I think the Nugget has to be smaller, no?

Why do you think Borgata would not open poker right away?

Bellagio did and both properties are under MGM...

What Bellagio did is irrelevant.
It's a totally different market in an area impacted by covid differently than NJ and they have 4 or 5 casinos already opened in Vegas.

Borgata is only going to be allowed to open at 25 percent capacity. Now they still may have poker to start (i'd be surprised) but it won't have anything to do with what the Bellagio did.

I was not aware of that fact. In that case, I agree there will be no poker to start. They might actually focus on paying hotel customers particularly on the weekends.

I wonder though if gaming will let them utilize some areas which technically do not meet surveillance standards for gaming purposes. For example, if they put some of the slot machines in the Event Center, they could spread them out in an extremely sparse manner.

I wouldn't be surprised if Borgata put slot machines in the poker room like Parx is doing. It helps with social distancing and is more profitable.
I hope we get poker back by Labor Day. Sad.

In the AC forum, someone said the manager posted Borgata will not have poker when reopening.

Did he have any words on the actual poker room reopening (as opposed to casino reopening)?

very pessimistic poker on agenda for borgata. I'm hoping someone else opens for poker in AC and pushes the rest of the market a little but not holding out hope..
Congrats proto!

Rn, looks like you're the winner.

Once the room opens, be happy to coordinate a meet-up and pay the piper.

ATLANTIC CITY — Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa will not reopen when gaming is allowed to resume Thursday as a result of Gov. Phil Murphy's surprise announcement Monday that indoor dining would be indefinitely suspended. https://t.co/Ia0g2BcDzR

Makes sense. They've invested so much in being more than gaming.

Though with no drink service, they wouldn't get enough people to have to worry about them being too close together.

Wth are you mister borgata??!?!? Lol. Im glad this isnt for 5k we'd need a judge!!!

I declare you winner, and will pay you at borgata when available.

Fwiw, i read borgatas post on f.b. as pretty passive aggressive. It seems more to send a message to NJ. Maybe through tax revenue or their employees benefits running out(thus letting employees/union lobby ) more so than borgata feeling they cant be their best.

Parx was packed today, no reason to think borgata wouldnt be as well.

Well, "packed" would probably get them shut down again, which would be worse than staying closed. As would a reopening offering nothing more than sober gaming, if they ended up not getting enough players to make it worthwhile.

But yeah, there's certainly a subtler version of the "We stocked up, we brought employees back, and then you yanked the football away" that's going around.

Not 100% sure of this but I just heard that King Murphy aka Govenor has now banned smoking inside of casinos.

Nevada was the same when it first came back, then 5, then 6 (where they are now). That being said, I'm not sure we're getting poker back in 2020 in the northeast casinos. Not looking good so far.
