Well, since I have no experience "gaming the comp system", I can't comment around that. But, in the places where I have played that have the system (Foxwoods, Venetian, Bellagio), it always seemed to have some kind of trouble/issue. I also never saw any major improvement in filling empty seats as a result, either.

Several times, in different casinos, the floor had to be called, for something related to the reader or the buttons (or the dealer?) not functioning properly.

I don't think that it will stop the walking problem. Other than the folks who are referred to here as "gaming the comp system" - people get up and walk when they get up and walk. You really think .50 - 1.00 is gonna keep em in their seats? They walk in the B and V all the time... and FW has a "3rd man" rule, it's so bad up there. All with the Bravo system.

If folks are happy with it - fine. I find it annoying. But that's just me. I don't give rats ass about comp dollars, though

I dont see a problem with borgata system and to me it seems like the best/easiest/quickest way of doing things. It doesnt slow up the game AT ALL!!!!! Floor people are liek robots asking for your card when you first sit down so yo never forget, and as far as checking out Cmon people take some responsibility for yourselves. Swiping out away from the table keeps the game going uninterrupted.

Ever since the all you can eat buffet was conceived of, I admit I have been gaming the system. Tune in Saturday night to "Americas Most Wanted," and watch me in the process of being apprehended for grand theft buffet.

Its the only way I was able to get even with the Borgata after I lost three grand pulling slots...

I'm staying here this weekend until Tuesday for the deep stacks. I have a concert (The Wall) to go see Tuesday night, so say I make day 2, what time do day 2s usually go on until? Because I'm not missing this concert for the world, so I'd rather not reg if it's going to go very long.

Looks to me like the day 2's start @ 1:00 for the final table. Day 1's play down to a final ...

See ya in 12 hours Borgata....

Very good trip. Tuesday was ok, broke even and got targeted by gypsies. They should stay at Taj... then waited 10 minutes in a 10 car line to leave because one car didn't want to pay. At least they opened a new booth and let us out for free.

Played the 11am today went deep and finished 7th for 726. Thanks to Stan and his great staff like always.

Just as Stan said, there shouldn't be a separate rule for time and rake games because the same issue, people walking just to collect comps, affects both time and rake games.
I believe you misunderstood what Stan said. It looks to me like he said they would not clock people out of a timed game while they were walking.

There definately should be different rules for timed and raked games. When a player in a raked game is walking he is not paying the house. When a player in a timed game is walking he is still paying the house. No one is going to walk in the 10/20 holdem game and pay $10 an hour cash to earn $2 an hour in comps.

They have the system at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and they did clock out walkers in the raked 15/30 game but I was told they did not in the timed 30/60 game.

First off we are changing some the comp rewards for some of the Hold'em games. This is for now until we decide to change it. This is not just for November. All if these changes will start November 1st.

2-4 Limit Holdem was .50 cents an hour/// It is now $1 an hour a 100% increase.

3-6, 4-8, 5-10, 6-12 Limit Hold'em was $1 and hour/// It is now $1.50. A 50% increase.

20-40 Limit Holdem was $2 an Hour///It is now $3 an hour. A 50% increase.

1-2 No Limit was $1 an hour/// It is now $1.50 an hour. A 50% increase.

Also for the month of November we are having a promotion for the 10-20, 20-40 and 40-80 Limit Hold'em games. If you play a minimum of 30 hours in these games we will double your comp points.

Example: If you play 28 hours of 20-40 you will still receive the $84 comp dollars as normal. 28 X $3 = $84 Comp Dollars

Example: If you play 85 hours of 20-40 in November you will receive double comp points for all 85 hours. That is 85 X $6 = $510 Comp Dollars. At the time you swipe out you will receive the normal $3 an hour in comps. Around the 1st of December you will receive the other $3 an hour ($255).

We will double your comps upto 100 hours for a total of $300 (20-40 Holdem) $200 for (10-20 Holdem) $300 for (40-80 Holdem)

Stan
This is great Stan. You're doing a lot to keep the 20-40 game packed, we appreciate it.

With Parx and Sands Bethlehem opening more tables next month, I hope they can find work there. Some former Borgata-ites are already dealing at Parx.

I can't say I'm surprised. I've gone to the Borg regularly on Saturdays for the past three years and there are probably half as many cash game tables open as there used to be. On a Saturday that room used to be PACKED. Now they've moved the cash games to different tables to give the illusion of a fuller room. I mean just this past Saturday, they had 2/5 NL tables breaking up at 6:30 PM, unthinkable just a year ago. With Del Park and the PA casinos open for business, I really can't see how it's will ever get back to where it used to be. The only "feeder" market they have left is NYC except for the summer months, but even then, I don't see how that room ever gets packed again unless there's some kind of wild promotion/tourney going on.

Sadly I see that, too. After Chester opened up and well before Parx at the night of the Friday, September 10th visit, it was stunning for me to see one-third of the room empty. I'm visiting the Borgata with co-worker tonight. (Yes twice in the same week!) I'm curious as to how the room looks tonight, even when there's a NJEA Teachers Convention going on today and tomorrow. 1-2 NLHE will be my arsenal.

I love the Borg; it is hands down the best poker room I have ever visited. I continued to go there even after Harrah's Chester opened because I was pretty dissatisfied with that place, and was willing to drive double the time and miles to go to the Borg. But now with Parx open 15 miles from home, and being reasonably satisfied with what I saw there last night, I don't see how I can justify driving over 100 miles more round-trip and spending an extra 2 hours on the road, plus an extra $11.50 in tolls, plus an extra $5 to park. Plus in the summer, dealing with the God-awful shore traffic. And honestly if I lived really close to Harrah's Chester then I'd simply spend all my poker time at Del Park. It's too bad I don't live closer to the Borg but that's the way it is

The double comp promotion should keep the mid limit players at Borgata at least through November. From the Parx thread it looks like the comp rate there is just $1 an hour, compared to Borgata where these players will earn between $4 and $6 an hour (if they put in over 30 hours). The comp rates in the 1-2 NL games were also raised and Stan said earlier that 2-5 NL players should expect some kind of promotion in the future.

Clearly a lot of players will check out Parx because it is brand new. But I think they will eventually realize that aside from proximity to Philly, it won't be able to compete with Borgata on food, non-smoking environment, free alcoholic drinks, rake structure, and game selection. The PA players will slowly filter back to Borgata, imo.

We have a total of (32) live games right now. A good verity of Stud, Limit Holdem, Omaha H/L, and NL. Bad Beat is now over $225,000

We'll see. I will say this much, the free parking coupon I got in the mail enticed me to go to the Borg in September and October as opposed to Del Park which is a little closer to me, also has free parking and doesn't have the tolls.

I want to make clear, Borgata has done nothing wrong except be a tolled, pain-in-the-ass drive from my house. They are superior in just about every way to any other casino except for the $5 parking. (I'll never play enough hours to get a black card.) On a weeknight it's out of the question, I can't just head over to the Borg after work. We'll see how it goes for weekends in the future. I have to be able to justify passing up a 15 mile, toll free, free parking trip to Parx if I'm going to continue playing at the Borg.

pretty easy imo when you consider how awesome the Borg is and how ****** pretty much every other card room ever is

Yeah, that's pretty sad to see. The room used to be always packed on Saturday afternoon, but now the half of the low-limit room next to the bathroom almost always stays deserted. I didn't expect Pennsylvania to steal so many customers so soon.

For some reason that one tourney does not have a click-able 'details' button.

Thx.
