I was in Orlando for a week a few years ago. Call and asked if they had O/8. They said yes and it goes every night. Drove all the way there to find out it was a $1/$2 game. What a waste of time. My own fault for not asking about the stakes in advance.

Going back to Orlando in April. Want to find out if it is worth the drive over.
Was in Daytona yesterday and I'm pretty sure it was running there. Didn't note the limits. You might keep this in mind, as Daytona is ~45 miles while THR is ~80.

Just to throw it out there. I find the 1/1 game at Silks to be as profitable as the old 1/2 100 max game. The play is very bad.

Also, I know this is a HR thread but the rake changed at Silks (I believe to what Hardrock does)...

Can anyone give me a reason to play 1/3 over 1/2 at HR? 1/3 has a ton of regs and like half of the Tampa 2p2 community playing...

More money on the table, but everyone (from what I've seen) plays like a nit... If you're going to play bigger than 1/2, I'd suggest the 2/5...

Not to keep derailing but I agree. The 1/1 at Silks is great. However, it really is sickening to get Kings and Aces cracked by some clown in the big blind with J3 or 73 and them hitting two pair on you. I swear at 1/1 every one calls every single raise practically, its funny how mad some of them get when you raise.

Ok I"ll stop derailing the thread. My original point to me stands though I think the 1/2 at the HR is the best game in town

Im much happier to play the $240 tourneys for free.
Parisron - How do u qualify for the $240 MTT for free?
Also I went to the THR web site and didnt see any mention of the WPT freeroll.

Does THR advertise the freerolls anywhere on their web site?

What do you mean changed rake? no more rounding up? no more $2 Jackpot drop?

I agree about the 1/3nl at HR but for the hours I have played it since they offered it my hourly is pretty good but small overall sample and I have to use game selection big time.
In 1/2nl at HR I rarely ever have to think about changing tables.

at 1/1nl how much will you raise pre flop, I mean lets say in 1/2nl you make it standard $10+ 1bb per limper. If you try this in 1/1nl you will get called by 6 people pre flop everytime.
People don't look at it as how many bb's it is they think hmm for $5 I will watch monkeys F***. Im seeing the flop.

So now what, make it 8-10bb raise standard. Its just ******ed.

No they don't advertise promos at all except on printouts in the poker room each month.
You just have to play 20 hours between sunday 12:01am to Thurday 11:59pm and you get a free ticket good for 30 days any wed. $240 tourney.

1st qualify period is done we are in #2 now and there are 2 more.
so if you missed the 1st one then you still can get 3 more tickets this month.

I am not entirely sure. If the couple dealers from there on 2p2 read this we'll get a clarification but I'm pretty sure it's more. One thing I do know is that it is now $20 in the pot for a jackpot hand to qualify.

I am finding the importance of game selection more and more. Twice this week I have gone to Silks with the intention to play and gone home due to tables packed with regs.

I have folded over pairs more at this level than any other level by far. There are a lot opportunities to get it in good... (that's what she said)

Can anyone give me an estimate of winrates at the 1/2 game @THR, and a solid number for a bankroll? Plan on switching most of my play over to live. 50-100nl stars reg fwiw. Thinking ~ 3k for a roll, and 6-10bb/hr. How far off am I?

Quick 1/10/11 TR

Decided to drive down from Orlando and continue my go at getting 20 hours. I arrived at 6 PM, and sat down immediately at 1/2 NL. My table (table 34) quickly turned into the best 1/2 NL table in the country. There were two regs there who are known for their terrible play, and in one of their cases, endless reload $100 bills. The stack sizes on the table were getting ginormous, and the action was great!.

This is the kind of table where it kills you to go on a streak of unplayable hands. And that's exactly what I did! I ended up losing 2 buy ins playing like an idiot, and trying to make plays on people who don't have a fold button.

Disheartened, I started to head back to my car, defeated. On the way, I realized that I still had $200 on me, and I wouldn't be a true degenerate until I lost my last penny.

I turned around, and stormed back inside the building, with the Rocky theme playing in my head. On my way in, some crazy older guy started walking next to me, and gave me a pep talk about how we're both going to win. He asked me what I play, and I told him poker. He told me he plays the 2 cent slot machines, and that he usually walks out turning $4 into $200, and if he's lucky, into $400. I briefly considered following him and playing slots for a living.

Instead, I un-racked my $200 on a 1/3 NL table, ready to steam off chips. BUT HOLD THE PHONE! Over the next four hours, I played like a pro (AKA super nitty and got dealt AA three times, and KK twice) and ended up leaving that table with about $500 even, for a $100 profit on the night!

On the way out, crazy-ass slot guy was leaving as well, with $400 hanging out of his pockets. We fist pounded and skipped out to our cars.

That last part didn't happen, but I wish it had.

Only 5 more hours until I get my $240 donkament ticket!

Yea thats about right but keep in mind that close to half the players buy in for only $40-$60 so there are constantly alot of short stacks and even when you build up to $200+ stack(normal stack) not many others will usually have that size stack.
But the play is pretty horrible so that makes up for all that.

I don't know. He seemed trustworthy. But not at all.

I didn't go for the 20 hours last week. School, work, living in Orlando... this will probably be the only week I get it. Hopefully the next tournament will have just as many entries if not more. I can imagine the play will be terrible.

I heard usually the Wednesday deep stack will attract maybe 40 players, of which I assume they pay 5 or so people.

How will the payout structure adjust for 200+ entrants? I'm hoping 2 tables get paid. I'll most likely be playing to cash, since it's essentially a free roll.

Break even 6 hours of 1/2 poker = SUCCESS!

20 hours of 1/2 and 1/3 = ~$366 and $240 donkament ticket. Good deal imo.

Random, but can I really just grind the 1/2NL for 20 hours and get an entry into a $240 MTT?

How many players typically in the 240 / payscale?

Im kind of temporarily broke, so figured could play 1/2 100 max for a long ass day and try for a decent cash on the 240?

when do they run?

edit: is it the wednesday 200+40? ffs hardrocks website sucks

I went Saturday and Sunday and got some great tables and walked away with $1200 profit over 11hrs, I ran average. Be prepared for a lot of limping and 4-7 way to the flops in raised pots.

BTW I got confirmation that Derby has raised there rake even more.
They now take $2 rake and $1 jackpot on $11, $3 rake and $2 jackpot on $21, $4 rake and $2 jackpot on $31 and $5 rake and $2 jackpot on $41.

This has confirmed the fact that I will NEVER again play there.

What ???? That is insanity. I hated that place to begin with, now I will never go there again. Haven't been out to the Rock since end of December and hoping to head out soon and get me some 1/2 action and $240 ticket.

Yeah, 20hrs between Sunday and Thursday qualifies you for the Wednesday $240. I think this is for January only.

Agreed, their website sux. So does their "no monitor" brush/waiting area. And their "no backpack" policy. And their embarrasing lack of cupholders for the tables.

Hey guys. Just wondering. Overall, how is the 2/5 play there now? Are there any juicy tables on a regular basis? I used to KILL the 2/5 game when the buy ins were still $100 simply because it caused people to just jump off the cliff with their money. Just wondering if there is any madness left at that limit, or if the only juice is at the 1/2 game.

Thanks
