance to an MTT tourney the second day where everyone starts with same amount of chips, and conducted like MTT, not SNG. If you dont come top three in first flight you can play another flight(s) to try and qualify.
This was a good time last series, and they only advanced two players per table, so I think three advancing will make better for many reasons.
I hope that helps, Ill be there..!!

Thanks for explaining Bob. I am not familiar with how this works either but was curious when I saw it on the schedule. What does three flights mean?

Even though I asked the original question, this is one I can answer.

If you enter the first flight and don't qualify, you can enter in one of the other ones. It's like a tournament with 2 different starting days.

And thanks eebob for the original reply.

Just a reminder/heads up to those who stay in the Water Club. Always check your bank statement a few days after you leave. I just saw a $28 charge on my account from my stay this past week. They claim it is a minibar charge even though I never opened the fridge. Have to wait a few days for accounting to contact me once they check their restocking records and then a few more days for the money to be refunded.

Moral of the story: Don't so much as looks at those fridges the wrong way.

I think it needs to be lifted for 30 seconds, but I never even opened it. It's just very sensitive I guess. I won't actually be upset unless I don't get the money back.

I heard yesterday that Borgata has changed the hourly comp amount for 1/2 to $2/hr. Is this true? If so, what's the amount for 2/5?

They changed 1/2 from $1 to $1.50 some time ago, raising it to $2 will make no sense since $5/10 players get $2 as well.

The guy who won the twitter contest for free entry into the Spring Open allegedly cheated to do it.

This guy https://twitter.com/ClaytonCrotty figured it out somehow. Read through his feed for more info.

Pathetic for someone to cheat a fun little contest like this.

Here's an evidence pic he posted

The pic actually came from Dusty Salison. He and @littleladyluck on twitter have been the catalysts behind alot of it. However, we've all made several attempts to get in touch with someone from the poker room/promotions/main casino/mgmt etc... And to no avail. It's as though it was rigged. I don't want their free seat, I just want them to right their wrongs. I'll be playing anyhow and posting a personal $100 bounty on this dude. Haha. I tried to tell him how low it was to cheat by creating several accts and he mocked me. It's all on my twitter @ClaytonCrotty. He wasn't even smart enough to change "RC" or his tweets. Anyhow, I expect nothing to come out of this since we are all being ignored but wanted ppl to know. Thanks for posting rhino. Kinda hard to believe this is coming from such a reputable venue like borgata.

Bybthe way, you can all see @borgatapoker that @floptrips won the seat. Clearly cheated. Then, when put on blast on twitter by several of us, he makes a couple rude tweets then suddenly ends up private on all his accounts. The entire time Borgata has turned a blind eye. Smh

PM Stan if he isn't already gone to florida. Who/how have you tried to contact at borgata? Did you try calling the poker room and trying to speak to someone who can do something about the situation? How long has it been since you did something to let borgata know? If it hasn't been that long there is a possibility that something will be done but they just haven't had a chance to.

Well @littleladyluck has been on the phone with the poker room who then told her to touch base with Rey Steffanelli because he is the promotions guy or something. We've gotten voicemails at least 10 times with no call backs. I think lady luck actually called casino mgmt in hopes they could help. The problem won't get rectified this late on the game I don't think but they should swallow another $560 and give another seat away (the right way) or something. Basically the poker room doesn't know much about it because they are not in control of promotions. This clearly isn't a reflection of the poker side of the house so much as the promotions/marketing side. Tab and the gang are great and run the best place on the east coast as Far as I'm concerned. The promotions team though, well they apparently have some relatives who can't quite afford the $560
