Fk this thread and the fact that it exists. What a horrible situation. I hate the way this community acts sometimes. Are we going to try to re-raise the lost charity funds? Seems right.
I like this idea. I didn't donate to the original campaign but would happily be part of an effort to right Bogan's wrongs.

Throw me down for $25

We should ask omgclaydol if he's down to escrow/donate directly again.

I'm sure he'd be able to. But if he can't, I certainly can.

Ya know, feeling bad for bogan and thinking what he's done is terrible aren't mutually exclusive.
03-12-2013 , 09:10 PM
Sweet. I'm in for some sort of comp if that sounds good/is a workable way of raising funds, or I'm happy to just donate too. Either way's ok with me.

Will be pretty cool if mttc can raise an additional $6500 and make this right with the charity. It would say a lot about this community, and poker players in general.

honestly to hell with deans charity, will probably make him look good someone said his moms worked there? For all we know were saving his local rep theres plenty of good charitys.

Why donate to deans charity when theres plenty of good (better imo) charitys out there
03-12-2013 , 10:50 PM
Just went through all of this

Extremely shocked. This was the first charity event over 2p2/online I had put money towards

Well done to those who put in the work to get to the bottom of this

Judging from afar on Deans character, it wouldnt surprise me if he showed his face again and attempted to 'make things right'

in for a hundo or some comp or whatever

Doesn't matter if it was the charity Dean chose, hell you could even state if more funds are sent to the charity that Dean had no involvement if you want to ensure that he receives 0 credit and a boost to his reputation in his local community, but taking away the chances of benefiting the kids at this charity when they had already laid out a set plan for how exactly the funds would be used just because of Dean's actions over the course of the last 5 months would be pretty sh*tty.

Of course the $5k already sent to them is a lot of money and i'm sure they are delighted but if something is run to try and make up some of the funds lost surely it would be cool to try and help the charity achieve all the plans they had set out to do in the first place when Dean first got in contact with them.

I have no involvement with this thread though so ultimately I guess it would be down to the majority where the money goes to.

Let's not forget that there are infinite other charities outside of Youth Mental Health in Australia that people could donate to, but I'd be in either way.

It's St. Pattys/Paddys day on Sunday, so one idea would be to donate like $10 each for every drink you have, surely we would end up collecting a decent sum that day!

Also I'm fine with Marc/ClayDol escrowing again for this

Its not about soiling bogans rep, he now has no rep and the charity was picked by him NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT IT other then it exists. All I know is an adult bogan spent time in there and liked it and I dont really feel like donating to build a rehab centers basketball court when their are starving children with aids in africa.

Maybe do some research yourself and dont take the easy way out thats all im saying. Maybe something lke a problem gambling program would be more suited for us. And if your going to donate to mental health is austrlia really your best bet? They have a pretty good ran system im sure theres alot of less well off countrys that dont have any govermnt assistance thats probably where your money should go.

I agree with donating to another charity (5k is probably alot to the orygen already), and after all the money was to be spent on sports equipment, however I strongly disagree that drinking based way of raising money is the right option

MTTc raised $11k drinking over the internet, imagine how much money we'll raise when everyone has an actual reason to drink!

Don't get me wrong, it's obviously a very sketchy reason to raise money with in the first place, but this seems like fun
03-13-2013 , 03:08 AM
This thread is about the pledge we made to Orygen Youth Health, and the fact that the monies never made it there. If we are trying to right Dean's wrongs, we do so by coming good on that pledge.

If you want to raise funds for another cause, please start your own charity drive.

Wow that's the best you can come up with? Sure the "Starving children with AIDS in Africa" need help, but that doesn't make it disingenuous to donate to another charity which will have an impact on other peoples' lives. Red herring out of left field to detract from the cause everyone already stood behind and pledged money toward. But since you're an expert on charitable causes in "Africa", a large and populous continent, please indulge us and recommend a worthy cause with a good reputation. Side note, can someone donate this guy a grammar textbook?

It is clear that they have a pretty "good ran" system in Australia. And they probably don't need any help at all dealing with youth with mental health issues. Can I remind you that Dean Bryden (scammer and thief) went through this very system and we're posting in a thread about his charity scam today? It's quite obvious that youth mental health is an issue, because an adult (I use the term loosely) with mental health issues is causing problems for our poker community. Think of it as an investment against future Bogans which, yes, have an impact on online gambling and its reputation.

This sounds like a sensible post. I'd rather have the money go to somewhere with a so called 'well ran' system as theres a higher chance the money is actually used in a way that directly relates to or helps the charity whereas I wouldnt be so confident in that if you ship to a service that helps 'starving children with aids'. Charity event on PS sounds pretty good as well.

Its charity you dont owe them anything. Its sad what happened but your not obligated to give them more charity but its nice if you do. Do you know what 6grand can buy in sporting goods? Im sure there set for the next 100 years unless they need a football feild to go along with the basketball court we already bought them. Its a free rehab that the goverment pays for its silly.
NO ONE IN THIS ENTIRE THREAD HAS EVEN BEEN THERE. THERE IS EVEN A VERY VERY SMALL CHANCE HE KNOWS THE PEOPLE RECIEVING THE MONEY AND ITS A SCAM, THE LADIE ALI CALLED COULD BE HIS ****ING GIRLFRIEND.

Im not saying dont donate to this center just do some damn homework/fact checking and see if they even need any more money for sporting goods and ask them if its even important to them.

FACTS
BOGANS JUDGEMENT CAN NOT BE TRUSTED
NO ONE HERE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THIS CENTER OTHER THEN WHAT BOGAN SAID AND ALIS 5 MINUTE CALL altho it is obviously real it just might be a waste of money that can be donated elsewhere
