This just happened in the latest NY State budget about to be passed. They are starting to turn the wheels on how much money they can make from it.

https://twitter.com/JimmyVielkind/st...87118637400064

I doubt it would happen until 2022 at the earliest, but I could see them moving up the deadline one year, or being ready to go at the deadline. Especially for the existing casinos in Yonkers, owned by MGM, and Queens, Resorts World where not much would need to be done.

a ton would need to be done
empire city isn't big but it's a cash cow. they aren't taking out their slot machines to put in things that are way less profitable.

I'll have to defer to you on that one, as I've never been inside either, just driven past. However, I do know both have been lobbying hard to allow table games. As every other casino, I'm sure poker will be way down the totem pole in regards to priority but I expect both would have poker rooms that I expect to be quite large, based on the demand I know exists in the area.

Aqueduct and Empire both also have plenty space, at least by NYC standards....also assumption for Empire, I've only driven by as well. Feels like they'll work in a poker room at some level.

I've also heard whispers from people I know who are on the outskirts of the know who say it's at least being talked about in preliminary plans. Take with a grain of salt, people love to bullshit about what they swear they know to tell you what you like to hear lol

they running a business not a charity. if you don't like it take your business elsewhere, see if you'll get the same cheap rooms and volume of games as borgata

if enough entitled poker playas start walking and they actually start hurting they'll start giving away free rooms but i don't see it happening

The key thing for New Yorkers here is going to be who's the operator? You want to make sure you get an operator who's poker friendly, who sees poker as part of a world class casino.

Toronto recently opened up and greatly expanded their casino footprint, but the fix was in for a shitty local Canadian casino operator who wanted to do nothing more than fill the place with as many slot machines as they could. We just built a brand new casino with a 330,000 sq foot gaming floor, and there's no poker. The same company has two other properties in the Toronto area, also no poker.

So the first thing you need is a massive casino to make poker easier to justify, and the second is you need a neutral/friendly operator like MGM, Caesars, maybe the Wynn. Any small time local operator needs to be given the boot.

Poker demand in Toronto is massive, that didn't stop the operator from screwing us all. I'm in NY several times a year, I'm rooting for you guys. Hopefully in Manhattan.

If they wanted to they definitely have more then enough space at yonkers and especially queens to make a nice poker room. I don’t know what all that budget stuff means but if it becomes legal one if not both of those spots will put poker in there minimum

Borgata posted an operating profit of just $650,000 for 2020, down 99.7% from 2019.

Ocean also had the most expensive average hotel room rate in 2020 at nearly $202. The Borgata was a distant second at $160.

I understand people not being happy about the availability of comped rooms but maybe it's because the Water Club is closed. I'm just guessing but wouldn't that cut the available rooms in half ?

The water club has been open for at least 3 weeks. I'm in it now, for the 3rd weekend in a row. I was auto upgraded the first time, asked for it last week, and was auto upgraded again now.

There currently is a moratorium until 2023 on "downstate" (NYC metro area) casino expansion. At that time, there would be three licenses available for operating a normal casino (not racino). It is assumed two of the licenses would go to MGM and Resorts World. The CEO of MGM was asked about NY on CNBC the other day and sounded confident in the future. Each operator would have to pay a one time license fee of something like $500 million to NY state.

There was talk they would move the moratorium date closer, but that didn't pass the budget talks. I have never been to any of the racinos, but supposedly there is land where they could expand their properties to add more space, hotels, etc.

Interesting. I wonder if they're done booking 50% of rooms. I definitely had noisy neighbors next to my room 2 weeks ago

Well, it's at least closed in the sense that they're not taking reservations.

The Water Club Hotel is temporarily closed until further notice. Borgata apologizes for any inconvenience.

Yeah I think they're not advertising it or letting you book up front but they're using the space. I went a few weeks back and they told me there were no smoking rooms available, which was gonna be an issue lol. During check in I pushed and they said they could only offer me a smoking room in the water club which was of course fine by me

Supposedly there are going to be 30 tables in South Hampton starting in 2023.

Can anyone confirm a couple of things about $2/5 NLHE?

Are plexiglass dividers still in place?
Are waitlists still in place?
How many players per table?
Has timed rake been reinstated yet? If not, what is the rake?

Thank you

Info current as of 4/4. No reason to believe anything changed in the past 6 days.

Plexiglass dividers - yes
Waitlists - same process as when they reopened. Lists are much shorter though.
7 handed, 2 missed blinds -- pickup.
Still pot rake $5+1(promo)

My calendar is showing the water club is opening for reservations late may weekends only. Looks like open all days in the summer.

They're probably just using it for comps. When I asked for a WC room at check in she didn't have a problem with it. So I then said since not many people are in there can you please put me in a suite (why not thought I'd try it) so she said she can only give me a "stay well" room which is supposed to be a big upgrade but it's actually the same room with an air cleaner, a small box that puts out a scent into the air (hardly noticeable, supposed to be "aroma therapy"), and if anyone wondered what the "dawn simulation" is, it's a small alarm clock with a light that gets brighter and brighter when it rings lol. I won't get a stay well anymore though bc the bed is a lot harder than the other ones.

You can probably ask for one at checkin before then.
