I don't consider myself properly rolled for a $1000 buy-in structure, so that's a big reason I haven't sat in the game. That said, the few times I've watched the game, the stacks didn't look much different than your typical 2/5 game. The only advantage the 3/5 currently offers someone like myself is if I spot someone who I know is really bad with a large stack in the 3/5 game, I have the opportunity to come into that game for the larger buy-in and get a bigger crack at that player than a 2/5 game would initially offer me.

this might sound lame,
but i heard something about 2/5 players being worse than 1/2 players?
is this true? i wanna ask people who usually play 2/5 and 1/2.

Ive only played 2/5 once and i was kinda too nervous to call a $25 raise pf.

I think the information sheet showed it as 10k chips/25 min levels.

$25 is a standard 2/5 NLHE raise. Anywhere from $20 - $35 is actually. Sometimes more if the table has a couple of loose agressive types who like to see big pots.

If calling $25 preflop makes you nervous, then frankly you shouldn't be playing 2/5 NLHE. Scared money is dead money.

As for the 2/5 players being worse, I disagree. Just the opposite, in fact.

Ok, here's a small trip report...

Hadn't been to Borgata in like 2 years, but decided to check out the scene.

Got there late Monday night/early Tuesday and saw plenty of silly drunk action up until about 7-8am. Played again Tuesday night and hit a ton of hands. The action wasn't great, but I seemed to get paid off a modest amount on all of them. Overall the room was pretty quiet, until someone slammed the table and screamed in excitement quickly followed by a bunch more screams and some high fives.

The small badbeat hit. Quad 8s vs. quad 2s. Losing hand got ~$20k, winning hand ~$10k. A chick who had just busted was demanding to get cut in by the rest of the players. Kinda curious how much she hustled out of them...

As for my experience with the dealers, the majority of the dealers there are still top notch compared to the rest in NJ, DE, CT, and PA...

What has the BBJ debate been like in the 10/20 game lately? Last time I was there was soon after the "incident" where the jackpot would've been hit if the game was eligible and general sentiment among the more vocal regulars seemed to be that they were going to try to get it back.

I haven't really even heard anyone complain about it being removed or saying they wanted it back. Most of the talk about that incident was just people noting it was funny that the guy who was the most involved in getting the BBJ taken off is the one who would have hit it (he won the hand so would have gotten the smaller share, but still a nice chunk of change). I also thought that was funny, but I don't want it back.

190 entrants on a bitterly cold Wednesday in February? That's amazing.

yeah only reason I didn't play the o8 event was super bowl as well. It wasnt really advertised as I was only told by an o8 reg when I was there.

I got destroyed this passed weekend in o8 played like crap and couldnt make a win = me losing a nice chunk. PLO was kinda fun. I think the table was getting mad that at 1/2 I just made it a 5$ bring in every time I wanted to play a hand.

Wednesdays always draws huge....pretty much 175+ every week....unless there's a snow storm.

I love the Wedns tourneys. I played one about 6 weeks ago that had ~320

I outlasted AT LEAST 25% of the field....end brag

Hmm wonder why that would be? I could see this during the summer when people are on vacation, but there's no special draw to AC right now. The Winter Open is over.

Wedns is a 30K guar....15K morning and 15K evening 11am and 7Pm

That's guaranteeing 150 runners each tourney (or providing the lay-over)....they always get more than that....often WAY more.

It's a GREAT tourney....awesome value.

Ah OK, didn't know that. That would explain it. Next time I'm off on a Wednesday I might try that with the guaranteed prize pool.

Anyone know how to check how close you are to black card from playing poker since it is different from the main borgata website?

I think you have to calculate it yourself. There are monthly summaries of your comp dollars available, and you can look at the adjustments for previous months to see how much you've earned in the last 12 month period.

Head to the desk in front of the sit and go area (before the final table tourney area)

And if one of the shift managers is not too busy, you can ask him to check your black card comp status. But please be aware that there are peak times, and slow times, and ask accordingly.

Can anyone tell me how many runners the new Friday tournaments will get? The 12PM has a buyin of $300 and the 6PM has a buyin of $450. What is the usual turnout for this thing?

sign up for the email list and every time you play at the B you will get a statement in your inbox within 2 days. It tells you all the comps you got for that trip, how much in comps total you got and how many more you need to get a black card.
