One procedural question: How does the "dinner list" work? Is it simply that if you are on a table and want to go to dinner, you take your chips and put yourself on this list, and when you come back you are bumped to the top of the list? When I arrived in the evening, there was some confusion regarding seats and I had no idea what the rule was.
That is basically how it works. I believe you get up to an hour an a half weekdays and two hours weekends.

hey guys I finally turned 21 today,(happy me)
and i would like to check out the borgata tournaments asap.

here are my dumb questions for you guys..and i would really appreciate the answers

what happens to the winning from the tournaments if i happen to win any money? do you guys take the tax out of it? if not, do I need to pay it myself? I really don't know much about this area as I am just a college student

Do I get cash or check?
does the BBJ apply for the tournaments as well?

Thank you and wish you all the best luck.

Hey guys, heading over to the borgata Feb 16-20th.

Im planning on doing my first 2/5 session when I am there. Any suggestions? (What time to play? differences in gameplay? Who to avoid?)

Play = Any time. The Borgata will have between 8 and 14 games of 2/5 going on a Thursday through the weekend where at one time you mave have had 20 games.

Gameplay = The game will play bigger then 1/2 but the level of play is not that much better. On average 2 or 3 above average/good players and probably 2 donks.

Avoid = Rocco, ok that is a joke. If your table is bad, get a transfer because 2-5 at the B is normally good action.

If there are anywhere above 10 2/5nl tables running on Thursday, Feb 16, I would be completely shocked. Expect 6-9 tables during the peak time on Thursday Feb 16. Also, I haven't seen Rocco since September, anyone know if he's is ok?

Hey Stan,
The Borgata Winter Open was terrific as usual, and now I'm looking forward to the Spring Open in April. Please post the schedule of events (not necessarily the structure details of each event) as soon as is feasible so that I can save the dates, reserve rooms, etc. for the events that I want to play.
Thanks!

+1 I was there this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised at the level of play at 2/5. I could only put in 2 very short sessions of less than 3 hours each do to head cold and still picked up 1BI over that time.

I tried to play a tournament on Super Bowl Sunday and nobody signed up. How many runners does anyone think the Borgata will get for it's $350+$50 tourney on Saturday February 11th?

I am gonig to be there from Thurs till monday, and im thinking of doing the tournament on fri, so I was mostly deciding between sat and sun, and what time to play. But I think this brings up a good point, im sure that the more games running, the softer the games are, so I guess ill wait for there to be 10+ tables at least.

As for the action, yeah I was thinking the action wouldnt be a big jump. I already raise 12-18 PF in 1/2 because of the fish, I assume the average raise size would be 20-30 in 2/5? Of course most everyone will be playing deeper stacked.

Ive never xferred at 1/2, but i suppose that's a good idea, last time I played 2/5 im pretty sure I was at a pretty bad table (6 handed with 1 aggro fish, 1 good player, one nit and 2 shortstackers), but it was the middle of the night.

I don't mean to sound like a complete noob, but I am going to be in AC in a few weeks and I am going to play at the Borgata some while staying at Bally's. When I receive my seat at the table, Should I have already went to the cage and brought chips with me. Or do I bring cash and a "Chip Runner" gets the chips for me? The live casino I've played in required you to get your own chips from the cage before going to the table.

And is the procedure at Borgata standard at all AC casino's as well?

Your first buy in should be at the cage. If you bust you can buy at the table.

I'm thinking of booking 9 nights in march. Some comped, some not. I was wondering if they will be putting a $1350 hold on my card, or if there is a max hold they do or something?

I know if I stay 2 nights they usually hold $300, but a couple times theyve only held $150. Anyone else familiar with their policies of $150/night cc holds?

I meant as a security deposit when you check in...is that what you meant?

I thought it was $150/night regardless of rate.
