I went Thursday evening, they only had a certain number of tables running because of them not being wired and cameras not fully working yet. Here is my critiques:

1. bathroom too small (obvious design flaw)
2. music WAY TO ****ING LOUD!!! Complained to to every supervisor and brush, they said they could do nothing about it. This is worse than hearing slots all night BY FAR!
3. Speakers for the brush to call people on the list is not loud enough, cannot hear them from inside the poker room at all if you are not on the first row of tables.
4. waiting area way too small (obvious design flaw), will be ridiculous on busy nights. To complicate things, the brush stand and cage are directly across from each other and people in line for each will be taking up what little space there is for people waiting to get on a table.
5. No new tables and chairs. They had an opportunity to do this right and AT THE VERY LEAST replace the chairs and maybe the tables. They did neither. They didnt even bother to re-felt the tables. Another example of THR being a first class establishment that really cares for the comfort of it's patrons... lol
6. It's too small. They went out of their way to make the new room, and there is very little improvement in space between tables. Very little. Inbetween ROWS it is noticable, but inbetween the tables inside of a row, it's barely noticable.

Single biggest complaint Thursday was the music. There was one rap song that had these loops of repetitive sound, when it ended, the entire room cheered, it was comical. I did not go Friday night because it was my work's Xmas party but am headed out soon, hope some of the fixable things they can fix have been fixed, namely the volume of the music.

SOme of the worst things (size, bathroom issues) they obviously cant fix.

On a side note, I got there around 8p, left round 8:30a, from the time I got there to the time I left, they had already drywalled up what used to be the rail on the old poker room, it is completely walled off and there is no evidence that it was even there. I would guess the wall will be lined with slots by the time I get there tonight...

1. yes will be crowded on weekends
2. because of you and the other old folks? complaining they stopped the music from now on.
3. In a way its nice that you cant hear them calling out all those names when your playing but I guess if your waiting on another list not so good but you can just keep looking at the list tv tho.
4. What waiting area? lol. I heard was supposed to be a nice waiting area like couches, etc. but its just a bunch of people standing around.
5. They did recover the tables in the last month or so. Some were very gross.
6. There is for sure more space between the tables. In old room you were constantly back to back with the players from the next table and dealers coudnt get through without people standing up or scooting in. Now that is not a problem.

I read an article that said they are putting about 380 slot machines in there. wheel of fortune and some other popular ones.

was there on fri night... the wait for a 1/3 table was a good 40 minutes which kind of sucked, but the play was kind of loose and it looked like there was a few juicy 5/10 games when i wandered around the poker room a little. gonna start going alot more if i can get a bankroll together...

Alex, you going to commute back and forth or you getting a hotel ?
I am looking into booking probably like 5 days, at least and am trying to find someone to share a room with possibly.

J9 that goes for you too, but I am going to book relatively soon.

I'm most likely not getting a hotel. May stay with a friend who is somewhat close, or just commute from Orlando. Good luck in the tourney though, Jao

Are you ****ing kidding me?

I dont know if you were there or not, but it was WAY too loud. I played on 5 tables and the last one was I think table 11 near the front of the room, and it wasnt too bad there, but every other table I was on was awful. I have no problem if they play music, actually I thought the mix was alright, but they needed to do something about the volume.

Yea maybe different sound level depending on where your sitting in room because the temperature is definitely different depending where you sit. Its much colder in the front than the back.

Yea, it was hot as hell in the back of the room Thursday, last night it was cold in the whole room, I was on 3 tables and was never comfortable, there is also a noticable draft in some areas.

Also they did something with the some of the chairs, I think they recovered some and the ones they did are like sitting on concrete now.
Was playing on table 45 yesterday and I tried looking around for a normal chair with decent padding and there was none on that side of the room.

Hard rock rarely gets my business anymore. The floor made such a bad ruling a few weeks ago I am shocked I didn't get kicked out.

When we got down to 4 handed i had about 240k/580k in play and i told them id take 7k to chop it right then.

First was 8k and 4th was around 2200.

I got 7k, They got 4k, 4k, and 3300. Only the favorable chops ftw.
Can anyone tell me why it is so cool not to chop?

Probably, results oriented that he won so its good. But if your way better than the remaining players then you probably shouldnt chop unless the M situation is brutal.

LiveActionPro I will be there Tuesday, Wed, and Thursday. see you then.
Tuesday they are giving out card cover spiners and wed. is $500 high hand per half hour all day and Thursday is a T-Shirt.
They never give away anything so thats why its amazing lol.

We are packing right now, leaving in a couple hours, I believe we are going to be at exit 213 off 1-75 lakewood ranch, so my playing might all take place at the kennel club, but hopefully the wifey will let me sneak up to Tampa for a late night, and we could meet up. I'll let you know when we get in.

When you enter the tournament, do you think if your mind that once you get down to X ammount to players, you all are just going to split it evenly?

If so, why work the entire tournament to get the chip position you have gotten at that point.

It made no sense for me to chop 10 handed, i only had like 40k, and there were stacks ranging from 12k--->80k.

Why wouldn't i just play until i either
1) Got myself into a good chip position where i could continually steal and run over the table (since everyone was playing so tight trying not to bubble)

2) Get caught one too many times and have my stack deminish down to a few BB's and in that case, they would STILL want to chop.

SO it wasn't a matter of it being "cool" not to chop, it just didn't make much sense to me.

so it only paid 5 spots? like the majority of their tourneys because the fields are always under 50 players?

Been a somewhat reg at low stakes there for awhile. Played the new room Friday night, $1-3, NLHE.

Pros:
1. No smoke drifting in
2. New carpet
3. Bigger tv's
4. Re-felted tables

Cons:
1. I can't believe it but the PA system is worse than before. Now, if you are on a short list, you won't miss it because you basically have to stand there in front of the brush and wait. But if you are trying a table change, there is no chance you will hear the call.
2. Drink service uberslow
3. Feels claustrophobic. At least the old room opened up into the casino area
4. Chip window appeared to have hired everyone off the short bus. Three lines 5-7 deep to buy/redeem chips was ridiculousand there was no reason for it, that I could see

Suggestions:

1. Put a monitor with names list up in the waiting area where easily visible so we don't have to stand on top of the people at the first table on the far left.
2. Enlarge the men's bathroom
3. Put some seating in the waiting area
4. Re-work the drink service
5. Sell chips in $100 increments only at the cage and dedicate more lines early in the evening to selling, then shift more to redeeming around 10

Its the same cashiers they have had for years. And yes some are not very efficient.

As far as the drinks go, The service bar only holds 1 girl at a time loading up orders. So thats what the problem is.

Yes they need a list monitor where you can see it in the "waiting area" lol.
