I thought Borgata terminated its contract with WPT as WPT was going bankrupt or in serious financial trouble?

WPT is here in September.

Mini trip report from yesterday. Warning: Sorta long, do read.

I arrived there earrrly-around 930am. They let me check in cause they had a room and they are awesome like that. King bed, 16th floor, view of the city verrrry niiice. I was traveling solo since no one else could get the day off with me. I'm done writing like a 4th grader I promise kinda. The room seems a little empty, people mention the taj BBJ is like 600K and thats why it's a little quieter then usual. I decide the extra 300K or so in the TAJ BBJ isn't really worth my life and Borgata smells better so here we go.

I go to play Omaha but alas it's not going yet (I figued it was too early) so I enter the 11am 15K guarantee instead. Cruising a long until I made what I thought was a well timed play but against the wrong player. This player coincidentally was a huge douche. He was being an azz to all the dealers and a kid at my table stood up for the dealer saying "so it's the dealers fault you are losing?" and dbag replied something like "who are you, you are nothing, mind your business" to which the kid said, "no i won't, I won't let you berate the dealer". I was down with it. I guess it was a good time to bust considering tension was building.

Busto at 1PM, Omaha 10/20 goes at 1PM-good timing. I suck at the game, only played it live 3 times but I still manage to be winning quite a bit until this dude shows up and owns my life taking my high pot with a set every-time against my top two pair while I get quarter'd for the low. I'm actually not sure he knew it was an 8 or better game. I am pretty sure he was playing for only hi hands. I am then lectured by the regs in the game about certain situations to which I really enjoy because they are teaching me how to play better and beat them. At one point, one of the guys says "well why am I teaching you anyway" to which i replied, "yeah no **** but thank you sir!" I also confused many with my play betting marginal hands which apparently is a nono at this game since the regs only play good hands, and this is supposed to be no-bluff, no creative play, turn our hands face up and see who wins. Anyway I had a good time losing 200 despite being up 350 at one point(yuck). I go hit up fatburger, shower it off, read super system 2 on O8 for an hour where I come to realize why everyone was making faces at me then it's on to the 7PM tourney. (well hey at least i'm on a good schedule to maximize my day).

7PM tourney, I jump out to a huge chip lead. Not to get too deep into the poker but this guy makes it 600 to go in Level 1 (25-50) and everyone who knows anything about poker knows what he has. I am in the BB with J9 clubs and figure if I hit it, he's shipping because he had a military hat on and no one pushes an ex soldier around (stereo typing is profitable). Flop is JJ6 and yep, I stacked someone on the 3 hand of the tournament. Good times. I was wrong about what he had though, KK not AA as I thought. Anyway, I end up with 60K after Level 6 including a ridiculous A high call in a 3-way pot which I thought was pretty easy but apparently one that only donkeys make according to the very stocky(being nice cause I'm stocky as well and we don't like to be called fat), bald man with gotee. I mean it was pretty easy based on the board, the line's of the villain and also that he looked more nervous then a virgin on prom night. Anyway whatever, I ended up losing my entire stack before the money when my AK<Q9, 22<A7, 88<99, JJ<AQ, and 1010<KK. Yep that all happend in 2 levels (blinds were 800-1600 at that time) and i lost 60K. Suicide watch?!

Had a great time, can't wait to go back.

Stan, another player and I are having a disagreement that we need you to settle. To wit, we need to know why so many slot machines were removed from the area outside the poker room.

She cheated - this wasn't the first time that particular conversation occurred in 20/40

For the tourny series coming up can anyone shoot an estimate on how many players there will be for the first and second events and if they will possibly sell out? Thank you

This is simply not true and many Borg regs have been coming to Taj. Wouldn't you if you were freerolling 400k per $1 drop more on the BBJ?

I'm sure whoever hits the BBJ at taj will be perfectly safe unless they do something monumentally stupid. I assume nobody is taking 300k in cash and walking down the boardwalk or up Maryland Avenue.

I believe event #1 could sell out. I don't remember a $200 + $30 semi-deepstack ever being offered....and I think all events will be in poker room...so:

Event #1 - 720 (don't know how many tables will be allotted)
Event #2 - 480

BTW....I am playing in event #3....starting day 1a....looking forward to it

tbh i highly suggest against getting a stamp/bracelet at the borgata

they rarely, if ever, (ive put a lot of play in that room over the last few years and have been carded enough times to count on 2 hands) card in the poker room and when they do it's simply a cursory glance at your ID if that.

however, the one time i went to get a stamp, i was interrogated by the security officers. they asked me to sign my name 3 times on a piece of paper... then asked me all the details about my license. after all that they were pretty much ready to boot me from the casino (even though i answered all the questions right and my ID was authentic, real and i was well of age) until i got angry and started throwing down 2348234823 forms of ID that had my name on it... student id w/ my picture and birthdate (wasnt good enough), credit card with my name on it (still wasnt good enough), another credit card with my name on it (they still wouldnt stamp my hand and looked ready to kick me out) and finally a health insurance card with my name on it (they all gathered around this one, stared at it, called a supervisor over, mulled over it for a mintue) then they stamped my hand

just flash your ID in the poker room. casino security at the borg is the hugest pain in the ass ive ever had to deal with in my life. all my friends had to go through the same process. it took 3 of us nearly 30+ minutes to get hand stamps.

the poker room staff/waitresses are much more reasonable and aren't going to interrogate you or waste your time.

Last time I was at the Borg the only time I witnessed carding was when a new table started up. Didn't seem out of the ordinary to me and also didn't seem like a hassle since everyone was handing their borgata cards to staff anyways.

zero

Most of the dealers and floors recognize me now so I don't get carded too much anymore, but it still amounts to about 3 times per session (including the cage). But there have been times where I've been carded 9 times in one session so it really depends on who is working, and whether or not you're wearing a Justin Bieber t-shirt.

i get carded several times when I go there its like old hat ask for a drink get carded ...play in the pit get carded... play poker get carded

I got the stamp and still get carded

It is really funny how it works bec. when i came there when I was 18 I never got carded ... now that I am 24 I always get carded even for cigs now lol

and its really easy to get a stamp go to the poker room as walk to the end of the cage and right around the corner is the security thingy you just walk up to it .. not at room and bam you have a stamp !

That information is on a "need to know" basis.

And, as far as Borgata is concerned, we do not need to know.

It's not a bad thing. Borgata just made a change.

If one of my neighbors whom I don't know well were to ask me why I made some changes to my home, I wouldn't share all of my concerns with him.

The explanation that I heard (I can't recall from whom) was that the B. pays a fee per-machine that is on the floor, so they reduced the number of machines on the floor to be more cost-efficient.

This was a few weeks ago during the first days of the removal project, so my memory may not be perfect.

Probably true. I read the AC report from the governor's team on how to revive AC (something to that effect) and it stated they have to pay the CCC a little over $1000 per machine (I think per year) in regulatory costs.
