No, they are not saying this at all. The DOJ has yet to make any type of judgment as to whether the actions of the players was illegal at all. Some players from around the world have taken off and received funds. Many others have made (and received) millions of dollars in profits throughout the years due to playing online poker so I think it would be hard to call them suckers.

But it's a crock of **** to say these sites had to commit fraud. That's like saying Capone had to smuggle booze, kill people, and not pay taxes. I mean hell, what other choice did he have? lol.
It's not "had to commit fraud", it's "either commit fraud and hope you don't get caught, or lose your US player base instantly 5 years ago". They chose the former.

Was on all last night, didn't turn off the comp. Still on today and playing real money games (US-PA). LOL I should probably log off and just be in the same boat as everyone else. But the CAP games are soo soft and I'm up. Doubtful I'll see this money anytime soon, but it is what it is. I will Not Log Off!!! never surrender!

It's 110% the sites' fault for this debacle. They tried to get more by covering up shady transactions and now they got caught. US Govt isn't doing anything, it's the DOJ. Just a bunch of lawyers trying to get a piece of the easy pie.

I'm glad that guy came on Quad Jacks to say he couldn't comment on anything they asked. Cool Story

There is no light at the end of the tunnel. Time to brush off the old resume.

No it's not even close to confirmed. That and the money is off in escrow somewhere anyway. It's not like the DOJ can just easily take it all. But it could take a loooooong time to see it back.

If you remember 2006, you know anything can happen. I lost money on Jetset Poker, trust me I will never leave a lot of money in an account again. We all knew this might happen so to leave that much money out there, you can bitch all you want, it would be a bad move.

Matt Hawrilenko: cmon gus, send me out of online poker in style.
ONES DADDY (Observer): he prob never logged off
Matt Hawrilenko: i'm just here for one last session and to spend all my full tilt points

This - I am surprised that so many smart winning regulars couldn't see that keeping tens or hundreds of thousands of $ on a poker site, given all the increasing headaches processing transactions in recent years, was a bad idea. Should have kept enough on there to play the level you were at comfortably (unless you're planning on moving up indefinitely), and gotten the rest off. Hindsight is 20/20 though, I suppose.

Online poker is NOT legal in all countries in the EU. eg, Norway.

Interesting thing is apparently stars makes about 500M profit a year. The numbers that the DOJ are talking about could really cripple stars. Interesting to see how these sites will be able to sustain themselves between the money seized, the fines, the loss of customer base, etc...

I am still able to play as well. I have been logged in since before Midnight (Friday). I will keep playing until they do a server restart. The down side is I can't access the promotions website or the cashier page. I would need the new update in order to access the cashier. Doesn't matter to me though since I will be not be withdrawing at this point. Personally, I think the money is safer on site than in processor "black hole".

Not reading another 10 pages at this time but seeing 3,000 people logged on and 15 moderators is humbling where the normal numbers weren't even close to this. Maybe if we all(me included) gave a **it before and did something we wouldn't have to go through this now.

Well I'm English and tried to cash out bout 12 hours ago, we'll see what happens, I've moved to a euro site and doubt I'll be going back, if this can happen now then whats to say it cant happen in the future i cba with the hassle

Wrong on both counts.

The role of the executive is to enforce the law as written by the legislature and interpreted by the judicial system.

Any wonder why poker is now banned? Players have zero clue.
