Stayed at the Borgata last Thursday and played some 1/2NL. The poker room is very nice and all of the dealers were great. If I didn't run like ass and lose the 3 bullets I brought I probably would have played even more. Got it in 3 times ahead and lost, but hey that's poker. Can't wait to plan another trip.

I was really hoping to play in one of the BPO events this weekend, but work schedule is such that I'll only have Saturday free -- Will the Borgata be running their regular Saturday tournaments this weekend?

I see there are a lot of Championship Event Qualifier Sattellites that day... What is the Borg's policy on turning a Championship Event entry into cash? Is it a lammer system that you can sell back or sell to players at the sign-up desk?

I think on most days they have main events at 11am and 12pm, and then second chance events at 4pm and 7pm, so you should be able to play an event at the same time as when a regular tourney would have been scheduled. The website should have specifics.

But I'm only going to be around on Saturday Sept 18, and...
Saturday Sept 18 is Day 1A of the Championship Event (obviously not a one day event)

Which is why I asked about the "Qualifier" Satellites at 1pm, 4pm and 8pm... Any value in me playing those if I'm not around for Day 1B, 2, 3, 4, or 5?

OR are the "regular" tournies being run?

I don't think you can exchange seats for money or future tickets. Check the site and look at the super satellite pdf which includes satellites and tournaments outside of the main events.

I just read something about a "dinner list". Can someone tell me what this is? Last time I was at the Borgata, I just left my chips on the table and ran downstairs to grab a quick dinner. Is there another option?

Thanks in advance.

I tried this last weekend. I think it works by you taking your chips off the table and talking to the front desk, who puts you on the list for a period of time (on Friday's it's apparently max 2 hours), allowing a new player to take your seat. Once you get back, you're first on the list for the game (both the must-move and the main game, if both exist). I'm not sure if/how it works for games that have several tables like 1/2 NL, and if you're supposed to keep the same stack as when you left if you're gone for more than an hour. (I did, but it was a limit game anyways)

There's no point in going on the dinner list for 1/2 NL because you will never have to wait more than 5 minutes for a seat. However, in a game like 10/20 Limit going on the dinner list is a courtesy to the other players. It's good for you, too: you usually don't have to wait long for a seat to open up and you avoid paying time while you're gone, unlike if you left your stack at the table.

Last time I was there the 10/20 main game had 4 or 5 guys leave their chips at the table while they ate/smoked/whatever. I guess no one wanted to play shorthanded so the game stopped for around 15 minutes until someone finally returned. It is pretty common in this game for people to leave their chips on the table while they take a long break, but they are paying $5 per half hour for the privilege which seems pretty dumb to me.

I don't understand all these people refusing to play short handed. It's one of the most irritating and tilting things to me that they'd rather break a game than play short handed for ~10 minutes until it fills up.

It is simple, people don't want the variance. They don't want to have to play a mental game every hand. They just want to sit back and scoop an occasional pot. I don't understand the confusion as to their motives Everyone isn't playing the same game or for the same reasons.

True dat. Game was about to break at 4 AM but I convinced people to play 4 handed and we lasted through the night until the early birds showed up. Not to mention the 2 hours we played 4 handed was one of the most fun tables I've ever played.

I don't mind playing short-handed for a short while, while the game fills up again. However, I know that I'm pretty bad at adjusting to short-handed situations, so I am more likely to call it a night when the table gets to about 5 handed for an extended period and is unlikely to fill back up.

Hey Stan I have a question about starting a HOSE game + NLHE and PLO. I know Borgata always says if it has a list it will start a game, but just thought Id ask if they would even put this on the board? Thanks again for everything I really appreciate it.
