Darn I’m jealous, not sure when I’ll be able to go to Borg again. Weekends have started to get busy

Anyone who's been playing, have the lists improved due to decreased demand or has Borgata gotten better at managing the volume? I'm not going to be able to go down any time soon unfortunately, but in a nerdy way I'm fascinated by how different businesses are managing all these new situations lol

I drove in 3 weeks ago. Pulled up late on a Friday night, about 10:30pm, to a 6 deep wait list for 1/3. Name was called within 30 mins.

Open seating the following Saturday evening. I was a little surprised since it was the night of the Connor fight. Expected to see more action but like someone said in this thread earlier - they’ve been soft since reopening. My tables were like morgues.

Oddly enough, I saw more chips fly at Harrah’s.

You shouldn't base the whole room on one tight table at one given moment in time lol. And it's usually the tightest player at the table complaining about how tight the table is.

Been there enough times to share my opinion. I wasn’t even referring to “one tight table.” The poker room was a morgue for a fight night. Go ahead and put on ya cape though.

It was nothing personal against you, bud. Usually when a player plays somewhere and they sit in bad game, they would say "those games there are terrible", etc.

I play here almost every day, I was here for fight night, my 2/5 games are some of the easiest I've ever played in. I guess to each his own then.

The 7max games require a different strategy than the old 10max games. It’s not necessarily harder/tighter, just a different skillset down unfamiliar alleys of the decision tree

I mainly play 2-5, 5-5, 5-10 (in that order) but once in the while end up at a $1-3 table while waiting for other games. It is by far the worst game in the room in terms of action. It is still very soft and very crushable but chips are barely moving and way too many people are sitting with <$200 stacks. It feels like 1-2 regulars who used to buy in for $60-80 are now buying in for the 1-3 table minimum and trying to make those $80 (or whatever it is) last for the entire session. I know few guys who used to play 1-2 for a living but now see them playing 2-5 on short buyins. Not sure its a good idea but who am I to judge

yup this is true x100...can't tell you how many pro's I've seen on an every day basis starting at MDL when they first opened, then they all started to fade away (and there were no other rooms open at the time). It's def diff than full ring poker and adjustments need to be made.

I sure hope they're still living at home with no bills cuz that's gonna be really hard to support one's self with room, board, food and transportation alone.

Can you elaborate on how 7-handed differs from 10-handed in terms of strategy?

Thanks

Please not here. Strategy posts should go in one of the strat forums.

I think that was more antagonism than strategy, at least I hope so, lol

First time at Borgata post covid shutdown and I feel like this "text you when your seat is ready" is kind of a mess.

Waiting lines are taking awhile.

How long do they give people after texting them?

Anywhere from a minute to 15 mins depending on who is working
It's a complete mess as usual in their poker room

They text you a phone number which says to call within one minute to lock up your seat.

FYI My texts never work at any Bravo (borgata, Parx, MDL) but my email does. If it's your first time ask her to send a quick test, otherwise give her your email which works for me.

If you're waiting in the front you can look for your name on the waiting list. If it's blinking that means you've been called.

Just pretend that the first three players after the blinds have folded.

A few things of interest including a warning about a scammer/phisher at Borgata...

1. Has anyone noticed getting less in comps per hour at 2/5 or 5/T? I got closer to $1.75 than $2. Maybe I just got inadvertently lobbied for a couple hours... I want to be sure cause I keep close track of how long I need to play to get room offers.

2. I earned $51 comp dollars in three days, usually that would be good enough to get me room offers, but nothing is showing up yet. Sometimes it takes an extra day, but the system is still the same right? Earn an average of $15/day in comps for free room offers any day of the week?

3. I ordered takeout from Noodles of the World, and when I went to pick it up they set my bag down on the counter and went to run my card. Another man walked up a couple minutes later and was looking around for his order. He came over and looked at my bag as if checking to see if it was his. I told him it was mine but he kept looking at it, and I didn't think much of it, maybe he just wanted to be sure it wasn't his.

The woman came over and he said something to her and she went to get his order, and then he took out his phone and started punching a phone number in while still looking over at my receipt. When I looked over I could see his phone screen and it was my number. I said something like, "Hey that's me, I'm right here, this is my order, what's going on?" and repeated it. He addressed me by my first name in an overly friendly tone as if he knew me and I was being silly, like "Oh, cuse, I know you're right there, I can see you watching me..."

So now I'm wondering if I know this guy, or if I played with him this weekend, or what. But I don't and I'm pretty sure I didn't. I get my receipt, sign, and start walking away and he starts following me. I think he got his order, but it's possible he never had one and just was 100% scamming, I was more focused on leaving him in the dust.

He explains that he likes to prank people by calling them after they leave restaurants and posing as staff and saying they gave them the wrong food and they ate something disgusting. I nod and say ok and speed up. He speeds up and is telling me how funny he thinks this is. I nod and speed up. He speeds up, and asks me if I've ever seen some prank show on tv from years ago. I say no and speed up and he finally peels off.

I've gotten seven calls today that are showing up as random businesses in Florida on caller ID, all seem to be spoofed because I've answered twice and it's a robocall scam trying to get your social security number, so I reported it to the FTC.

So watch out for a dude trying to get personal info off takeout order receipts at the Borg, they have your name/number/email on them, and at best he's going to sign you up for a bunch of spam calls/emails. Hopefully that's the worst of it.

I'd say he's about 5'9, Indian, a little overweight, thinning hair. If I recall correctly, he was dressed sort of business casual - a white or light blue button down shirt, I think.
