i'd agree with this with the caveat that there is a lot more tables at borgata and a lot more casual players. i often go check out another room hoping for a good 1/2 game or whatever and get sat with a table full of old rocks. at the borgata there are less rocks even amongst the regulars who tend to be more of the more aggressive breed and there a lot of tables to move around to.

I haven't been to my favorite casino in the US in at least a year. Any changes? After going to several more places and being sucked in to the WVA hype, I do miss the Borgata, the size, service smiles and most of all the poker room . I will be there Friday.

with the on-going collaps of taj the room is much busier now than a year ago. you'll be pleasantly surprised. also, mixed games now.

As a 1/2 recreational player, I don't get a lot of cool perks. I play at Harrah's properties a lot because they always give me free hotel rooms on Sundays and other weekdays, up to 2 a month. How likely am I to get comped rooms at the Borgata?

If I got free rooms on Sundays and other weekdays, I would be a lot more likely to play there.

Another minor concern is the quality of play at 1/2. My assumption is that the games at the Borgata would be a little tougher on average than at other casinos where poker is less of a priority. Do any AC regs have an opinion on this theory?

I am sorry if these questions have been asked but this thread is 165465416546 pages long and searching for "free room" didn't help much.
Poker Players would be totally shocked as to how easy it is to get comped or a reduced rate on a room at the Borgata. I guess a lot of players get used to staying and playing at certain places and don't try to see what is going on at other poker rooms. I am not shoced at all by the statement that you have never been to Borgata's poker room. There are more of you than you think. I wish more players would give us just one day of play to see what great offers they would end up with after that ONE trip. Sent you a PM btw.

like you hinted at, this is probably the best run room in the US. lines are never long if any. even at the busiest of times i've never waited more than 10 minutes or so. they open and break tables as needed all the time. a very attentive and active floor. new years day when i was there, there were about 15 1/2 games. over my 6 hour session i saw about 3 tables break and 2 tables open. a lot of places would just keep the list or let tables play short for an extended period knowing that it would even out "eventually".

I can't agree with this more and I definitely owe Stan a plug for the room. I used to make approximately 4 trips to the Taj each year for two nights at a time to play 2/5 NL. I decided to switch to Borgata something like three years ago and after just a few trips I started earning weekday comps. I still make about 3 or 4 trips a year and I can now get two days a week comped, including weekends.

Stan,

Are there any satellites for events in Winter Poker Open? If so, you will get another player to check out your room who has never played there before. If not, you should think about it for the future because some of the buy-ins are a little steep for recreational players.

Thanks in advance.

In case you didn't know, they opened a 2nd poker room @ Borg, where games spread require minimum buy-in of $10k. Any thoughts from those who have visited?

I wouldn't really say it is a second room; there is a new, two table high limit area in the back right side of the poker room where there used to be 9 tournament only tables. It has a comfy-looking couch and a few large TVs.

There is no glass around it like at Bobby's Room at the Bellagio, just open except for an unlocked 2 foot high metal gate. I haven't played in the room (and don't expect to ever have the money to do so) but it looks very nice. I have seen a game go there a few times, I believe it was the $300-$600 limit mixed game.

I have found it easier to get comped rooms at Borgata than at any of the Harrah's properties...the food is great...and there is a great selection of complimentary drinks including Heineken in a bottle...I can't imagine a poker trip to AC that doesn't include playing poker at Borgata...

I think if you put in one or two good sessions in (maybe 15 total hours), you will start to see offers roll in. During the offpeak season, comp room offer Sun-Thursday 2 nights a week is not uncommon for almost anyone who puts in some play. Even more play will get deeply discounted weekend rates, if not fully comped there.

I used to take a group of guys up to play a few times a year and Borgata definitely took care of us. I even remember being in the pit and someone complaining about the lack of comps and they told him to go to the poker room because they take care of theirs Thanks Borgata and Stan for everything. Although I recently checked my comps, they ain't bad for someone who hasn't been in a year and a half but my buddy is still getting free weeknights and some weekends at extremely low prices. Looks like I will have to come back more often.

Games spread in the new high area are any limit game 300/600 or higher and any big bet game 25/50 or higher. Min buyin for 25-50nl/plo is 5k.

The Bellagio ain't bad and I love the celeb sitings, but honestly their poker room is lacking. The better poker room in Vegas is Venetian, but it doesn't get much action. Aria is crowded but again because it is small. Anyways I am totally excited to play there this weekend.

DIPCE, its very possible to get comps based on play and also who you know, even at 1/2 .

From my experience players break games at Borgata when games gets too short unless the game is phenomenal. Although on occassion I have seen floor people encourage players to keep the game entact I've never seen the floor have a real choice in the matter or the last say.

In other rooms I have received the same exact treatment.

This is all true. Just play a bit with your red card and you will get room offers. I have now switched to the Borgata nearly completely. I don't see the need to bother with other venues given the quality of the poker room and the hotel rooms themselves. The Revel will only ensure the current state of affairs for at least a year or so, as the supply of available rooms will be very high, and demand will only increase slowly as the economy begins to recover.

I am beginning to fear that the return of online poker will hurt the live rooms. I hope that something comes along to deep-six New Jersey's plan to legalize online poker within the next year.

What price range of main events are you interested in? $100, $200, more, less?

CSF,

There are sit-n-goes, from 30 + 10 to 1000 + 60, although I have never seen the 30 + 10 go off, mostly the 100 + 20 and the 250 + 30, I used the 120 a couple of times to "freeroll."

You can have the funds needed, or most of the funds needed to enter most of the events or the satellites for the main in about 2 hours.

This. Was at borg for first time in over a year last week and put 25ish hours into the 20 and 40 games. Was pleasantly surprised by the room offers i had available this week

I must say that there is currently no other option than Borgata for Poker in AC at the moment. Put in a few session of even 1/2 NL and you will get comped rooms Sun-Thurs and discounted weekend rates.

Plus the BBJ is always enticing as well, Planning a trip for next week to get in on some action before the series begins.

I play 1-2 NL, was playing about 5-7 hrs per day that I am at the casino. (although my most recent trip I was up near 10-12)

I am going up for the holiday weekend in 2 weeks. Got four nights (thurs-sun) for 259 dollars after tax. pretty amazing. I basically get any sun-thurs comped, even on holiday weekends if I book early enough.

Event #6 could have a $125.00 satellite, every 10 get to tourney

Event #20 could have a $175.00 satellite, every 10 get to tourney

Event #22, $125.00 satellite, every 10 get to tourney

Event #23 i would be interested in a $350 satellite to the main event

anyway, satellites would help recreational players get into the bigger events and IMO would attract even more players in the current economy
