Yeah, been playing at the Borgata since they opened and don't think I've ever seen 1/3. I'd welcome it, but I don't mind 1/2, either. It's more inviting and less intimidating to people wandering in, as well.

I'd rather they keep it 1/2, I think 1/3 will take away from the 2/5 game.

More than anything, though, please don't spread 1/2 & 1/3 like Parx - I'll never understand why they do that, should be one or the other IMO.

Yeah Parx is the silliest room in existence. The only good game there is the 5/5 PLO game.

Soft opening for Borgata??? Or just more testing? Bravo showing 4 tables right now, and no 1/2 game listed. Just 1/3 NL, 10-20 limit, 2/5 NL and 3-6 limit.

just got the email confirming start time and other details

We are happy to welcome back our loyal players as we reopen Atlantic City's market-leading East Coast poker destination at 10am on Wednesday, October 21. We have made some changes to enhance our guest's experience and are excited to reintroduce live poker and the Borgata Poker brand more safely.

All poker play will be live cash games on seven-handed tables with polycarbonate barriers. Hand sanitizing dispensers will be accessible throughout The Poker Room, with frequent disinfecting of high touch points. Masks are required in all public areas and spectators will not be permitted in The Poker Room.

But what I do not like in the email is this:
Quote:
Customers must wear face coverings at all times, except when doing so would inhibit your health.
Some people will make up all kinds of excuses to not wear masks. Not wearing a mask potentially “inhibits“ everyone’s health.

It is my opinion that, if you are not going to wear a mask, you should stay at home. If you have breathing issues or problems, you really do not want to get infected with COVID-19. Lying in a hospital bed, trying to breathe with a ventilator and a hose down your trachea makes it significantly more difficult to breathe.

from a business standpoint, it's alot easier to generate rake at 1/3, especially 7 handed.

at 1/2, 4 players can limp, someone bets on the flop and everyone else folds = no rake.

at 1/3, 3 players limp + sb folds = $10 threshold for rake + jackpot drop

Does anyone know if there will be any high hand promos or changes to the previous $4 + 1 rake structure once Borgata poker opens?

The Borgata Bravo site says as of October 16, 2020, all Borgata Poker promotions are cancelled until further notice.

At 4+1 you are getting a bargain. I have been paying 5+2 for 3 months and am strongly considering cancelling all my free rooms at MGM for the next month and coming to Borg bc they have the same rewards program.

you're better off playing 1/3 and paying more rake. Only would make a difference if you're playing 2/5 as they have time rake which is much better than pot rake.

I'll be playing 40/80 as soon as it goes. 2/5 was always a bit to reg infested for my liking. Optimistic for Fri/Sat nights, although the pandemic has rendered LHE obsolete on the east coast thus far.

Two points:

For the players: no visitors allowed in the poker room.
(Bring enough Benjamin Franklins for your gf to be
Entertained elsewhere in the casino)

For the management: about 30% of the prima donnas,
Lock up a seat and then spend 90 minutes at lunch
Without getting picked up. Is it too much to ask
For a more sensible policy at the 1-2 tables?

I can't imagine the usual two-absent-button guideline applying. Miss the BB twice, maybe.

Whatever the rule, enforcement is sure to be variable, and the regulars' attitude will be "right, that means other people."

I am in favor of a player getting picked up after approximately 30 minutes. 30 minutes should be ample time for a bathroom break or a quick snack. If a player wants to eat lunch or dinner somewhere, they should cash out their chips. I also hope they decide to change the 1/2 NL to 1/3 NL and shut out the nits that prefer 1/2 NL.

the guy helping out the borgata poker room setup is mgm national harbor's poker manager. (johnny grooms)

i can attest to 2 missed blind buttons (about 10min if 6 handed) = dealer pressing the supervisor button on Bravo to have him picked up.
but depending on how busy the room is, it might take another orbit for the supervisor to actually come over.

the borgata's policy never made sense.
they already have a dinner list of 90-120 mins depending on the day of the week so there was never a reason to let people leave for so long other than the fact they're too lazy to bag people up.

Where I play in MD/DC area it's been changed to 30 min. Hopefully Johnny will incorporate that change here as well.

7 handed game may bring back to LHE some of the old regs who migrated to NLHE or PLO. I can't stand 9 handed LHE anymore but would be there on Wedn and may help out starting a short 40 game.

There should be two different set of rules. One is for the lower limit where eating at the tables wasn't allowed to begin with - pick up after 30 min. The other one for the high limit room - leave everything as is (2 buttons +). Some games revolve around one or two players- pick them up and the game breaks.
