Should be looked at as a good thing for him, not a bad thing.

GL Stan!
Good for him, bad for us! Haha

Need to stop being selfish about this though you're right. Ill be down Friday and hopefully can say goodbye, good luck, and more importantly thank you for everything he's done for me.

well I think you are right it will be bad for us, let me give you four reasons:

(1) on-line gaming in New Jersey may pull players away from the live poker tables, this will be hardest felt with card rooms with the youngest players, and if the new director has responsibility for on-line matters, that will take his focus away from table games...

(2) competition with other poker rooms in the area is fierce, and the next poker director may have the same powers on paper, but doubtful he will have the power to create the miracles Stan, who had years of experience, did for us, (hey, and does, he is still here!)

(3) ironically, because the Borgata is the best managed property in AC, and with an eye towards profits, they may comp more slot players and less poker players rooms in the future, i.e. "The age of 'poker players' is over. The time of the 'slot player' has come!"

and (4) given the above items, especially, that there are so many thousands of slot players willing to plunk thousands into the machines, I would guess they are anticipating a smaller poker room in the future...

Stan, you're probably the best casino employee I've ever dealt with. I wish you success in Florida.

It speaks volumes about how dismal the future of AC must be, however, that you'd leave the largest room on the East Coast for a Florida racino. Especially with the new online poker coming to NJ...puts me in a pessimistic mood that PP's operation could even snag someone like Stan.

Really disappointed about Stan leaving, because I was confident that with him at the helm Borgata would do a great job in handling online poker when it finally gets up and running.

I'm sure he wouldn't be leaving if it wasn't in his best interests though, so I am happy for him. Sucks for the Borgata, but best of luck to Stand and thanks for everything!

Best of luck Stan. I don't get to visit as often as I'd like but everytime I've posted in here and contacted you via PMs you've responded like I was a reg.

Thanks.

Don't think I'll be able to visit Stan before his time is up. I would like to buy him a beer.

Best of luck in your move, Stan. Please train your replacement with everything you know in the next 10 days. Thanks!

Stan,

I just played at the Isle in January. I can't wait to see what you do with the room. Congratulations and enjoy your time in the sun. The Isle is a great room and I am sure you'll make it even Greater!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Take it back!

With that said, we will definitely miss you Stan. You have been a good friend and a grand ambassador for poker players.

You will be definitely missed at the Borgata.

Will definitely stop by to say hi during Event 1.

Stan,

in all the years playing poker, i have never seen anyone treat their room like the way you treated the Borgata. this room was your baby!...and it showed. you did everything for everyone all the time. your goal was to make your room the best in every way that you knew how while providing the best customer service that anyone could dream of, and in all honesty, that was a rarity from a poker players perspective.

whoever takes your place will indeed have very big shoes to fill.

you rocked.

all the best to you.

Like I've said before. This has been the Golden Age of Poker with generous comps, beyond anything seen before. I just spent 5 days at the Borgata and paid only for Saturday night ($99). And who am I? Just another 1/2 grinder, a nobody. I've always thought we were receiving undue largesse, given what I've seen for the past 20 years. So I have made a point of going down nearly every week for the past year and a half. And I'm all booked up through mid-June, every Thursday night plus two more 5 day trips. I hope it continues, even with Stan moving to greener pastures. But if not I will ride this wave hard until it crashes and enjoy every minute of it along the way. And when online comes back, the fun will be over. Let's face it, a good part of the earn is the younger lagtards and once they go back to Ipad poker, it will be back to the scene from Rounders, with the bemused pros at the Taj sitting around the table looking at each other in bewilderment.

Knish: This is what I like to see. Mike McDermott where he belongs, sitting with the scumbags, telling jokes, dragging the occasional pot...

Freddy Face: Occasional? Like my ex-wife occasionally went out with other men.

Knish: Forget her, Face, I was gonna actually try and make some real money tonight, but in honor of Mike's Ali-like return to the ring, I'll sit with you all for awhile.

Petra: Don't do us any favors Knish. They're about to go to the board to fill these seats.

Zagosh (looking pained): If we wanted to take each others' rolls we could have just stayed home...

Stan,

You were an asset to the Borgata and to poker players alike. I'd like to thank you for the unprecedented, superb treatment that we've received. It's been a pleasure to see you on this board as well as in the poker room. I wish you the best of luck on your next endeavor, although I doubt you'll need it. Pompano is very lucky to have you.
